The dormitory was meant for four students, but there was only one bed and a wardrobe for one person. The rest of the space stood empty.
"Oh, Little White!"
His luggage was on him, while Little White had said before boarding the train that it wanted to come to Hogwarts first.
Cypher had immediately seen that it was eager to play with Cinderella, so he had not stopped it and let it leave ahead of him.
He just had not expected the weather around Hogwarts to be so terrible.
Not only had Little White failed to see Cinderella, it had ended up waiting here in such a bedraggled state for him.
When it saw its master enter, it looked like a child waiting for a parent's comfort.
Little White spread its wings and flapped them at Cypher, venting its grievance, anger, and rainwater all over him.
Once Little White had calmed down, Cypher raised his wand.
After thinking about it, he decided not to cast the spell directly on Little White.
He cast the magic on the table first. Iris had told him about this drying spell when they got off the train.
Though it was simple, this was his first time casting it.
The spell succeeded, with no explosions or anything else happening.
Only then did Cypher maintain the spell and switch its target to Little White.
It was practically a magical hair dryer!
Very quickly, Little White became a fluffy little darling again.
It affectionately pecked Cypher's index finger with its beak.
Cypher took Little White's perch out of his waist pouch.
After sending Little White off to stay by itself, he began busily unpacking his luggage.
Its large eyes were full of confusion.
Little White could not understand why Cypher, after making up his bed and washing up, put his clothes back on and prepared to go out.
Yet it was still pouring outside.
It could rest in the dormitory without a care.
Cypher had noticed that the common room did not require Wizard Robes. The older students wore pajamas or loose-fitting clothes.
Going out in a shirt, boxers, and slippers was not too outrageous, right?
When he arrived at the common room, sure enough, he received no strange looks.
Looking around, he saw plenty of empty seats.
Cypher first headed toward the Ravenclaw Library off to one side.
He took out a book on practical spells, then returned to the hall and found a corner to sit in.
Just as he was thoroughly engrossed in these little everyday spells,
a figure moved in the corner of his eye.
Cypher hurriedly looked up. It was Iris and Luna.
One wore yellow pajamas, while the other wore white pajamas.
"You two are going to drive people with OCD to death!"
Cypher rolled his eyes. White-haired Iris wore yellow pajamas, while Luna, with her yellow hair, wore white pajamas.
The two girls held hands and sat across from Cypher.
"You came out so early? Are your roommates hard to get along with?"
Iris snatched the book from Cypher's hands. Seeing that he had read quite a bit, she casually flipped through it as she asked.
Cypher pulled back the hand that had reached after the book, then leaned hard into the sofa and stretched.
"Ugh! I have the dormitory all to myself. What about you two?"
"The two of us share a dormitory!"
Luna pulled Iris over, and the two pressed their cheeks together as they looked at Cypher. He could hardly bear the sight.
"True single dormitories are only provided for the prefects of each house."
Seeing Cypher surrender and start avoiding their gaze, Luna released Iris and said with a smile.
After flipping through the book, Iris found that it was full of everyday spells, little spells for cooking, laundry, and the like. She closed it and returned it to Cypher.
"Stop reading! The Ravenclaw Library may have a lot of books, but most of them are autobiographical accounts from older students and a small number of study notes. The rest are just humanities and history books, or introductions to various things. The truly advanced magic is all in the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library. Quite a few dangerous spellbooks can only be found in the headmaster's office."
Seeing Cypher's attention drift back to the book, Iris puffed out her cheeks and huffed.
"Okay, okay!"
Cypher reluctantly pulled his gaze away. The explanations for these everyday spells were actually more detailed than those in his textbooks.
A flash of inspiration appeared in Cypher's mind, but no matter what he did, he could not grasp it.
Seeing Cypher close the book, Iris assumed her words had worked and smiled with narrowed eyes.
"How about we show you around the castle tomorrow?"
Luna said with a smile as well.
"It's a pity we can't cast the Disillusionment Charm. Otherwise, we could take you out for a nighttime stroll right now. Professors usually turn a blind eye to young wizards wandering around at night. But there's a special ghost in the school called Peeves. Young wizards who can't cast the Disillusionment Charm often run into him, and then he makes a huge fuss and calls the professors over."
Iris suddenly lost her smile.
"I asked my grandfather, but aside from Expelliarmus, he never taught me any other defensive magic. He said my reactions were too slow, and that knowing this one spell was enough. As for books explaining the Disillusionment Charm, the older students said only the Restricted Section had relevant records."
"Then why don't we find an older student who can cast the Disillusionment Charm and learn it from him?"
Cypher was rather puzzled.
"If older students want to learn that spell, they first have to swear not to pass it on before they can get a professor's signed note to visit the Restricted Section and read the relevant books," Luna said.
That was true enough. If a spell like that became widespread, Hogwarts at night would probably turn into a madhouse.
Rather than that, getting a signed note from a professor meant the professor believed you were capable of sneaking out at night—and trusted you.
"Fine, then we'll behave ourselves and ask Professor Dumbledore for a signed note!"
Cypher comforted the two girls, and they nodded repeatedly.
"By the way, do you two know all these spells?"
The conversation killer—Cypher Corvin.
"From the sound of it, are you looking forward to us being good at housewife magic?"
Iris seemed to think of something, and even her fair cheeks flushed with excitement. Luna lowered her head at the same time and stared at her cute toes.
"Uh, uh, uh?"
Cypher realized that the practical magic before them was mainly for household use.
In his panic, Cypher said the wrong thing again.
"I didn't mean it like that."
The words had already left his mouth. It was too late to take them back.
Iris and Luna stood up at the same time with expressionless faces. Without saying a word, each picked up a book and slammed it heavily open onto the table, drawing curious looks from quite a few older students in the distance.
With one careless move, he had set off a landmine. Oh, no, two landmines...
The atmosphere was painfully stiff, and Cypher felt like he was sitting on pins and needles.
At last, he could not stand it anymore.
"Ahem, it's getting late. We should rest early. We still have to tour the castle tomorrow."
Cypher quietly broke the silence.
"Mm."
The two girls responded blandly. They rose in perfect sync and put back the books whose pages they had not turned even once.
Standing there with the book in his hands, Cypher made a decision.
At the fork where they were about to part ways, Cypher did not hesitate for a moment before pulling both girls into his arms.
"Good night. See you tomorrow morning!"
"Good night, Cypher. See you tomorrow morning." ×2
Sure enough, smiles returned to both their faces.
