Background / History
Diana Cassiopeia sent Cassandra away to Atlantis before Twilight City fell. Cassandra's family belonged to the serpent-bloodline wizards of the region, whose transformations and instincts required careful control. Her mother had exhausted the last potion capable of suppressing the bloodline's degeneration, leaving Cassandra's future dependent on awakening her inheritance. 130 134 148
Cassandra met Cypher under an arrangement made through Dumbledore: she would teach him Magical Creature Transfiguration, while he would remain at her side and protect her during the summer. Though she initially framed their relationship playfully, Cassandra also sought a partner capable of restraining the instincts of her bloodline. 134 135
While guiding Cypher through Atlantis, Cassandra concealed her identity because House Cassiopeia's name could attract danger. When news arrived that Twilight City had fallen, she suffered a violent loss of control: her hair changed, scales emerged, and her Serpent Eyes overtook her pupils. Cypher subdued her before she could harm herself or destroy their surroundings. 137 141
Her emerald ring contained a magical imprint of Diana. Diana admitted that Cassandra needed the emotional drive created by the loss of Twilight City to achieve a true awakening, and asked Cypher not to reveal her continued existence to her daughter. 142
After escaping Atlantis during Grindelwald's assault, Cassandra returned with Cypher to the hidden Cassiopeia estate near Mount Vesuvius. She recovered family books, treasures, and inheritance records before the pair fled the sealed castle. Daniel Adam later attempted to exploit her grief over Diana and force her to surrender House Cassiopeia's Animagus Transfiguration, but Cypher intervened and killed him. 161 162 164
Cassandra was subsequently welcomed into Madam Mary's family as an adopted daughter. She received a Hogwarts acceptance letter and entered the school as a first-year student, despite initially expecting to join Ravenclaw alongside Cypher, Iris, and Luna. 170 172 191
Appearance
Cassandra is a fair-skinned young witch with emerald-green eyes and a delicate appearance that can obscure her unusual physical strength. Her serpent bloodline becomes visibly apparent when she loses control or activates certain inherited abilities. 137 141 191
- Usually wears dresses, including dark green and black outfits. 135 158 172
- Her emerald ring is worn constantly, even while bathing. 142
- Her eyes can transform into slit-pupiled Serpent Eyes. 138
- During bloodline instability, her hair turns green, scales emerge across her skin, and her pupils become fully serpentine. 141
- Later adopts a fitted combat bodysuit for physical training and sparring. 365 387
Personality
Cassandra is playful, outspoken, and fond of teasing Cypher, especially when she can make him flustered. She is also enthusiastic about food—particularly meat—and initially resists Cypher's attempts to make her eat vegetables. 135 138 198
Beneath that lighthearted manner, Cassandra is deeply affected by the destruction of her home and the presumed loss of her mother. She can become emotionally overwhelmed, but repeatedly demonstrates resolve: she insists on returning to House Cassiopeia's estate, trains through the difficulties of Occlumency and the Patronus Charm, and takes an active role in dangerous investigations. 141 159 168 248 377
At Hogwarts, she becomes increasingly independent. Although she values Cypher's protection and approval, she makes her own choice to join Slytherin in pursuit of its serpent-related legacy. 194 216
