Nature and Mechanics

Armament Haki is an internal energy that initially remains enclosed in a “shell.” Physical conditioning gradually breaks that shell, allowing a user to sense, contact, and activate the Haki within the body. Saul teaches that Armament Haki depends more heavily on physique and sustained effort than Observation Haki does on talent 90 91.

At its foundation, Armament Haki functions as invisible armor. It reinforces the body against attacks while also increasing the destructive power of physical attacks and weapons 91. Maud later understands Haki more broadly as an expression of aura: exerting pressure and conviction can make a technique more potent 247.

Armament Haki has varying degrees of strength. A stronger user can break through another user’s hardening, as Maud does against Pica, Bullet, and CP0 agents 374 878 890.

Appearance

Armament Haki commonly appears as a dark coating over the body or an object. Its visible manifestations include:

• A pitch-black coating over a hand, blade, pipe, bullet, or other weapon 91 265.
• A coating that remains on a weapon after it leaves the user’s hand 91.
