Background / History
Lafitte was formerly a law-enforcement officer in West Blue. His excessive use of violence led to his exile, after which he became a pirate while retaining the feared epithet “Devil Sheriff.” 26
In Mad Hatter Town, Lafitte became notorious for indiscriminate killings, with reports placing his death toll there at over a hundred. He first encountered Maud when two assassins targeted him in a tavern; Maud killed them because their attack also threatened him. Lafitte recognized the practicality of Maud's response and began watching him closely. 27 52
Lafitte later demonstrated that he had identified Maud's separate Undertaker and Usopp personas. His interest in Maud grew into anticipation for Maud's future, leading him to block Aokiji's attack on Maud and Sabo and ask to follow Maud. Saul permitted him to accompany the group, and Lafitte formally committed himself to Maud after their arrival in East Blue. 51 52 126 131 149
As the Maud Pirates' navigator, Lafitte supplied routes, intelligence, strategic advice, and logistical solutions from the crew's earliest voyages. He proposed pursuing the Shichibukai position as the best way to use Maud's Hunter's Notebook efficiently and later infiltrated the World Government's Shichibukai meeting to recommend Maud as Moria's successor. 151 152 274 299 300
Appearance
Lafitte is a tall, unnaturally pale man whose blood-red lips and formal attire give him a conspicuously sinister gentlemanly appearance. 26 83
- Usually wears a black top hat, black gentleman's suit, and black leather shoes. 51 63 178
- Carries a cane that conceals a slender sword. 83
- Possesses pure white wings in his Devil Fruit forms. 137
- His Siren hybrid form makes his upper body appear more delicate and feminine. 300 567
Personality
Lafitte maintains a polished, theatrical demeanor—bowing politely, smiling often, and treating violence with the same composure as conversation. Beneath that civility is a brutal and thrill-seeking disposition; he has killed without personal grievance and openly describes senseless killing as an expression of violence. 52 63 83
He is highly perceptive, ambitious, and decisive. Lafitte chose to follow Maud because he saw extraordinary potential in him, viewing Maud as the figure who could reach “the highest point.” He places exceptional importance on Maud's dignity and authority, refusing to retreat even when doing so would be safer. 131 140 300
Despite his brutality, Lafitte has no interest in harming defenseless civilians without cause. He follows Maud's principles when civilians are endangered and channels most of his violence toward hostile pirates, Marines, traffickers, and other enemies. 584 887
Abilities & Skills
Mythical Zoan: Siren
Lafitte possesses a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that grants Siren transformations, including wings, heightened resilience, hypnosis, and a voice capable of affecting opponents' consciousness. 300 532 567

- Uses a Siren hybrid form to strengthen his hypnosis against powerful targets such as Smoothie. 567
- His voice can create a momentary opening in an opponent's consciousness, as shown against Onigumo. 532
- A Siren hum briefly disoriented Marco and disrupted his flight. 888
- The transformation's enhanced durability allowed him to withstand Doflamingo's attack without taking a step backward. 300
- Lafitte dislikes using the more visibly feminized form and generally limits himself to his hybrid state. 300 567
Hypnosis
Lafitte can hypnotize captives to extract intelligence and compel cooperation. His ability is a core part of the crew's interrogation methods. 153 159
