Background

Tang San was brought by his father, Tang Hao, to Holy Spirit Village after the Clear Sky Sect withdrew into seclusion following Spirit Hall's attack. Tang Hao had allegedly first returned to the sect, learned of its losses, and then chose seclusion with Tang San. 3

He enrolled at Nuoding Academy with Old Jack on January 1, Douluo Era 2637. At the academy gate, he faced the gatekeeper's mockery over his Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power, but handled the confrontation himself before Yu Xiaogang intervened. Tang San subsequently accepted Yu Xiaogang as his teacher by kneeling and kowtowing three times. 11

At Dormitory Seven, Tang San defeated Wang Sheng and became the new boss under the work-study students' rules, though he initially did not want the position. 12

Appearance

Tang San is described as a thin boy with short black hair, ordinary features, and unusually bright, deep eyes. At his reunion with Ye Yu in Suotuo City, he appeared around twelve or thirteen years old and wore blue clothing. 11 86

  • Short black hair.
  • Ordinary-looking face.
  • Bright, deep-set eyes.
  • Often carries the storage spirit tool Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night. 86

Personality

Tang San is fiercely devoted to those he considers family. He pursued the Hundred Thousand Year Titan Giant Ape alone after it took Xiao Wu, refused to abandon Tang Hao despite Ye Yu's threats, and repeatedly defended Yu Xiaogang as a father figure. 98 114 281

He is resourceful under pressure, using the Purple Demon Eye, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Hidden Weapons, and the Zhuge Crossbow to evade ambushes and identify Shi Nian's position within an illusion. 118 180

His relationship with Ye Yu is marked by suspicion and resentment. Although Tang San formally promised to repay Ye Yu after being saved in the Star Dou Great Forest, he doubted Ye Yu's motives and later rejected Ye Yu's demands for gratitude. 99 100 114

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul

Tang San's primary martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. Though he possesses the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, he did not awaken it; by the time of the City of Slaughter, his martial soul remained ordinary Blue Silver Grass. 118 297

  • First Spirit Skill: Entanglement — binding technique. 118
  • Second Spirit Skill: Parasitism — plants Blue Silver Grass growth on targets. 118
  • Third Spirit Skill: Blue Silver Spider Web — web-based control technique. 118
  • His Blue Silver Grass had only developed into vines rather than undergoing the evolution achieved by Ye Yu's martial soul. 105
  • Without soul skills, he regarded the Blue Silver Grass as far weaker than his Clear Sky Hammer in the City of Slaughter. 297

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang San's second martial soul is a black hammer later identified as the Clear Sky Hammer. 118 297

  • Became his principal weapon in the Hell Slaughter Arena, where soul skills were unavailable. 297
  • Combines with Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer and Clear Sky Nine Absolutes. 297
  • Gained Divine Slaughter's Domain after completing the Path of Hell. 299

Mysterious Heaven Skill and Tang Sect Arts

Tang San cultivates the Mysterious Heaven Skill and applies Tang Sect techniques through his meridians. 99 102

  • Purple Demon Eye — enhances vision, allowing him to see through Bu Le's black mist and perceive hidden threats. 118
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — evasive movement technique used to escape ambushes and pursue targets. 118 120
  • Mysterious Jade Hand — hand technique used alongside Hidden Weapons. 87
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — force-based martial art that he experimented with through both meridian systems. 108
  • Dual-meridian cultivation — Tang San discovered that the extra meridian network within him could circulate and store Soul Power, allowing parallel cultivation and stronger secret arts. 100 102

Hidden Weapons

Tang San is proficient with concealed weapons and used them against both the Man Faced Demon Spider and Shi Nian. 98 180

  • Zhuge Crossbow — wounded Shi Nian after Tang San identified his true location through the illusion. 180
  • Used Willow Leaf Blades, Flying Locust Stones, Money Darts, Bone-Piercing Nails, and poisoned projectiles in his attempted ambush of Ye Yu. 87
  • His Hidden Weapons failed to overcome Ye Yu's Spiritual Power and Magnetic Field Aegis. 87

Demon Willow Fluff Meridians

The additional meridian system Tang San believed to be an External Soul Bone was actually created when Ye Yu implanted Demon Willow Fluff into him while aiding his third-ring absorption. 99 102

  • Allowed him to store and circulate additional Soul Power. 100
  • Enabled attempts to run Tang Sect arts through his ordinary and added meridians simultaneously. 108
  • Let Ye Yu secretly observe Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye circulation routes. 102
  • Allowed Ye Yu to periodically drain Tang San's Soul Power and Blue Silver Emperor Bloodline Origin. 108 169

Divine Inheritance

Tang San completed the Sea God's Nine Trials and inherited the Sea God position. 330

  • His spirit rings and spirit bones were raised to 999,999 years through the divine trials. 330
  • Joined Tang Chen in opposing Ye Yu and the Heaven Dou–Spirit Hall alliance. 330 333

Equipment

  • Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night — storage spirit tool; Tang San offered it as collateral while attempting to buy the Hair Crystal. 86
  • Zhuge Crossbow — Hidden Weapon used against the Man Faced Demon Spider, Dragon Duke Meng Shu, and Shi Nian. 100 180
  • Clear Sky Hammer — second martial soul and preferred weapon in the City of Slaughter. 297

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father. Tang San exchanged the complete Mysterious Heaven Skill for his father's release, then was forced into further concessions when Ye Yu threatened him. 281 282 283
  • A Yin — Mother. Tang San was enraged to find Ye Yu had taken her as his Blue Silver Empress. 300
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher and father figure. Tang San accepted him as master at Nuoding Academy and repeatedly defended him despite Ye Yu's intervention. 11 114 167
  • Xiao Wu — Closest companion. Tang San risked his life pursuing the Titan Giant Ape after it abducted her and later sought to reclaim her from Ye Yu. 98 333
  • Ye Yu — Primary enemy. Their conflict began over the Hair Crystal, escalated through repeated beatings and Ye Yu's covert parasitism, and continued into Tang San's divine era. 86 87 100 330
  • Tang Chen — Great-grandfather. They reunited after Tang San completed the Path of Hell, later becoming Sea God and Asura God respectively. 299 330
