A professor's benefits were clearly much better than he had imagined. Professor McGonagall's efforts to keep him at Hogwarts had made him so nervous that he had forgotten being a professor was not an especially demanding job.
Still, it hardly mattered. Getting to work overtime building a spacecraft would be worth it even without pay!
That might make him sound like someone who worked for free, but people spent countless hours grinding through dungeons for fun. Building a spacecraft with magic was far more exciting!

Andrew shook hands with the slightly portly professor across from him. Judging by the man's still-thick red hair, Professor David knew his Potions and spared no expense on hair-growth brews.
"Hello, Professor Taylor. Hogsmeade—it really has been a long time since I was last here."
Professor Morgan looked around The Three Broomsticks, lingering in particular over the Dreamscape area by the bar. He could not help feeling nostalgic.
He tried to hide his surprise. It would be embarrassing to look startled in front of a trainee professor this young. Even after hearing about him countless times from all sorts of sources, he still found the professor-to-be astonishingly young.
But there would be no reason to be surprised if Andrew became Vice Principal of Hogwarts, let alone a professor. He was a treasure to the entire Wizarding world. Otherwise, the Ministry of Magic would not have sent staff specifically to persuade him.
