Chapter 54: Everyone Was Struck by Lightning
"Knock, knock, knock!"
Dumbledore tapped the armor beside the corridor with the Elder Wand. He had just tried Homenum Revelio and every other revealing spell he knew, and had even used Scarpin's Revealing Charm, which was meant for analyzing potions, but he still could not find any traces left by the spell on it. It did not even have McGonagall's Jinx, which all the other suits of armor had.
It lacked a spell that everyone else had. That meant there was something wrong with it.
However, the suits of armor in the castle were inspected every so often, and no one had ever discovered anything unusual about them before.
Dumbledore thought for a long while. He figured that whoever had tampered with this suit of armor in the past possessed extremely sophisticated concealment magic, and had erased all of it after the spell activated so as not to reveal any information about themselves, leaving not the slightest trace behind.
Unable to find any clue on the armor, he turned to look at the wooden door in the wall.
Secret chambers were constantly being discovered throughout the castle. Dumbledore had seen several of them, and had even planned to build one himself someday.
It was just that this particular chamber was strange. Its materials were ancient, but the structure of its spells was several centuries newer than the materials.
While Dumbledore was thinking, Charles and Professor Flitwick were trembling together inside the Chamber of Secrets.
Lightning as thick as an arm flashed back and forth inside the chamber. No one would doubt that taking a single hit would leave them well-done.
At present, only a small area behind the door was safe, but that safe zone was gradually shrinking as the lightning drew closer
