School Matters
"Ha ha, Grandpa, you're not really going to send me to Azkaban, are you? I've been so well-behaved at Hogwarts."
Though he said that, Charles racked his brain, trying to recall everything he had done this term. As far as he could remember, he hadn't broken any wizarding laws apart from the things related to the Malfoy family.
Jack drove in silence, his expression still as cold as ever. He could give Snape a run for his money.
Charles felt a little uneasy, but he soon realized that the surroundings looked familiar. Before long, he guessed where the Old Man was taking him.
"Grandpa," Charles said seriously, "if I've done something wrong, you should send me to Azkaban after all."
Over ten minutes later, Charles was pinned to a dental treatment bed and began enjoying the deluxe examination package.
Mr. Granger would begin his Christmas vacation tomorrow afternoon. All his appointments for that afternoon were fully booked, and Charles was the last one. After leaving, he greeted Hermione, then ran away as fast as his legs could carry him.
As the city lights began to come on, Jack brought Charles to a Chinese restaurant and asked for a private room.
The Old Man first ordered a Sichuan hotpot set, several Cantonese dishes, and a bottle of Shaoxing rice wine from the owner in English. Finally, in somewhat halting Cantonese, he told the owner, "It's for a fellow villager. Don't make that MSG-flavored water to fool foreigners."
Charles and the owner were both left awkwardly speechless.
The owner in particular hurriedly guaranteed in both languages that his Chinese food was the most authentic there was.
While they waited for the food, Charles grew curious. Why weren't they going home?
Jack replied, "Some things aren't convenient to discuss at home."
