Background / History

Qian Daoliu led Martial Soul Hall during its planned conquest of Sea God Island, an operation intended to extend the Hall’s dominance over the sea-based Soul Masters. Before the campaign, he intended to step down as Pope after the conquest and designate his son Ji Er as successor; the operation ultimately ended in defeat. 4 19 20

During the Sea God Island conflict, Qian Daoliu personally entered the battlefield after Martial Soul Hall’s Title Soul Sages began suffering losses. His intervention briefly reversed the battle’s momentum, but Bo Saixi’s arrival forced the conflict away from the island. 19

Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen both became captivated by Bo Saixi and dueled each other to prove their worthiness. Tang Chen defeated Qian Daoliu in their sparring match. Qian Daoliu later joined Tang Chen in facing Bo Saixi, but the pair were narrowly defeated by her with the ocean’s support; he then swore not to offend Sea God Island again. 19 20

After the Sea God Island defeat, Qian Daoliu remained an essential deterrent behind Martial Soul Hall’s role as a balance between the continent’s two great empires. His continued presence as a Level 99 Ultimate Douluo was considered central to preventing open war. 58
