Ao Lie defeated the Dragon Kings, while Sha Wujin and Zhu Bajie escaped Amitabha Buddha’s planned calamities with Qingqing’s systems. Amitabha turned to Sun Wukong, but Violet Fairy’s arrival gave the imprisoned monkey new hope.

• Ao Lie overcame Yamata no Orochi and the Dragon Kings, then summoned Yinglong with seven Dragon Pearls, defeating his enemies in Izumo Kingdom.
• Amitabha Buddha arranged for Sha Wujin to break a Glazed Glass Cup, but Sha Wujin used Qingqing’s Endless Extraction System to see through the illusion, absorb the Eastern Glazed World, and defeat the forces sent against him.
• Amitabha Buddha targeted Zhu Bajie with a black-pig transformation and a cleansing altar, but Zhu Bajie activated his system and trained his transformations and Heavenly Canopy Seal while fighting back.
• Zhou Qingqing held a heavenly horse race that an ordinary black horse won, and Amitabha Buddha lost his bet before deciding to seek Sun Wukong.
• Amitabha Buddha secretly reinforced the Six-Character True Words pinning Sun Wukong beneath five divine mountains, while Sun Wukong tried several ways to escape and Zhou Qingqing chose not to give him a system.
• Sun Wukong’s monkey doubles struck the seal with his staff, awakening Burning Lamp’s radiance as Violet Fairy, who tried to break the seal with her Violet-Cyan Sword.
• Amitabha Buddha recognized Violet Fairy as a new source of hope for Sun Wukong, and the Three Pure Ones concluded that Zhou Qingqing had brought her into being through Fate and the Chaos Pearl.

Amitabha Buddha made the early tribulations harsher and sent Shiva to challenge the Scripture Seeking Team at the Water-Land Dharma Assembly. As Cihang settled her past karma and rose to the Dao of Primordial Chaos, Sun Wukong confronted the Tightening Hoop and broke free of the trial, leaving Amitabha Buddha watching his protagonist halo double.

• Sun Wukong shattered Nandi and the Six-Character True Words, then left Flower-Fruit Mountain to take on his role in the Calamity while the other disciples prepared to train.
• Amitabha Buddha sealed the Calamity against outside help and sent Shiva to arrange the first twenty tribulations, beginning with his takeover of Five Manor Temple and challenge at the Water-Land Dharma Assembly.
• Ao Lie defeated Shiva’s Divine Eagle after drawing powerful rewards and combining his dragon abilities into Rebirth Slash and a Divine Dragon.
• Golden Hoop Immortal Ma Sui used Zhou Qingqing’s Omni-Simulation System to study Shiva’s Tightening Hoop Spell as Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujin found ways to resist their hoops with their systems.
• Cihang Daoist entered the events of Four Saints Test the Zen Mind, removed all three hoops, repaired her karma, and attained the Dao of Primordial Chaos before accepting Amitabha Buddha’s Perfect Freedom Buddha Fruit.
• Sun Wukong faced Victorious Fighting Buddha, rejected the claim that his fate was fixed, and declared himself Sun Xingzhe as he fought against Buddhism’s attempt to tame him.
• Sun Wukong defeated Victorious Fighting Buddha in their inner struggle, while the Yoga God intensified the Tightening Hoop Spell at the assembly and Sun Wukong broke free and struck at him.

After Tang Sanzang defeated the Yoga God, the Preaching Squad set out west and Sun Wukong accepted a damaged Ranking System that rallied the group against the Beast Lord. The squad continued toward Five Manor Temple, where Amitabha Buddha’s altered trial trapped them in a dangerous illusion.

• The Golden Hoop Immortal revealed himself as Ma Sui, attained sainthood by merging the hoops, and removed them from Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujin.
• Tang Sanzang defeated the Yoga God with Tathagata's Divine Palm and the scripture scrolls, and the Tang Emperor entrusted him and his companions with carrying the teachings west.
• The Preaching Squad departed Chang'an in Ao Lie’s dragon-car, but Shiva sent the Beast Lord to obstruct them with arrows and beast hordes.
• Sun Wukong rejected Qingqing’s Ranking System, damaged it with his power of origin, then bound it and used it to rank the squad in a counterattack against the Beast Lord.
• Ao Lie attacked the Beast Lord with Causal Bloodfire, and Tang Sanzang later restrained him with scripture scrolls before Sun Wukong pursued and killed him with Somersault Cloud and his staff.
• The Ranking System rewarded Ao Lie and Tang Sanzang while punishing Sha Wujin and Zhu Bajie, and Bole’s New Year horse race helped Zhao Gongming attain Primordial Chaos through wealth aura.
• Amitabha Buddha concealed an altered Four Saints Test the Zen Mind behind an illusion, but Zhou Qingqing broke it with help from the Three Pure Ones and discovered that one person’s failure could trap the whole squad.

The Preaching Squad survived the Purple Mansion Vermilion Gate trial when Zhu Bajie defeated the Four Delusion Demon Gods and married Jianjian and her daughters. At Five Manor Temple, they uncovered Zhen Yuanzi’s corpse and were trapped in his sleeve, where they began fighting a lifespan-stealing dimension.

• The Preaching Squad entered the Purple Mansion Vermilion Gate, where Sun Wukong recognized the women’s Chaos Demon God auras and the women began a marriage trial.
• Zhu Bajie agreed to marry Jianjian and her daughters, invited the squad to the wedding, and used his Chaos Mortal Root to break their Four Delusions Divine Ability and complete the trial.
• Heavenly Venerate Du'e approved Zhu Bajie’s marriage and returned home, while Zhou Qingqing led the squad toward the next trial at Five Manor Temple.
• Clear Wind and Bright Moon gave the squad spoiled Ginseng Fruits, and Sun Wukong exposed the danger before the attendants ate the fruit and died.
• Sha Wujin broke the Primordial Chaos Earth Formation, and Sun Wukong toppled the Ginseng Fruit Tree to reveal Zhen Yuanzi’s corpse beneath its roots.
• Zhen Yuanzi’s corpse drew the Preaching Squad into Universe in the Sleeve, where Ao Lie became a Great Void Universe Dragon and stabilized the collapsing space.
• Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujin shattered the sleeve’s seven nested layers together, revealing a dimension that began stealing the squad’s lifespans.
