Background / History

Chu Mu arrived in a world ruled by martial arts and cultivation with knowledge and memories from a technological civilization. His early progress began when he discovered Spirit Radiance Value, which could be allocated to accelerate comprehension and skill development. He first applied it to the Basic Blade Technique, but overtraining left him incapacitated with exhaustion. 2

While serving in the Patrol Inspectorate, Chu Mu trained relentlessly, studied literacy and history, and gradually turned practical survival skills into martial competence. Wu Shuo gave him the Body Forging Art, a Real Skill that let him address the physical limitations restricting his saber use. 19 34 47

After exposure to cultivators and Spiritual Qi, Chu Mu abandoned ambitions for secular rank and devoted himself to the Immortal Path. Old Li’s alchemy inheritance and a separate Puppet Art legacy expanded his knowledge beyond martial cultivation. 107 126

Chu Mu entered the cultivation world as a cautious, low-level cultivator, concealing his identity behind the persona of the young alchemist “Li Gang.” His alchemy, weapon refinement, puppet crafting, blade techniques, and cultivation advanced in parallel through Spirit Radiance Blessing, experimentation, and long periods of seclusion. 170 195 298

He became known first as a Foundation Establishment puppet master and artifact refiner, then as a Golden Core cultivator with “Dual Excellence in Pills and Weapons.” In Red Glow City, he founded the True Understanding Pavilion, taking disciples and turning its puppet artifacts into a major source of fame and wealth. 264 369 374 431

After the Tyrant Province conflict, Chu Mu’s connection to the Longevity Sect became public. He was recognized as the sect’s Ninth True Inheritance and began integrating into its structure while extending the True Understanding Pavilion’s influence across Great Chu. 501 658 679

Appearance

Chu Mu is generally depicted in a green robe during his cultivation life. Following catastrophic injuries after escaping the Li Family’s Nascent Soul Old Ancestor, he temporarily became white-haired and withered, with a lifespan reduced to less than two hundred years. 650 704

  • Often carries or manifests a long saber in combat. 283 696
  • Uses disguises and concealment techniques to obscure his appearance and cultivation. 170 501 851
  • Wore black armor during his confrontation with the Jiaolong and accompanying demon beasts. 696

Personality

Chu Mu is analytical, patient, and intensely pragmatic. He treats cultivation as a system of knowledge, testing formulas, techniques, artifacts, and combat methods rather than relying solely on intuition. 123 280 298

His primary goal is self-preservation and control over his own fate. He avoids unnecessary risks, conceals his strength when possible, and repeatedly chooses preparation, escape routes, disguises, and layered defenses over public displays of power. 113 170 307 641

Despite this caution, he protects people he considers his own. He intervened to save Xu Yuan, pursued Zhao Hong after learning of his involvement in the attack on Xu Yuan’s camp, and later placed bounties on thirteen of Zhao Hong’s blood relatives to prevent future retaliation. 271 272 277

Chu Mu is emotionally restrained regarding romance and lineage. He considers a Dao companion unnecessary to his current pursuit of the Immortal Path and sees little value in having descendants while his own false spiritual root would likely be inherited. 287
