Background / History
The Longevity Sect was the sole sect ruling the Great Chu Cultivation World, while the secular Great Chu dynasty functioned largely as a puppet with little practical influence over cultivator affairs. Its inheritance spans tens of thousands of years and historically included several Nascent Soul cultivators, dozens of Golden Core True Persons, and innumerable Foundation Establishment cultivators. 151 658
Its rule was centralized in name but historically depended on cultivation families that controlled local markets, personnel, law, and resources. The Sun Family, for example, dominated Jade Emperor Valley and surrounding markets while many of its members also held positions within the sect. This arrangement was described as “One Sect, Five Families.” 151 172
The sect later completed the centralization of Great Chu’s cultivation world, leaving no other faction with genuinely independent status. Its internal family factions nevertheless remained difficult to eradicate, as many Nascent Soul cultivators possessed descendants, Dao Companions, and personal inheritances. 669 890
During the Outer Sea expedition for the Sky Palace Relic, the sect suffered catastrophic losses: tens of thousands of disciples were mobilized, while few returned alive. The disaster affected even the Nine Veins’ Direct Disciples, True Inheritances, and Nascent Soul leadership. 663 702 716
The later Demon Calamity devastated the sect further. Its remaining members withdrew into the Fifth-Order Immortal Spirit Abode after the Longevity Mountain Gate was occupied by demons. Chu Mu subsequently stabilized the Abode in the Chaotic Void and assisted the survivors in establishing a new lineage at Kunwu Immortal Mountain. 920 1011 1013
Organization
Sect hierarchy
| Rank / Group | Role and privileges |
|---|---|
| Outer Sect Disciples | Usually recruited through the Mountain Opening Ceremony. They receive basic Arts and Techniques instruction and a favorable spiritual-qi environment, but must complete four realm-appropriate sect missions annually or face abolition of cultivation and expulsion. 658 |
| Inner Sect Disciples | Generally Outer Sect Disciples who reach Foundation Establishment, or individuals accepted for exceptional aptitude or talent. They receive an annual resource stipend and may complete only one sect mission every three years if focused on cultivation. 658 |
| Guest Elders | Foundation Establishment cultivators with specialized talents, True Meaning, bloodlines, physiques, or Hundred Arts expertise. They receive certain sect-like benefits without becoming standard disciples. 672 |
| Direct Disciples | Core disciples of the Longevity Nine Veins, with access to the sect’s principal inheritances and resources. 659 |
| True Inheritances | Nine positions customarily distributed among the Nine Veins. Their status is equivalent to a Grand Elder, but the positions may be challenged under the “capable ascend, incompetent retreat” system. 657 658 659 |
| Grand Elders / Nascent Soul Great Experts | Senior leadership and principal combat power. Their individual interests and family connections form major internal power blocs. 890 |
Functional departments

Longevity Nine Veins
The Nine Veins are the sect’s core pillars. Each possesses its own Immortal Path inheritance and is associated with a True Inheritance position. 659
| Vein | Specialty / condition |
|---|---|
| Peeking Truth Vein | Sword Dao lineage famed as unrivaled in offense. Despite historical decline, it entered a prosperous period under the Sword Dao Nascent Soul Xu Lingtian. 659 |

| Suppressing Prison Lineage | One of the Nine Veins; its lineage master went missing during the Outer Sea catastrophe. 702 863 |
Leadership
- Li Changqing — Longevity Sect Master; Xu Lingtian’s Senior Brother and a Sword Dao cultivator. He had reached Nascent Soul Middle Stage five hundred years before Chu Mu’s investigation, though his later cultivation was unknown. 659
- Xu Lingtian — Peeking Truth Vein Master and Sword Dao Nascent Soul cultivator whose strength restored the vein’s prominence. 659
- Chu Mu — Ninth Longevity True Inheritance of the Peeking Truth Vein; later a Nascent Soul Supreme Elder with Grand Elder authority. 658 884 894
- Qin Qianqiu — Elder who received Chu Mu upon his return and delivered his accumulated True Inheritance rewards. 657
- Yan Qiuling — Steward and guide of the True Inheritance Palace. 664 719
Recruitment and discipline
The sect holds Mountain Opening Ceremonies to recruit disciples, primarily screening candidates through Questioning the Heart, which determines whether they harbor ill intent toward the sect. The Heavenly Stairway may also examine a candidate’s heart, origins, and past. 672
- Standard disciple recruitment occurs every five years and ordinarily requires at least Three Spiritual Roots. 172
- The Arts Department accepts candidates based on exceptional technical skill without age or spiritual-root restrictions. 672
- The Techniques/Law Department assesses comprehension and cultivation potential. 672
- Guest Elder recruitment requires Foundation Establishment cultivation and a distinctive specialty, with fewer age and aptitude restrictions. 672
- New disciples and promoted personnel undergo further background reviews, making infiltration difficult. 682
- The sect’s internal paradise preferentially cultivates and produces disciples with greater loyalty and aptitude than those recruited from the outside world. 666
Territories and infrastructure
Longevity Immortal Mountain
The sect’s mountain gate is centered on the Longevity Immortal Mountain. Its layout follows a “ninety-nine returning to one” arrangement: the Longevity Ninety-Nine Peaks surround the main peak like stars around a moon. Nine True Inheritance Palaces stand at the main peak’s foot in a Nine Palaces formation. 664 670
- True Inheritance Palaces — residences and cultivation grounds for True Inheritances; Chu Mu’s palace contains a crimson triangular tower that purifies and compresses spiritual qi to a quality comparable to high-grade spirit stones. 657 670
- Scripture Pavilion — repository of Classics and Jade Slips; higher floors preserve fewer but more spacious and valuable records. A True Inheritance may enter with authority equivalent to a Grand Elder. 848
- Thousand-Seeker Peak — an Inner Sect peak used to gather and train tens of thousands of selected disciples for the Sky Palace Relic trial. 678
- Heavenly Spirit Peak / Heavenly Spirit World — spirit-planting foundation encompassing over a million li of spirit fields and supplying immense resources to the sect. 684
- Spark Secret Realm World — the sect’s core inheritance ground. 684
Longevity Heaven
Longevity Heaven is a vast Divine Soul illusion constructed with the Immortal Spirit Abode’s Artifact Spirit as its core and Heavenly Mark Crystal Stones as its carrier. It once covered more than half of Great Chu, enabling Divine Soul travel and communication with near-perfect realism for cultivators below Nascent Soul. 671 920
Following the mutations in Heaven and Earth, the sect deactivated Longevity Heaven’s broader phantom world because it could be infiltrated and endanger users’ Divine Souls. It remained accessible only within the Immortal Spirit Abode. 920
Immortal Spirit Abode
The Immortal Spirit Abode is a Fifth-Order Ancient Treasure with an internal Qiankun space. It stores the sect’s secrets and major affairs, serves as a sanctuary, and became the refuge of surviving sect members after the Demon Calamity. 920 1011
Authority system
The sect maintains a territorial order network through disciple tokens, arrays, restrictions, surveillance facilities, spiritual-energy equipment, and puppets. Each disciple possesses corresponding authority and responsibilities within this system. 884 898
- A True Inheritance Token can grant high-level control over sect systems and secret-realm permissions. 764
- In the Yan Yun Mountain Range, the network covered the Yan Yun Eighteen Cities and dozens of camps, allowing the holder to monitor facilities, activate defenses, and coordinate large-scale responses. 884 889
- After hidden demons were purged, Chu Mu restored the authority network by reactivating the tokens of countless disciples across Yan Yun. 898
- The system’s effectiveness depends on intact infrastructure and loyal personnel; demons who originated from the sect understood its arrangements and exploited its paralysis during the Demon Calamity. 884
Resources and equipment
- Longevity Flying Boats — colossal transport vessels capable of carrying tens of thousands of disciples; used for assemblies, expeditions, and military deployments. 663 686
- Armored Soldier Puppets — puppets used in combat support and rescue operations. 702
- Divine Fiend Grand Array — a major sect array used in the Outer Sea war against the Demon Alliance. 847
- Life Soul Lamps — lamps monitoring the condition of sect members and signaling severe injuries or death. 702
- Merit Point system — a reward system through which disciples exchange accumulated merit for resources and treasures. 664 847
- True Inheritance Seal and Robe — symbols and instruments of a True Inheritance’s status. 657
Major events
- Control of Jade Emperor Valley — the sect took over Jade Emperor Valley, upgraded its Spiritual Vein to Third Order, expanded the market, introduced shop rentals and business licenses, and enforced stricter access rules. 166
- Five Families rebellion and centralization — internal strife and the rebellion of five major clans nearly caused the sect’s collapse, but it survived and later reasserted centralized control over Great Chu. 666 669
- Enfeoffment of the Ninth True Inheritance — Chu Mu’s appointment drew widespread attention because the Ninth True Inheritance remained publicly unidentified and absent for more than a century. 658
- Sky Palace Relic expedition — the sect committed immense manpower and resources to the Outer Sea relic, resulting in catastrophic casualties. 678 702 716
- Immortal Spirit Mountain incident — after five clans murdered a sect deacon investigating the Saint Spirit Sect relic, the sect uncovered their involvement and exterminated them. 749
- Demon Calamity — the sect lost much of its leadership and territory; several True Inheritances became demons or died. 878
- Yan Yun reconstruction — surviving disciples rebuilt order in the Yan Yun Mountain Range using Golden Core Direct Disciples, hired rogue cultivators, and the restored Longevity Authority network. 894 898
- Retreat and relocation — survivors sheltered in the Immortal Spirit Abode, then established a new Longevity Sect lineage at Kunwu Immortal Mountain in another world. 1011 1013
