Babimayna's En was neither particularly large nor particularly small. It could probably envelop an entire multi-room hotel apartment, inside and out. So as he kept his En spread out while searching for the way, Jing Yang and the others following him were naturally within its range as well.
So this is what it feels like to be observed through someone else's En? It doesn't seem all that special.
As Jing Yang was thinking this, he followed Babimayna to their destination—among the heaps of rubble beneath the moonlight.
The several Blanche Company staff members following behind looked hesitant and murmured something into their earpieces.
Babimayna soon stopped before a massive boulder. With one hand, he shoved the multi-ton rock, turning it slightly to reveal a side that had previously been hard to notice.
"This is it." Shizuku's glasses slid a little farther down her nose.
The base of the rock was concealed by weeds. Menchi pushed aside the grass, stared at the strange, bizarre scribbles, then turned back in confusion. "These are the Divine Characters you mentioned?"
The densely packed symbols resembled totems from an ancient age, instinctively bringing to mind words like ritual, ignorance, primitiveness, and mystery...
Shizuku reached out to touch the Divine Characters on the stone, but Jing Yang grabbed her wrist. "Not yet. We don't know what these Divine Characters are for."
He turned and asked, "Is this the only one?"
"For now, this is the only one we've found—who's there?" Babimayna's eyes suddenly sharpened as he looked elsewhere.
Whooo... whooo...
A cold wind suddenly rose.
The Kakin soldiers immediately drew their pistols and aimed in that direction.
There was nothing there.
Jing Yang, Menchi, and Shizuku immediately gathered aura in their eyes.
Sure enough, a deathly pale boy's "ghost" slowly emerged like a ghostly flame.
The Blanche Company staff, meanwhile, were completely baffled, unable to understand what everyone was freaking out about.
Jing Yang and the other two gathered aura in their ears once more. Soon, they heard chilling words coming from the pale ghost. "Hui Guo Rou... must die... Hui Guo Rou... must die..."
As those curse-like words echoed, more and more jade-green points of light appeared in the surrounding woods. They were the Fanged Moon Tigers that had scattered earlier.
Pairs of tiger eyes watched the humans from the darkness.
"Hui Guo Rou... must die..."
The pale ghost repeated the words again and again, making the atmosphere increasingly eerie.
Noticing how Jing Yang and the others reacted, Babimayna had a thought. He gathered aura in his ears, and a slight change finally came over his usually calm face.
A sheen of sweat appeared on Menchi's forehead. Shizuku, however, seemed unaffected. She simply gazed curiously at the pale ghost, which seemed somewhat like the boss she had acknowledged. If Jing Yang knew what she was thinking, he would definitely flick her on the forehead. How did they look alike at all?
Babimayna gave a look, and his subordinates understood at once. They flashed away, and several muffled thuds sounded from behind them.
Jing Yang and the others turned around. The Kakin soldiers had used their pistol grips to knock out the Blanche Company staff, then lowered them gently to the ground.
"Prince Nastie?" Babimayna looked at the pale ghost.
"Hui Guo Rou... must die..." The ghost did not answer. Its eye sockets were equally pale, revealing no expression.
Babimayna frowned and tested again. "The young prince?"
Menchi could not help grumbling inwardly. What is going on? Why is this Kakin guy trying names like princes and royalty the moment he sees a ghost?
Do Kakin's princes have such a high mortality rate?
"Hui Guo Rou... must die..."
The pale ghost's voice became even more hollow. Even the moonlight overhead seemed to turn more bone-piercingly cold, raising goosebumps all over their bodies.
"Hey, hey, isn't that—"
At that moment, Dago and the others arrived after searching nearby. At a glance, they spotted the pale ghost confronting Babimayna, Jing Yang, and the others. At the same time, they were startled by the dense, flowing-fire-like glow around them. "Why have so many Fanged Moon Tigers gathered here?"
"You found something?"
Dago and the others approached. When they saw the unconscious Blanche Company staff lying on the ground, they all stiffened, exchanged looks, and glanced toward Jing Yang's group.
"Well, aside from that little thing, this is what we found." Jing Yang glanced at the pale ghost and pointed at the densely packed Divine Characters on the boulder. "If you inject Nen aura into them, something might happen. No guarantee it'll be a good thing—or safe."
Dago and the others hesitated. "What do you think?"
Jing Yang looked to the side. "What do the two beauties think?"
"I'll follow your lead," Shizuku said.
Menchi shrugged. "Quit pretending. Just say it."
Jing Yang smiled. "Getting paid to do a job. That's what professionalism is."
"True Martial King?" Babimayna tested another name, or perhaps a title.
"Stop trying, buddy. He says Hui Guo Rou must die, and you're not Hui Guo Rou, so what the hell are you nervous about?" Jing Yang jerked his chin. "See? He hasn't done anything to you, has he? Let's check this out instead. We're going to touch these Divine Characters, and if something happens—"
Jing Yang, Menchi, Shizuku, Dago, and the others attempted to inject aura into the densely packed Divine Characters covering the boulder's surface. To their surprise, the instant their Nen entered, they transformed into balls of white light and crashed into the boulder, vanishing among the Divine Characters.
"If something happens..." Jing Yang's voice abruptly cut off in the night.
"What?!"
The Kakin soldiers were dumbfounded, but their faces soon went pale. A sinister, icy, utterly terrifying aura began to swell madly near them.
It was the ghost!
The pale boy ghost grew wildly like a prairie fire, instantly transforming into a four-winged, two-legged skeletal demon dragon.
"Is this level of aura even real?!"
Babimayna immediately raised Ken around his body and took two steps back. "Nen filled with malice..."
"Hui Guo Rou..."
Ghostly green flames danced within the hollow eyes of the four-winged bone dragon. Its enormous skull slowly lowered toward Babimayna, and its voice was even emptier than its appearance. "Must die...!!"
Under the empty moonlight, the bone dragon's roar was like a blood-curdling wail, though ordinary people could not hear it.
Among the patches of fluorescent light and pairs of shadowy tiger eyes nearby, one pair was somewhat unusual—Jing Yang, possessing Wu Er, watched everything with a stunned expression.
'Endless Through All Lifetimes' 'Specialist · Cooperative Type' 'A soul that died with hatred and the Nen beast residing within it miraculously merged into one, leaving behind undying resentment that lingered in the land left behind by ancient ancestors... Using Fanged Moon Tigers as vessels for reincarnation, lifetime after lifetime, its resentment never faded... It possessed no true consciousness or intelligence. Only when it encountered a Royal Family bloodline of Hui Guo Rou would its truly savage killing intent be awakened...'
"Jing Yang, what's wrong?"
In the dimly lit passageway, Menchi waved a hand before Jing Yang's eyes. "Did that fall knock you stupid?"
"I don't understand it, but I'm deeply shaken."
Jing Yang came back to himself, grabbed Shizuku's outstretched hand, and sprang to his feet. He dusted himself off, then looked around. "What kind of hellhole is this?"
Several flashlight beams shone over. Jing Yang squinted against the glare and raised a finger toward them. Panicked voices immediately came from the other side. "Don't do anything rash! It's us!"
Dago and the others moved their flashlights away. "It's us!"
"Why are you waving those around?" Jing Yang said irritably. "If I accidentally killed you just now, it would've counted as friendly fire!"
Dago was a little embarrassed, but he could not bring himself to apologize.
Jing Yang did not care. He casually dispersed the Finger Flick Divine Art he had just condensed, wasting nearly 100 aura.
Just then, Jing Yang suddenly noticed something. He gathered more aura in his eyes and carefully examined the stone walls of the passageway.
"Is there something there?" Menchi came closer.
Shizuku also gathered aura in her eyes curiously and said in surprise, "There's writing on the wall?"
"This is a message written with Nen aura. Only Nen Users can see it." Jing Yang commented, "What a pointless show-off. Anyone who can get in here would have to be a Nen User capable of triggering the Divine Characters, right? Yet they still left writing on the wall that you have to use Gyo to see. What are they showing off for..."
He asked Dago and the others, "What does this place look like to you?"
Dago and the others were also copying Jing Yang's group and using Gyo to examine the Nen writing on the walls. Hearing this, they answered, "It's probably an ancient tomb..."
"No wonder," Jing Yang muttered.
Menchi read the line of Nen writing on the wall. " 'Do me a favor, don't disturb this place.—Ging Freecss' ..."
