He is nevertheless capable of decisive command under pressure. History

Founding the Demon Clan

After being driven away from the gourd-distribution conflict, Di Jun concludes that he and Taiyi lack sufficient followers. He begins gathering Innate Great Gods on the Sun Star, presenting the Witch Clan and an unidentified dojo thief as common threats in order to expand his influence. 54

With Bai Ze's support, Di Jun formally establishes the Demon Clan and becomes its Demon Emperor. Heavenly Dao merit and fortune strengthen the clan's leadership, while the Heavenly Dao grants them the thirty-two-layered Heavenly Court as a secret realm. 55

Early Witch–Demon War

Di Jun launches an early campaign against the Witch Clan believing superior numbers will secure victory. The Witch Clan's elite combat power proves vastly stronger: Di Jun struggles against Zhurong and Gonggong, while the Ten Great Demon Sages are overwhelmed by the Ancestor Witches. 56 57

Recognizing that continued fighting would destroy his army, Di Jun orders a retreat to the Heavenly Court. He then leads the Demon Clan in reinforcing the Heavenly Court's protective formations while Taiyi's Chaos Bell holds back the Witch Clan's Space and Time Laws. 57

Nuwa's Entry into the Demon Clan

Bai Ze persuades Di Jun that recruiting Nuwa is necessary to keep the Demon Clan from being targeted by the Three Pure Ones or the Witch Clan after a future Saint emerges. Di Jun initially resists because of his conflicts with Bai Chen and because Nuwa's share of the clan's merit and fortune would diminish his own. 106

Di Jun offers Fuxi the position of Xi Huang to secure Nuwa's cooperation. After the Demon Clan apologizes for its conflict with East Prince Gong, Nuwa agrees to join—but demands thirty percent of the Demon Clan's fortune and merit. 107 116

Nuwa's accession fundamentally limits Di Jun's authority. Although he remains Heavenly Emperor, he is forced to recognize that the Demon Clan's Saint can remove him if he defies her. 138 342

Heavenly Marriage and the Golden Crows

Di Jun pursues a Heavenly Marriage with Xihe, believing their union will bring merit and fortune. Bai Ze advises him to offer Bai Chen a share of the resulting merit rather than a fixed payment. 204

At their wedding, Bai Chen publicly claims that Di Jun and Xihe will have ten sons. The prediction later comes true when Xihe gives birth to ten Golden Crows, bringing Di Jun immense joy and renewed hope for his bloodline. 212 218

After his sons escape the Sun Star and cause destruction, they are attacked by the Witch Clan. Di Jun and Xihe pay an enormous ransom to recover the surviving crows, only to find them grievously injured and burdened by Great Karmic Debt. 226 231

Decline of Authority

Bai Chen repeatedly exploits Di Jun's concern for reputation, forcing him to pay fees, surrender wealth, and tolerate public humiliation. During Houtu's sermon, Di Jun pays five hundred million Merit and Fortune Coins merely to enter the dojo, only to find his defeat by Bai Chen displayed publicly. 275

As Nuwa and Bai Chen redistribute the Demon Clan's merit and fortune, Di Jun's political base weakens. Several Demon Sages become neutral, defect, or cooperate with Bai Chen, while Di Jun increasingly depends on Bai Ze and Taiyi. 292 298

He also suffers public disgrace after Bai Chen engineers a relationship between Xihe and Fuxi. Though Di Jun later reconciles with Xihe for the sake of the Great Zhou Celestial Array, the betrayal leaves him distrustful and isolated. 306 349

Final Witch–Demon Battle

Di Jun mobilizes the Demon Clan for a final attempt to defeat the Witch Clan and become the protagonist of heaven and earth. He assigns Demon Saint Ci Tie to slaughter the Human Race for materials to refine the Witch-Slaying Sword. 349

The campaign collapses when the Witch Clan summons Pangu's True Body and several Demon Sages abandon their positions in the Great Zhou Celestial Array. Di Jun attempts to reclaim the Hetu Luoshu by force and fights Bai Chen with the Witch-Slaying Sword and Sun True Fires. 402

Xihe is fatally wounded and self-destructs, causing Di Jun to break through to peak Quasi-Saint. Despite releasing all Three Corpses, he is overwhelmed by Bai Chen, Xuanming, and the Witch Clan's reinforcements. 403

With defeat unavoidable, Di Jun gives Lu Ya to Bai Ze and covers their retreat. After his Evil Corpse is destroyed and Bai Chen shatters his defenses with the Heaven Measuring Ruler, he is captured. 405
