Wan Haihao entered Caolu Academy as an enthusiastic senior alongside Ma Ran, Su Qiangwei, and Dong Huaiming. Before entering the extraordinary world, he had been a gifted academic: provincial top scorer in the college entrance examination, doctoral candidate, and someone whose life had proceeded smoothly. Ma Ran’s overwhelming talent shattered that certainty, leaving Wan increasingly prone to inferiority and self-doubt despite his genuine admiration for him. 9 18 28

Ma Ran nevertheless recognized Wan as a potential warrior: curious, observant, intelligent, psychologically fragile, and deeply committed to responsibility and honor. Wan became one of the first students whom Ma Ran personally guided into Inner Qi cultivation, refining his first wisp of inner energy through the Black Rock Guidance Technique. 18 20

After the Area A3 Nightmare Incident, Wan began hearing a voice in his mind. The speaker was Lin Qiubai, the remnant soul of the Sword Head of Cangming Star, who initially attempted to dominate Wan’s body. The backlash left Wan unconscious, while Lin’s remnant seemingly vanished after the battle. Wan later burned his old diary as a farewell to his former self and resolved to become a qualified Guardian. Personality

He is thoughtful, observant, and prone to overanalyzing himself. Because he had lived without major setbacks before joining Caolu Academy, Ma Ran’s rapid growth severely damaged Wan’s confidence.
