Five Years
'Beep beep beep... Beep beep beep...' Battle Power: 990
"So this was the Battle Power Detector Version 2.0? It was more accurate than the first-generation detector, and its functions were more complete as well.
"If I didn't want to expose all of my strength in the future, I'd have to use more mental energy to suppress fluctuations in my ki.
"My control over ki had to improve further."
As he toyed with the Battle Power Detector in his hand, Talot familiarized himself with its new functions while studying the improvements made after its upgrade.
As a Transmigrator, he was more familiar with this thing than anyone.
A Transmigrator? That's right!
Talot was not from this world. He had transmigrated here from another world.
It had been five years now.
He still remembered that day five years ago.
As a Dragon Ball fan, after learning of Toriyama's passing, he had rewatched the Dragon Ball anime series to mourn his lost youth.
He started with the first series, then Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT, along with numerous movies, spin-offs, and more...
Although he had watched at double and triple speed, fast-forwarding and focusing on the exciting parts, after staying up for an entire day and night, his already unhealthy body had still unleashed its ultimate move.
His vision went dark, and he passed out.
By the time he woke up, his soul had already transmigrated into this world, where he had become a newborn Saiyan.
From fear to excitement, from excitement to unease, then from unease and confusion to helplessness, he had eventually adapted to his reborn identity as time passed.
He had been lucky. His Battle Power had been 200 at birth, meeting the standard for an Elite Warrior. From the very beginning, his status had been higher than that of a Low-Class Warrior, so he had not been sent directly to invade a low-level planet and fend for himself like some defective product.
In the five years since his transmigration, aside from spending his first year in a growth chamber thinking nonsense and sleeping, Talot had started all kinds of routines after leaving the chamber in his second year.
He had frantically gathered information about the current era, while gradually training and growing stronger according to the plans he had made for himself.
Although his child's body was still tiny and fragile, a Saiyan's physique was extraordinarily powerful, far beyond that of ordinary races.
Just comparing his body in his previous life to this one, the difference had been immense.
Of course, that was the impression Talot got from the innate strength possessed by Saiyans in this life.
Setting strength aside, Talot had already been as big as the three-year-olds from his previous life when he was just one year old.
As for whether he could withstand overloaded training? Only after trying it himself did Talot understand why Son Gohan's body had been so powerful at four years old, and why Trunks and Son Goten had been so ridiculously strong as children!
It simply could not be described by common sense. There was only what you did not dare to imagine.
All in all, during these years on Planet Vegeta, he had grown accustomed to life as a Saiyan and laid a solid foundation through his own training methods.
His Battle Power had risen from 200 to 990! It was worth mentioning that Talot had taught himself Ki Cultivation without a teacher.
Though he was not especially proficient and could only control his own strength and sense ki within a small area, that was already no simple feat.
It was precisely because he had been able to control his ki from the very beginning that his Battle Power had increased so quickly over the past few years without anyone noticing.
Otherwise, if others had learned of it, he would probably have been controlled by someone with ulterior motives before long.
After sighing, Talot controlled his ki and lowered it until the Battle Power reading on the detector finally stabilized at 350. Only then did he stop suppressing his ki and put the detector away.
As for why he had suppressed it to that level, his Battle Power had been 200 at birth. As his body continued to grow, and with Saiyans being naturally battle-hungry, his Battle Power would gradually rise even without training.
Take others his age, for example. Elite Warriors with Battle Power in the two- to three-hundred range generally increased by around thirty to fifty points a year.
Reaching 350 at the age of five would not make him a genius, nor would it make him useless.
Talot had done it deliberately. He was an adult, and a Transmigrator besides. Naturally, he knew just how terrifying this world truly was.
Keeping a low profile was the true way to survive.
Otherwise, take Raditz, who was the same age as him. Raditz had also been born with only 200 Battle Power, yet his Battle Power had already reached 500 by now.
Such a rate of improvement was extremely rare within the entire race.
He had displayed extraordinary talent, which was why he had become a member of the Prince's team.
Others might think that was fortunate, an honor even, but in truth, he had simply been fitted with a collar.
Still, Raditz was not actually useless at all. At the very least, he had displayed talent comparable to Elite Warriors at only five years old.
Talot truly could not understand why Raditz had only possessed 1,500 Battle Power when he invaded Earth in the original story.
It was pure plot-induced death.
Talot had once thought Raditz was merely a braggart, but after coming to this world, he learned that Raditz worked quite hard. At least on the surface, Raditz was even more diligent than Talot when it came to increasing his strength.
Coming back to his senses, Talot stood on the hillside and looked down, able to see the outline of the entire city.
Calling it a city was an exaggeration. It was really only the size of a village town.
Looking into the distance, he saw an enormous fortress. That was the Saiyans' Royal City, a city built in recent years with the help of Alien technological forces.
As an Elite Warrior, he was actually qualified to live in the Royal City. But because his parents had both been Low-Class Warriors and had died long ago, Talot lived outside the Royal City like the vast majority of low-class Saiyans.
Only after earning enough achievements himself could he squeeze into the circle of Elite Warriors.
Of course, Talot did not care much about any of that.
The classifications of low-class, elite, and warrior were, in the end, just comparisons of innate advantages.
Innate talent was certainly important, but acquired growth was what could not be ignored.
No matter how much natural talent one possessed, if it was not properly developed and used, one would ultimately be nothing more than an ant.
Take Vegeta from the original story. Over more than twenty years, he had seemingly invaded planets and fought endlessly throughout the Universe, but his limited vision had constrained his growth, leaving his Battle Power at only 18,000.
For Talot, living outside the Royal City was actually a good thing. At least he was free and unrestrained.
Five years had passed. I didn't have much time left, yet my Battle Power still hadn't broken through the 1,000 mark.
As he walked down the mountain, Talot thought to himself.
Back when he watched anime, read manga, and later read novels, he had thought that as long as one was reborn as a Saiyan and worked hard enough, their Battle Power would shoot upward without end. But once it truly happened to him, personal experience told him just how cruel reality could be.
Improving one's strength was not something that could be achieved through hard work alone. Battle Power was not something that could rise just because one wanted it to.
Those fanfics where Battle Power casually surpassed hundreds of millions or trillions were complete nonsense.
