Background / History
Vegeta was born as the son of King Vegeta and heir to the Saiyan throne. His birth Battle Power of 2,000 set the historical Saiyan record until another newborn was recorded at 10,000. 24
At five years old, Vegeta was already an Elite Warrior with a Battle Power above 3,000. King Vegeta sent him, Raditz, Nappa, and other warriors to Planet Rump on what was presented as a training mission. Vegeta treated the campaign as routine, confident that no target on the assigned planet could challenge him. 18
Planet Vegeta was destroyed while Vegeta was away. He subsequently served under Frieza, learning to conceal his anger and endure humiliation rather than openly challenge an opponent he could not defeat. 88
Nearly three years after the planet's destruction, Vegeta encountered Talot and Selari on Dadalaer Planet. Their overwhelming Battle Powers shattered his assumption that royal blood and status guaranteed supremacy. 83
Personality
Vegeta is intensely proud of his royal heritage and consistently identifies himself as the Prince of the Saiyans. He considers submission beneath his dignity and initially expects other Saiyans to recognize his authority automatically. 83 154
His pride is paired with unusual self-awareness. Even as a child, he understood that Raditz had been assigned to him for political and practical reasons, and he respected Bardock's strength rather than blindly accepting the complaints of his flatterers. 14
Defeat does not break Vegeta's resolve. Being overwhelmed by Goku, Talot, Cell, and stronger opponents repeatedly becomes motivation for further training. He can be reckless and overconfident in battle, but he is capable of learning from humiliation and seeking new paths to power. 154 281 282 291
Appearance
Vegeta is a Saiyan warrior with distinctive upright, rocket-shaped hair. His hair shifts from black to gold when he becomes a Super Saiyan. 273
- As a Super Saiyan, he has golden hair, a golden aura, and dramatically increased Battle Power. 158 273
- His Super Saiyan Blue and Blue Evolved forms wield godly power. 321 337
- His attacks and transformations can generate global storms, tremors, and widespread environmental destruction. 291 321
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Physiology
Vegeta possesses the Saiyan capacity for rapid growth, transformation, and recovery-driven increases in power.
- His near-death recovery after Goku's defeat raises his Battle Power to nearly 500,000. 154
- He can unlock latent potential under extreme pressure, as shown when Goku's Super Saiyan aura drives him beyond 200,000 Battle Power. 153
- He regrows his tail and later pursues Super Saiyan 4 through Great Ape power. 297
Super Saiyan Transformations
Vegeta develops through multiple Super Saiyan forms rather than remaining at a single transformation.
- Achieves Super Saiyan independently after witnessing Goku's form and grasping its essence. 154 158
- Reaches Super Saiyan 2 peak through dedicated training. 229
- Masters Super Saiyan 3 and begins pursuing Super Saiyan 4. 297
- Evolves from Super Saiyan Blue into Super Saiyan Blue Evolved, then Super Saiyan Blue 3. 337 351
Prince Fighting Style
Vegeta uses an aggressive, high-output combat style based on rapid close-quarters assaults and relentless Energy Blast barrages.
- Bombards Broly with repeated Energy Blasts while fighting as a Super Saiyan. 219
- Uses the style effectively enough to initially pressure Cell, but its excessive energy consumption allows Cell to outlast him. 282
- His attacks are repeatedly described as forceful, direct, and intended to overwhelm opponents through sustained offense. 154 295
Galick Gun
Vegeta's signature white-violet energy beam technique.
- Its destructive force can rival a Battle Power of 300,000. 154
- Uses stronger variants, including Super Galick Gun, against Talot. 291
- Can be neutralized by vastly superior opponents, including Son Goku and Talot. 154 291
Final Flash
A high-output finishing attack requiring substantial power buildup.
- Vegeta prepares it against Talot in Super Saiyan Blue, creating worldwide tremors and storms. 321
- Talot blocks the attack one-handed, demonstrating the gap between them. 321
- Vegeta later employs it against Goku Black and forces intervention from a stronger alternate Goku Black. 337
Relationships
- King Vegeta — Father and former Saiyan king. Vegeta inherits his royal status, while King Vegeta's fear of exceptional Saiyan talent shapes the prince's early environment. 24 25
- Nappa — Longtime subordinate and companion. Nappa escorts Vegeta as a child, later becomes both rival and reluctant target of Vegeta's contempt. 18 186 195
- Raditz — Childhood associate assigned to Vegeta's group; Vegeta initially treats him with disdain due to their difference in power. 6 83
- Son Goku / Kakarot — Rival whose Super Saiyan transformation defeats Vegeta and drives his pursuit of greater power; their rivalry continues through later training and battles. 152 154 290 295
- Talot — A Saiyan whose overwhelming strength repeatedly challenges Vegeta's self-image. Talot heals him after Goku's battle, reveals higher Super Saiyan stages, and becomes a benchmark Vegeta seeks to surpass. 154 282 283 290 291
- Future Trunks — His future son from another timeline. Vegeta initially ignores him but later trains alongside him for two years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. 275 290
- Frieza — Vegeta's former master and major enemy. Vegeta's hatred and fear of Frieza are rooted in his years of serving under him after Planet Vegeta's destruction. 88 158
- Broly — Saiyan exiled by King Vegeta. Vegeta confronts him on Planet Vampa to test his own Super Saiyan strength. 25 219
