The fireworks that suddenly erupted across the sky were incomparably brilliant, yet they looked exceptionally glaring to Accuser Rob.
He had never expected his probing attack to kill the enemy who had wanted to abduct Astra. It had merely been his usual custom to throw out a little appetizer before battle to show off his might.
What he had not expected was that his opponent would instead give him a show of force.
The energy fluctuations that pierced the heavens filled Rob with alarm.
"That definitely wasn't a Skrull!"
Watching the small battleship leave Tofa Star after the fireworks bloomed and fly into space, Rob—who knew the Skrulls extremely well—immediately darkened.
He had said long ago that the secret Astra carried would surely attract the attention of other forces in the universe, but those old fossils on Planet Hala simply refused to believe him and had dragged things out for this long.
"Prepare to attack!"
Locking his gaze onto the small battleship that had burst out of Tofa, Rob directly gave the order to open fire.
At this point, he could no longer worry about Astra's life. He believed that although Dr. Astra had had conflicts with the Accuser Corps, he would surely understand.
All of this was for the prosperity of the Kree Empire.
The weapons mounted on the warships all activated at Rob's command.
"General Rob! Our left flank is under attack from an unidentified fleet!"
"What did you say?" His subordinate's report made Rob frown deeply. He immediately turned around and looked at the screen before him. Dozens of medium battleships surrounded a large battleship as they slowly advanced toward Tofa.
This army was nearly equal to his own in scale.
"The Kree Accuser Corps, whose full name is the Supreme Accuser Corps of the Kree Empire, is a core stratum of the Kree Empire. It has few members, but every one of them is among the Empire's finest elites.
"Anyone who enters the Supreme Accuser Corps is a Kree who has received extensive higher education and rigorous military training. That is why most members of the Accuser Corps come from Kree aristocratic families."
Aboard the small battleship that had rushed out of Tofa Star, Astra curled his lips disdainfully as he watched the enormous projected screen hanging in midair. Because of their past conflict, he truly looked down on those war-crazed lunatics.
"Mm, then you're quite the failure as a scientist. You made such enormous contributions, yet the nobles of your own country wanted to silence you."
The Other, holding his scepter as he repaired his body, immediately mocked him.
The Other never held back his tongue when facing enemies.
"If you know how to speak, then speak more. If you don't, kindly shut your mouth. No one will think you're mute just because you stay quiet."
Tied up tightly, Astra glared viciously at The Other before him, his threat obvious.
"His Highness Beckett, this is indeed the usual conduct of the Kree Empire's Accuser Corps."
After searching the database, Woz confirmed the truth of Astra's words. Beckett's single strike, which had destroyed the interstellar missile, had bought it enough time to tear open a breach in Tofa Star's Planetary Defense System. Only then had they been able to break through Tofa's planetary defenses and return to the vastness of space.
"Our fleet has already begun exchanging fire with the Accuser's forces. His Highness Beckett, Woz advises you not to enter the battlefield for now to avoid being caught in the crossfire."
The intensity of a space war was no joke. If their warship were suddenly destroyed without warning, even Beckett would not be able to survive alone in this magnificent universe for very long.
Having just piloted the small battleship out of Tofa Star, Woz offered its advice. Beckett stood with his arms crossed over his chest, staring at the images displayed on the screen as he fell into thought.
More precisely, he was staring at the Kree fleet's flagship.
"The Other, how many reinforcements can Chitauri Prime still provide?"
An idea gradually took shape in Beckett's mind. The Other, rarely consulted by Beckett, froze for a moment before suppressing the wild joy in his heart. "As many as you need."
"His Highness Beckett, Woz does not recommend such a reckless assault. Based on the information Woz previously reviewed in Tofa Star's Planetary Defense System, the Kree Empire places extraordinary importance on Dr. Astra."
"They even abandoned their war with the Nova Corps, recalled Accuser Rob from the front lines, and sent him to Tofa for this."
"Furthermore, Accuser Vanas and Accuser Dudek are also on their way to Tofa behind Accuser Rob."
"This is not a wise time to have Chitauri soldiers pilot warships into an assault."
Woz, who understood Beckett, laid all its analysis before him, only for Beckett to sweep it away with a wave of his hand.
"Woz, have the Chitauri fleet begin its assault. Regardless of losses, break the balance of mutual support between the Kree warships, and open Hatch Number Three."
"Yes, His Highness Beckett." Having received the order, Woz began carrying it out without hesitation. At the same time, Beckett strode toward Hatch Number Three.
He was going to carry out the decapitation plan he was best at. No matter how well-trained an army without a leader was, it could not stop him from leaving.
Boom!
An invisible blast of air formed a protective barrier around Beckett's body. Leaping out from Hatch Number Three, Beckett kicked fiercely off the small battleship, shooting straight toward the flagship where Accuser Rob was located like an arrow released from a bow!
"What is he trying to do? Is he courting death?"
Beckett's actions left Astra, aboard the small battleship, dumbfounded.
"Shut up! How could an ordinary mortal like you possibly guess what the great His Highness Beckett is thinking!"
The Other unleashed a torrent of abuse while faithfully carrying Beckett's banner, and did not forget to flatter his master in the process.
What a bootlicker to the bone.
Since his hands and feet were currently unable to move freely, Astra had no choice but to shut up. Instead, he turned his gaze toward the screen and watched the figure that had already rushed close to the flagship.
"General Rob, an extremely powerful energy source is rapidly approaching us!"
"An energy source?"
"Yes, it seems to be... no, it's a person!"
Busy dealing with the Chitauri warships' suicidal charges, Rob could not help turning around. He discovered that an unfamiliar figure had already passed through the chaotic cluster of warships and appeared before the flagship.
"All right, you don't need to report anymore. I can already see him."
Subconsciously picking up the war hammer beside him, Rob walked to the window and looked at the man floating outside it.
His expression was icy, his gaze indifferent. He looked down at Rob, who had walked to the window, as though a lofty god were looking upon an ant beneath his feet.
"Can someone tell me what the hell he is?"
Rob gripped his war hammer and stared in astonishment at the figure before him, whose body occasionally flashed with Golden Flash. He muttered to himself.
The endless energy surging from within allowed Beckett to float before Rob's warship. Golden gleams occasionally flickered amid the invisible currents of air, making Beckett's figure exceptionally dazzling against the backdrop of the vast starry river.
"Disappear."
Beckett raised his hand. Immense energy gathered at the tip of his right index finger. With a light tap of his fingertip, a beam of light directly pierced Rob's chest through the window!!!
Blue blood continuously flowed down his black armor. The flagship, whose engine had also been pierced, began to self-destruct before Beckett. The war hammer dropped helplessly to the floor and, along with the disintegrating flagship, vanished into the boundless depths of space!
Rumble!!!
"Celebrate! The great Son of Titan, His Highness Beckett, Lord of the Chitauri, has displayed his supreme might! All enemies shall be annihilated by His Highness Beckett's power!"
"The light dancing at Your fingertips is our unchanging faith for this lifetime!"
The Other could no longer suppress the passion in his heart. Bolstered by the Azure Scepter, his soaring emotions affected every Chitauri soldier participating in the suicidal assault, making them even more excited to choose... self-destruction!
The Kree Empire's fleet formation was shattered into a complete mess by the endless assaults.
"...You really are a shameless flatterer. You can come up with any kind of nauseating line."
Astra, tied up tightly and slumped on the floor, rolled his eyes as goosebumps rose uncontrollably across his body.
