Background / History
Beckett was born on Planet Vegeta during Frieza's destruction of the Saiyans. His mother placed him in an escape pod, which was drawn through a black hole and landed on Titan. Thanos found the infant amid Titan's ruins, named him Beckett, and formally adopted him despite Ebony Maw confirming that he was not a Titan 1 2.
Raised at Sanctuary and the Dark Order's bases, Beckett began special combat training at age two. Thanos recognized his extraordinary recovery, adaptation, and potential, while Beckett came to view Thanos as both his father and the model of the strength he sought. By age seven, he had committed himself to becoming the universe's strongest warrior: to aid Thanos's ideal and personally kill Frieza for his mother's death 2 4.
Thanos subjected Beckett to a prolonged survival assessment against the Black Order and other combatants. Beckett recorded the injuries inflicted by Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, and Ebony Maw in a notebook, refining his movements and learning to fight magical, technological, and cyborg opponents efficiently 4 6.
After assassinating the Chitauri King, Beckett was given command of the Chitauri legions and residence on Chitauri Prime. Although he initially dismissed the Chitauri as weak and preferred operating alone, Thanos pressed him to understand the strategic value of an army and the need to balance fear with generosity 16 17 18.
Appearance
Beckett is a muscular Saiyan whose usual appearance combines black hair, a stern expression, and a red, steel-hard tail. He commonly wears a loose black combat suit, though he has also used silver armor, white Asgardian robes, and Thanos-forged golden armor 18 84 347.
- Hair — Normally black; turns gold in Super Saiyan states, becomes waist-length in third-stage transformations, crimson/pink in his Dimensional form, and white after inheriting the Heart of the Universe 127 243 386 458.
- Tail — Red and powerful enough to serve as a combat weapon; it was severed in battle, leaving an energy gap in his body 320 441 445.
- Eyes — Often described as cold or indifferent; may become emerald, gold, silver, or white while using higher powers 210 356 458.
- Armor — His golden armor was forged by Thanos, boosts his strength, and leaves his gauntlet-bearing right arm uncovered 347.
Personality
Beckett is intensely proud, emotionally guarded, and dismissive of weakness. Outside of Thanos, he initially shows little attachment to others and maintains an aloof, cold demeanor even among allies 15 60. He is particularly intolerant of mockery or disrespect, a trait that repeatedly provokes conflict with Hela, Ebony Maw, and others 85 136.
His central motivation is vengeance against Frieza. Beckett refuses to let anyone else claim that revenge, and his determination to reach Frieza survives defeats, imprisonment, interdimensional exile, and his conflict with Thanos 4 455 456.
Despite his reliance on force, Beckett gradually develops independence and strategic judgment. His plan to revive The Other marks the first major initiative he proposes without being assigned by Thanos, and he later defeats Darkseid by exploiting his opponent's pride through a calculated feint 139 468.
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Physiology
Beckett possesses the Saiyans' exceptional combat instinct, recovery, and capacity to grow through battle.
- Gains substantial increases in combat ability after surviving severe injury and recovery 2 27.
- Rapidly learns unfamiliar combat methods and can apply an opponent's energy circulation techniques against them 128.
- Has instinctive close-quarters ability, speed, and durability far beyond conventional warriors 24 72.
- Can transform into a Great Ape under moonlight and later control the form 7 8.
Energy Manipulation
Beckett can gather, shape, and fire energy with extreme precision and destructive output.
- Fires energy waves capable of overpowering a planetary defense system and destroying a city's armory 72.
- Creates concentrated energy bullets, beams, barriers, and large-scale projectile barrages 100 240 309.
- Can survive and fight in space by maintaining an energy shield 240.
- Uses energy constructs inspired by Hela's weapon-creation techniques 309.
Adaptive Combat and Ability Copying
Beckett's combat learning extends beyond ordinary technique imitation.
- Replicates Malekith's unfamiliar energy methods during battle 128.
- Copies Ego's spatial movement ability after witnessing it 370.
- Exploits an opponent's psychology when direct physical superiority is insufficient, notably using feigned exhaustion to set up Darkseid 468.
Infinity Stone and Cosmic Power Use
Beckett has repeatedly used Infinity Stone energy despite the severe strain it places on his body.
- Fused and wielded the energy of two Infinity Stones to revive The Other, though the process pushed his body to its limit 149.
- Used the Mind Stone to fuel transformations, but its influence contributed to the unstable Pseudo-Super Saiyan Three route 243 246.
- Later wielded all six Infinity Stones alongside the Heart of the Universe 470.
- The Heart of the Universe grants reality-altering power, including restoring destroyed planets and breaking universal laws 458 459.
Limitations
- His tail was originally a physiological weakness; after it was severed, the resulting imbalance created an energy gap within his body 2 441 445.
- His heart is unusually susceptible to illness and was briefly stopped by hallucinogenic gas 104.
- The Pseudo-Super Saiyan Three form can theoretically last only three minutes without continuous Mind Stone energy and leaves him severely weakened afterward 246.
- Before becoming a Super Saiyan God, the universe's rules suppressed his Saiyan power because his race was not recognized by that universe 161 162.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Woz — A mechanical cat AI and Beckett's constant companion; provides surveillance, medical monitoring, analysis, hacking, combat data, and logistical support 141 246 313.
- Nutrient Pod and Nutrient Fluid — Thanos-designed recovery system that reinforces Beckett's cells, heals injuries, and accelerates recovery after transformations 3 140.
- Transformation amplification device — A gift from Thanos that allows Beckett to transform at will 18.
- Golden armor — Thanos-forged armor that amplifies Beckett's strength and was designed as protection against Odin's Destroyer Armor 347.
- Infinity Gauntlet — Golden right-arm gauntlet used to wield the Infinity Stones 347 482 470.
- Golden Trident — Weapon claimed from the ruins of Atlantis; used to decapitate Darkseid 296 329.
- Exclusive warships — Uses modified Dark Order warships, including a luxurious high-speed vessel built by Woz 140.

- Hela — Initially a hostile rival, later a close combat partner and recurring companion. Their relationship develops through battles, alliances, shared Infinity Stone crises, and Hela's proposal that they conquer the universe together 22 201 426.
- Woz — Loyal mechanical cat AI raised alongside Beckett. Beckett trusts Woz's analysis and relies on it for recovery, reconnaissance, and resurrection plans 141 246 313.
- The Other — Chitauri king and Beckett's fervently devoted subordinate. Beckett resurrects him using Infinity Stone energy after his death 17 149.
- Mera — Ally who repeatedly rescues and supports Beckett, including recovering him after his battle with Thanos and aiding his resurrection plan in another universe 313 457.
- Ebony Maw — Thanos's strategist and one of Beckett's early trainers. Their relationship is frequently tense due to Beckett's impulsiveness, but Maw remains part of his command structure 4 136 365.
- Frieza — Beckett's lifelong target for revenge over Planet Vegeta and his mother's death. Beckett kills the Frieza he encounters in Universe 7, then later has Frieza erased through Zeno's wish 478 479 487.
