Chapter Summaries

Jing He and Botan followed Calyrex’s directions to a metal-rich ruin while searching for Peony and Shakia, and Calyrex warned that the Darkest Day would return in several years. In the ruin’s deepest chamber, Jing He recognized the Unown markings and spotted a powerful Pokémon that looked like Meltan.

• Jing He brought Botan to the Crown Shrine, where Calyrex located Peony and Shakia and warned that darkness would shroud Galar again within a few years.
• Jing He decided that he should seek out Eternatus before the Darkest Day erupted and considered enlisting Zacian and Zamazenta to help.
• Jing He, Botan, and their Pokémon followed Calyrex’s coordinates to an ancient ruin buried beneath the snow and found its entrance with help from Glastrier.
• The group explored the vast metal-rich ruin, where Tyranitar’s presence drove the wild Pokémon away and Rotom mapped their route.
• At the deepest chamber, Jing He recognized Unown patterns and saw a metallic Pokémon that he identified as Meltan.

Jing He rescued Peony and Shakia from an Unown illusion, helped Gengar remove the disruptive Galar Particles, and discovered a giant furnace with molds resembling Zacian’s sword and Zamazenta’s shield. The chapter ended when Tinkaton struck Meltan to remove its rust, causing it to explode into many tiny Meltan.

• Jing He found Peony and Shakia trapped in an illusion cast by Unown, and Peony’s G-Max Copperajah charged at him and his companions.
• Tinkaton, Meltan, and Gengar joined forces to stop Copperajah, while Gengar’s Starsplinter knocked it out of Gigantamax form.
• Gengar used Dark Void to break the Unown’s control, freeing Peony and Shakia, who reunited with Botan and then ate the food Jing He provided.
• Peony explained that dispersed Galar Particles had affected the Unown, and Gengar extracted and swallowed the particles before they could reach Meltan.

• Tinkaton led Jing He toward a call in Slumbering Weald, and Servine used Forest Blessing to open a path through the mist.

• Zacian and Zamazenta explained that they had asked Jing He to spare Sordward and Shielbert because they owed a debt to their ancestor, and they warned that the Darkest Day might return.

• Jing He traveled from Galar to Alola with his Pokémon while Tinkaton continued forging with Meltan metal, and he arrived at the Alola Pokémon School.
• Mallow and Lana told Jing He that Doctor Kukui had left school after Burnet Doctor came to find him, and Lila called to report that a powerful Ultra Beast was causing trouble.

• Jing He went to Bear Infested Forest seeking the Island Guardians and found Bewear mediating a territorial dispute between Pangoro and Passimian.
• Bewear led Jing He to Celesteela, whose roots had disrupted the plants shared by the bamboo grove and forest, and Gladion arrived with Type: Null, which had sensed something beneath the hill.
• Jing He had Tyranitar carefully unearth Celesteela and discovered Cosmog sleeping inside it, then lured Cosmog close with Konpeitō as Gengar befriended it.
• Gladion asked Jing He for a battle so he could become his student, but Jing He accepted him directly and advised him not to burden himself or Type: Null with excessive expectations.
• Gladion realized his pressure might be affecting Type: Null and declared that he wanted to battle Jing He for the experience rather than the outcome, while Bewear applauded and Lila and the others arrived.

Jing He’s class welcomed Gladion, then witnessed Cosmog evolve into Cosmoem and Ice Ninetales reach Legendary-level strength during Celesteela’s launch. The next day, Jing He sought the Naganadel Leader’s help locating Necrozma and exploring Ultra Space.

• Jing He introduced Gladion as the class’s new student and gave the students a test.
• Cosmog teleported to Jing He’s classroom, and Lila told him it could open stable Ultra Wormholes.
• Lunala emerged from an Ultra Wormhole and used moonlight to help Cosmog evolve into Cosmoem, while Ice Ninetales absorbed Ultra Aura and reached Legendary-level strength.

• Tapu Koko brought Jing He to Poni Island, where the Island Guardians activated both altars and created Ice Ninetales Z while accelerating Cosmoem's growth and giving it Solgaleo Z.
• Burnet Doctor and Lusamine discovered that studying Ultra Wormholes strengthened the connection between the worlds, and Lila told Jing He the research could cause more random wormholes to open.
• Pheromosa stole Ice Ninetales Z and Solgaleo Z, then took a Dragon Z-Crystal from the Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o in Poni Grand Canyon.

• Pheromosa gave Gengar the stolen Ice Ninetales Z, Solgaleo Z, Dragon Z-Crystal, and Mimikyu Z, but Totem Kommo-o attacked and Gengar defeated it with Dark Void.

The group reached an abandoned road in the Ultra Deep Sea and continued onward, while signs of a solar eclipse and a waiting researcher hinted that a major event was beginning.

• Jing He and the others emerged into a dark crystal world in Ultra Space, where Nihilego possessed Lusamine and revealed that they were in the Ultra Deep Sea.
• Jing He explained how Nihilego’s neurotoxin amplified its host’s desires, and Sakaki sent out Nidoqueen to strike the Ultra Beast with Stomping Tantrum and rescue Lusamine.
• Gengar, Ice Ninetales, and Tinkaton reunited with Sakaki’s Champion-level Nidoqueen, while Lila confirmed that Lusamine was safe.

A total solar eclipse and a sharp drop in Ultra Aura accompanied Jing He and his companions’ search for the dormant Necrozma in Ultra Space. They found Necrozma awake and devouring light, while Colress and Faba opened another Ultra Wormhole; the chapter ended as Lunala emerged and Necrozma attacked.

• At Pokémon School, Sophocles told Gladion, Lillie, Kiawe, Mallow, Sophocles, Lana, and the others that a real total solar eclipse was occurring and that the Beast That Devours the Sun might have caused past eclipses.
• Burnet Doctor and Wicke noticed Ultra Aura plummeting and worried that Jing He and the others were in danger, but reassured themselves that Jing He was with them.
• The Naganadel Leader guided Jing He and his companions to a lightless valley, where Cosmog’s cries revealed a Dark Stone and the awakened Necrozma began swallowing the surrounding light.
• Jing He recognized the approaching Necrozma, while Colress and the people of Ultra Megalopolis opened an Ultra Wormhole nearby and kept Faba captive.

Jing He, Sakaki, and their Pokémon battled Necrozma after Colress used a fusion device to reunite it with Lunala. They subdued Necrozma and freed Lunala, then considered how to restore Necrozma—and whether to catch it.

• Necrozma attacked Lunala, but Jing He's Pokémon protected Lunala long enough for it to flee through an Ultra Wormhole.
• Colress revealed that he had built a Necrozma-Lunala Fusion Device and used it to make Necrozma intercept Lunala and fuse with it.
• Necrozma emerged at the Altar of the Sunne in its Dawn Wings form, and Jing He and Sakaki fought it with their Pokémon.
• Jing He and Sakaki's team shattered Necrozma's armor, weakened its hold on Lunala, and helped Lunala regain its senses.

Jing He and the people and Pokémon of Alola gathered their light to restore Necrozma, who became Ultra Necrozma and brought Cosmoem’s evolution into Solgaleo. Ultra Necrozma planned to leave with Lunala and Solgaleo to help another world, but Jing He urged them to rest and talk first.

• Jing He explained that Alola’s people and Pokémon needed to share their light to restore Necrozma, and the Island Guardians organized the Manalo Festival preparations across the region.
• The Island Guardians, Alola’s Pokémon, and Z-Move Trainers sent light and Z-Move power into Necrozma, while Tinkaton repeatedly knocked it unconscious when it awoke.

After the Legendary Pokémon returned to Ultra Space, Gengar began feeding light into Ultra Necrozma’s Z-Crystal as the other Colress secretly collected Necrozma’s power.

• N told Jing He that he was happy helping Pokémon and remained reluctant to accept Alder’s offer to train him as Unova Champion, but Jing He urged him to explore the role’s influence, and N agreed to learn more.
• N explained that Ghetsis was imprisoned and that he could not confirm Colress’s status, so Jing He spoke with Alder, who confirmed that the Colress under the Unova League’s control was still imprisoned.
• Jing He realized that the Colress who created the Necrozma-Lunala Fusion Device was an alternate-world counterpart and warned Sakaki that a wider Rainbow Rocket threat might emerge.
• Doctor Kukui, Lusamine, and Lila announced the existence of Ultra Beasts and Ultra Space, while footage of Necrozma becoming Ultra Necrozma spread online and raised Sakaki’s public standing.

• Jing He took the students to Kala'e Bay for shore foraging and told them to stay within his sight.
• Cynthia told Jing He she was ready to challenge Victory Road, and he jokingly threatened to battle Volkner, Aaron, and Watari to pressure them on her behalf.
• Gladion challenged Jing He, and Servine defeated Type: Null, whose helmet cracked as Gladion urged it to keep fighting.
• Type: Null transformed into Silvally, accepted the Fire Memory, and attacked Servine, but Servine knocked it out with Leaf Storm.

Cynthia began her Sinnoh Victory Road challenge while Jing He arranged an extravagant show of support with Gengar, the Creation Trio, and Darkrai. After Cynthia set off, Jing He left to rescue a lost Leon, who had wandered into Sinnoh’s outer seas.

• Sinnoh spectators filled the Lily of the Valley venue with signs cheering for Cynthia and teasing Jing He, while Cynthia, Diantha, Caitlin, Jing He, Wataru, and Steven Stone talked in the lounge.
