Cosmology and Environment
Place Among the Worlds
- Countless Lesser Worlds lie beneath the Earth Immortal Realm, including human, yao, demonic, and feral-beast worlds 685.
- Human territory alone is larger than many Lesser Worlds combined 685.
- The realm is not unique: other Middle Thousand Worlds also contain Human, Yao, and Mo populations, sometimes with very different alliances 1020.
- Despite its name, it is distinct from both the True Immortal Realm and an Earth Immortal Spirit Realm, the personal domain cultivated through an Earth Immortal inheritance 686 911.
Natural Conditions
- Seven suns appear in its sky, with nine moons at night 585.
- Heaven and Earth Origin Energy is dense enough for Spirit Transmutation cultivators to cast spells freely without the spiritual-energy backlash experienced in the lower realm 585.
- Remote wilderness separates some sect territories by hundreds of thousands of miles. These regions contain natural disasters and roaming Spirit Transmutation-level desolate beasts 624.
- Its spatial laws are less destructive than those of the True Immortal Realm: destroyed storage treasures may leave recoverable contents rather than having everything annihilated 896.
- Newly achieved immortals face rejection by the realm's laws. Fang Xi's Spirit Domain Power blocks the Chains of Law directed at him, but does not initially remove that rejection 945.
Geography
| Location | Description |
|---|---|
| Sunset Plains | An immense region containing countless mountains, vast lakes, and over a thousand mortal kingdoms. High-level cultivators reportedly need decades to cross it at full speed 586. |
| Liang Kingdom and Ding Kingdom | Neighboring mortal states whose armies engage in routine conflicts 586. |
| Mo Family's Mechanism City | A floating city outside Ding Kingdom's capital, suspended above a lake spanning tens of thousands of miles 589. |
| Profound Nether Abyss | A hazardous resource region containing yao beasts, Unpredictable Wind, and Ghost Gate Reef; later altered by the Black Tide 594 661. |
| Three Realms Mountain | Former borderland of the Human, Yao, and Mo races, a major battlefield, and the realm's core hub and central axis 955. |
| Heavenly Brahma Domain | A human domain geographically distant from Three Realms Mountain; its connection to the battlefield depends on a Super Teleportation Array 746. |
| Yueyao Immortal City | A cultivation city with intelligence services, guest elders, and military formation inheritances from the Taiyin Secret Realm 740 745. |
| Penglai Immortal Pavilion | Fang Xi's base in the Earth Immortal Realm; news of its Body Integration cultivator spreads across human territory 775 896. |
| Tianyuan City | Becomes the Human Race's foremost holy land, centered on the Heaven-Connecting Spirit Tablet's missions and exchanges 929. |
Three Realms Mountain
- Its position at the world's central axis makes it Fang Xi's preferred starting point for refining Heaven and Earth Origin 955.
- Fang Xi attributes the three major races' deep destiny and enduring blessings to their settlement around this region 955.
- After incorporation into human territory, old battlefields and the remains of fallen experts continue to attract treasure seekers despite their dangers 955.
- Fang Xi's ninth-tier formation turns his refinement site into a forbidden zone 955.
Cultivation System
Realm Hierarchy
| Realm | Position and Significance |
|---|---|
| Qi Refining | Beginning of the standard cultivation path 589. |
| Foundation Establishment | Follows Qi Refining 589. |
| Core Formation | Follows Foundation Establishment; advancement is easier here than in the lower realms 589 676. |
| Nascent Soul | Follows Core Formation; also more accessible than in the lower realms 589 676. |
| Spirit Transmutation / Spirit Transformation | The lower realms' cultivation limit and the threshold for ordinary ascension to the Earth Immortal Realm 523 589. |
| Void Returning | A major bottleneck even for talented ascenders; cultivators generally possess lifespans of ten thousand years 589 676. |
| Body Integration / Integrated Body | A top-tier realm whose cultivators generally live for tens of thousands of years 589 773. |
| Mahayana / Great Ascension | The practical pinnacle of cultivation within the realm. Its cultivators are also called Loose Immortals and seek tribulation-crossing ascension to the True Immortal Realm 589. |
Bottlenecks and Tribulations
- From Void Returning onward, cultivation breakthroughs bring heavenly tribulations; a late Void Returning breakthrough produces a Minor Heavenly Tribulation 589 760.
- Great Ascension cultivators must survive nine Immortal Lightning Tribulations before ordinary ascension to immortality 648 892.
- The Earth Immortal Realm develops new cultivation methods. The Wood Blade Art, created within the preceding ten thousand years, uses opposing attributes to attempt the Void Returning breakthrough 591.
- Ascenders who relied on fast-progressing single-attribute methods often need to supplement them before reaching Void Returning 676.
Resources and Trade
- Pills that increase Void Returning Magical Power are astronomically expensive 685.
- Body Integration cultivation pills are exceptionally rare, with many no longer available. Cultivators commonly rely on aptitude, cultivation methods, favorable spiritual environments, and long periods of practice 685.
- Barter is the mainstream exchange method among high-level cultivators 836.
- Immortal Jade can readily be exchanged for top-grade spirit stones, but exchanging spirit stones for Immortal Jade is difficult 748.
Ascension and Realm Travel
Entering the Earth Immortal Realm
- Spirit Transmutation early- and middle-stage cultivators can ascend through an Ascension Platform; those at completion can open their own void passage 523.
- Anyone below Spirit Transmutation attempting such a passage risks being crushed by inter-realm spatial pressure 523.
- Travel through the Great Void exposes ascenders to fierce beasts and Void Storms. Fang Xi's group narrowly survives both a minor storm and a developing massive storm 672.
- Ordinary ascension cannot carry intelligent living beings inside spatial dwellings. Contracted natal spirit beasts are among the exceptions 586.
- The Myriad Heavens Treasure Mirror bypasses ordinary restrictions, carrying living creatures between realms and ignoring interface power 586 734.
Arrival Obligations
- Ascenders received at Three Realms Mountain undergo Magical Power registration to obtain identification 672.
- Use of the Ascension Platform incurs a personnel fee or military-service obligation. Redemption requires rare spiritual goods or a thousand top-grade spirit stones 672.
- Recorded Magical Power allows the Heavenly Brahma Army to identify deserters; Fang Xi's External Incarnation must complete its service or purchase freedom 695.
- The system was established by the Five Sons of the Human Race and tacitly approved by numerous human Great Ascension cultivators 1021.
Leaving for the True Immortal Realm
- The normal destination is the Immortal Washing Pool of Beichen Immortal Palace, within the Beichen Immortal Domain 1005 1020.
- Human, Yao, and Mo ancestors who ascend may consequently become colleagues in the same palace despite their lower-realm conflicts 1020.
- The pool's location is tied to matching spatial nodes. Moving the receiving formation improperly can scatter ascenders across the True Immortal Realm or throw them into Void Storms 1093 1100.
Descent to Lower Realms
- Cross-realm invasions are costly, and the Earth Immortal Realm can neither reliably supervise nor freely interfere with lower-realm affairs 418.
- Realm Descent provides a special, brief opportunity for intervention. The Yao and Mo races continue pursuing it after the human side has largely abandoned the practice 418.
- Void Returning cultivators without Spirit Domain Power face lower-realm suppression and possible expulsion through forced ascension 661.
Races and Political Powers
- Human Race — Occupies Ninety-nine Domains. Its Five Sons are described as its highest cultivators and bear the fortune of the race 672 740.
- Yao Race — A principal rival of humanity, involved in Realm Descent campaigns and renewed large-scale warfare 418 740.
- Mo Race — Another major race; its territory becomes the principal battlefield during the four-race war 880.
- Foreign races — Many possess unusual innate spiritual powers but lack the strength of the three major races. They seek protection from larger races or survive in dangerous hidden regions 646.
- Foreign Race Alliance — Joins the Yao invasion, expanding the conflict into a four-race war 824.
Military Organization
- Human forces include the Heavenly Brahma Army, which recruits ascenders through their arrival obligations 695.
- Yueyao Immortal City's reported Taiyin Dao Soldier formation combines a Void Returning core, specialized soldiers, and tens or hundreds of thousands of low-level cultivators 745.
- Such formations can reportedly deliver Body Integration-level destructive power, but are cumbersome to move and vulnerable to internal disruption 745.
History
Fang Xi's Arrival
Fang Xi first recognizes the realm through its seven suns, nine moons, and abundant Origin Energy. His External Incarnation then explores its wilderness and spends three years blending into mortal society while avoiding unnecessary Magical Power use 585 586.
After subduing Wei Qingfeng and Shi Dingfeng, he confirms the world's identity through their memories and learns its higher cultivation hierarchy. He subsequently reaches the Mo family's Mechanism City outside Ding Kingdom's capital 589.
Renewed Racial Warfare
Fang Xi, Yun Xi Fairy, Liu Xu, and Little Green later arrive through the Ascension Platform at Three Realms Mountain. Their reception takes place during a lull following a Great War between the Three Races, when only small-scale skirmishes remain 672.
The Human–Yao War subsequently reignites, spreading unrest throughout the Human Race's Ninety-nine Domains. With the Foreign Race Alliance joining the invasion, the conflict develops into a four-race war 740 824.
Human Consolidation
After pacifying the realm's chaos, Fang Xi leaves his Divine Path Incarnation in Tianyuan City to administer affairs and deter troublemakers. The Heaven-Connecting Spirit Tablet attracts cultivators and even entire sects seeking missions and resources 929.
His administration also prevents major forces from monopolizing access to the tablet. Under his protection, humanity enters a golden era of development, although ascended factions backed by Dao Lords remain a potential source of intervention 929 1036.
Refinement and Later Development
After achieving immortality, Fang Xi returns to Three Realms Mountain to cultivate the Earth Immortal Undying Method. His attempt to refine the world's origin provokes heavenly punishment and resistance from Heaven and Earth 944 945 955.
By the time he considers nurturing the realm into a Great Thousand World, its origin has been refined. This gives him access to its ancient memories, while the completed Undying Method makes him exceptionally difficult to kill: even a Dao Lord cannot completely destroy the Middle Thousand World supporting him 1005 1021 1036.
The realm remains a refuge for Fang Xi's True Body. Much later, Shui Lingxin, Yun Xi, Little Green, and Little Mysterious Tortoise have all reached Great Ascension, while additional Primordial Spirit Pills on the exchange list offer them opportunities to ascend to immortality 1066 1093.
