While Professor Trelawney's prophecy was causing a huge stir throughout Hogwarts Castle, rumors quietly spread among the students that Albert intended to reorganize the "Defence Association." They said Albert planned to help everyone catch up on what they had missed in Defense Against the Dark Arts and had even personally compiled a Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook called Self-Defense Guide.
For the vast majority of Hogwarts students, this was undoubtedly good news.
Although some people scoffed at the Self-Defense Guide Albert had written, claiming he was far too arrogant and conceited, those noisy objections were swiftly drowned out and met with scorn and isolation from everyone else.
Only brainless idiots and fools consumed by jealousy would say such things.
As the champion of the Barnabus Finkley Prize for Exceptional Spell-Casting, the Triwizard Tournament champion, the Wizard Duelling champion, and the wizard who had defeated an unbearably arrogant Dark wizard, Albert's ability was beyond question.
If even Albert was not qualified, then who was?
Wouldn't all the other authors of Defense Against the Dark Arts books become laughingstocks? None of them possessed titles and accolades as dazzling as Albert's.
Umbridge's response to the rumors was somewhat slow. By the time she received the news and tried to take action, the rumors had already changed.
Albert himself had publicly declared that he was too busy this term to tutor everyone.
The original rumors therefore collapsed on their own.
Of course, only a handful of people knew the truth. Katrina was one of the Informed Persons. She knew Albert was indeed busy, but having no time to tutor everyone was merely an excuse. After all, Albert had tutored her several times that month, with excellent results. Katrina felt that her Defence Against the Dark Arts skills had improved by leaps and bounds.
