Isobel, wearing a loose nightgown, entered the study carrying two steaming cups of milk. She placed one on Albert's desk, brushed aside her hair, bent down to kiss his cheek, then sat in the chair by the window. Pulling back the thin beige curtains, she looked out at Katrina jogging in the yard.

"Why didn't you sleep a little longer?"

After tidying the notes on his desk and putting them into a drawer, Albert turned to look at Isobel, who was sitting there drinking milk.
