"Oh, God, things outside are getting more chaotic by the day!"
In one corner of the noisy Gryffindor Common Room, Hermione sat in an armchair reading the latest newspaper while waiting for Harry and Ron to return from the dormitory.
Every article in the paper pointed to one thing: Lord Voldemort was slaughtering Muggles without restraint. Even though the Ministry of Magic wanted to stop it, it was still being held back by the mess the Dark wizards had created.
For the entire Ministry of Magic, concealing the existence of the wizarding world was the top priority. As for stopping the Death Eaters from massacring Muggles, that depended on whether they could spare any extra effort.
Worse still, the last Wizarding War had lasted eleven full years before it ended. How long would this Wizarding War last?
How many innocent people would die in this war?
"Hermione, we should go," Harry reminded her.
"Oh, coming."
Hermione folded up the newspaper, rose from her chair, and walked over to Harry and Ron.
"What were you reading?" Ron asked curiously.
"The latest paper."
"I haven't read it yet. Any news?" Ron asked again.
"Lord Voldemort has dragged a lot of Muggles into this war. They're being slaughtered by Death Eaters, and things in the wizarding world are getting worse too," Hermione said in a lowered voice. "Apparently, some wizards who don't want to be caught up in this Wizarding War have fled overseas and emigrated to other countries where it is spoken."
"I'm considering sending my family away. If the Death Eaters target them because of me... I mean, they're ordinary people. They shouldn't be dragged into this Wizarding War." Hermione stopped walking and looked at Harry, who was standing there in confusion. "What's wrong, Harry?"
