If the Death Eaters truly threw caution to the wind and led all the Dark wizards in a full-scale assault on Hogwarts, Albert would not have had any particularly good solutions. He could only have everyone follow the preparations they had made in advance and descend into a chaotic battle with the invading Dark wizards. Then, they would not have been able to handle that group of Dark wizards as calmly as they did now. After all, they had never held any advantage in numbers from the start.
When the Dark wizards launched an orderly attack, it actually worked in their favor, because expecting Dark wizards to act in an orderly manner was practically a dream.
In such circumstances, they could respond to every move in kind and further weaken the threat posed by the Dark wizards.
Many things left traces to follow, especially since Albert had given everyone a pre-battle pep talk. Once everyone knew how to deal with the enemy, they could face the enemies attacking head-on with greater composure.

It sounded rather ridiculous, but there was no denying that the returns had been quite substantial.
Even Voldemort probably did not want to believe that both his right-hand men were spies planted by the enemy.
How much of a failure would that make him?
Naturally, Voldemort approved of the attack plan Yaxley had provided.
No one wanted their forces to be a complete mess, charging forward all at once like a ragtag army.
