Defence Against the Dark Arts Training
Professor Smith might be plotting something! However, Albert couldn't guess, but he felt that it was related to him.
It wasn't that he suffered from severe paranoia, but rather that his Rune Stone Divination hadn't come true yet. Although reluctant to admit it, Albert felt his Rune Stone Divination might be correct. After all, he had the boost from his Skill Panel.
If Albert didn't have Skill Panel, he certainly wouldn't believe in such superstitious Divination. At least, he wouldn't believe the results of his own Divination. But now that he has Skill Panel, the accuracy of his Divination is debatable.
By the way, it seems Isobel also had a similar Divination result; I wonder if it came true? Albert didn't ask, figuring that even if he did, she'd probably just give him a strange look. Isobel didn't believe Sybill Trelawney's Divination. After all, the Divination class professor at Hogwarts certainly didn't seem very reliable.
Moreover, the more talented a person is, the more confident they are in their own judgment.
"What are you doing?"
"Divination!" Albert flipped through the Rune Stone Divination book in his hand, comparing his Divination results with the contents of the book.
"Will this thing be accurate?" Lee Jordan clearly didn't believe in Divination. "I've heard that the Divination class professor at Hogwarts is a big fraud."
"I've heard similar rumors too." Albert closed the book and sighed softly; the Divination results were quite different from his guesses.
It's very blurry, only vaguely hinting at something.
Indeed, using a crystal ball for prediction is still more reliable.
"Next year, we're planning to take Divination. I heard it's a relatively easy course, so even if we fail the exam, it won't matter," Fred suddenly interjected. "Then there's Care of Magical Creatures. Charlie says it's a very interesting class."
"Divination requires talent!" Albert shook his head and said, "Without talent, no matter how hard you try, it's useless. As for the Care of Magical Creatures, Kettleburn is quite old and will probably retire in a few years. Hopefully, he can keep going until we finish the Care of Magical Creatures."
"I feel like even if Kettleburn doesn't want to retire, he'll be forced to retire because of what you just said," George couldn't help but complain.
Albert rolled his eyes, put away his Rune Stone Divination tools, and began to focus on his homework.
Professor Smith's situation was indeed troubling Albert, and he felt he should do something before Smith left Hogwarts.
Facing potential events unprepared is definitely not Albert's style. Being prepared means that even if something is not useful, he won't panic too much.
"I'm going to practice my Defence Against the Dark Arts," Albert said quietly, in a voice only those around him could hear. "I'll practice in that room. Do you want to come along?"
The three looked at each other, puzzled as to why Albert would suddenly drag them along to practice magic.
"I'm going into the Forbidden Forest to search for Gryffindor's treasure. Before I go there, I need to make all the necessary preparations," Albert explained to the three of them after entering the Room of Requirement.
Of course, this was just an excuse Albert made up on the spot.
His ability to Defence Against the Dark Arts was actually quite average, and he had little experience in using Charms in combat, so he planned to bring his three roommates over to spar with him.
"I thought you..."
"The Forbidden Forest is dangerous. I'm against going straight to our deaths," Albert said, scoffing. "If we're going in, we should be fully prepared. Even if our so-called preparations are useless, we still have to do them. If we just charge in without any luck, we're guaranteed to die."
Albert felt he didn't have Potter's lucky protagonist aura, so he decided to make more preparations. Even if they weren't useful, it wouldn't matter; improving his combat power was never a bad thing.
"When do we start?" Fred and George both looked eager to try, and Lee Jordan seemed equally excited. The most interesting part of Defence Against the Dark Arts was the hands-on experience. However, what they learned in class might not be as much as what they learned from Albert. All three knew that Albert was very powerful and were prepared to learn some useful spellcasting techniques from him.
"Don't rush, you need to start practicing from the most basic spells," Albert said softly. "And you must learn the Spider Repelling Spell."
Using practice to enhance his combat experience is the most reliable solution Albert can think of at the moment, and it can also make up for his lack of experience in this area.
"But we already know the spell," Fred and George said in unison.
"Mastering them doesn't mean you can use them. Wizard battles are not just about throwing spells at each other." Albert shook his head and said, "In the Forbidden Forest, encountering Acromantula head-on is not scary; what's scary is being ambushed by them."
"Begin, take turns using Obstruction Jinx on me."
"To you?"
"I'll try to block it with the Shield Charm. Alright, let's begin." Albert called out, "George, you go first, Fred second, Lee Jordan third."
"Okay, here it comes." George grinned; they had already mastered the Obstruction Jinx last year.
"Obstruction Jinx."
As the Charms Accio towards him, Albert felt a chill run down his spine. It was a bad feeling, like someone was shooting at him.
"Shield Charm."
Albert whispered the incantation and waved his wand, attempting to deflect the spell. The Obstruction Jinx that Accio towards him struck the Shield Charm, then spread outwards and disappeared.
"The spell's power is too weak, and keep your voice down when casting it. Don't tell anyone what spell you're using," Albert said casually. "Fred..."
Albert had the three of them take turns casting spells on him to practice using the Shield Charm to counter the spells, while Fred, George, and Lee Jordan's task was to make their Obstruction Jinx hit Albert as much as possible.
Of course, Albert couldn't defend against all of them. Under continuous attacks from the three, he couldn't avoid being distracted and getting hit by the spells several times.
However, the three of them were not very Magical Power, and the effect of the Obstruction Jinx was limited, at most causing him to fall to the ground.
"Now, how do you feel?" Albert asked, panting.
"Obstruction Jinx are too common," Fred interjected. "We want to learn more powerful spells."
"It's because you don't know how to use it, and the Obstruction Jinx you used aren't powerful enough to effectively intercept your opponents. At the very least, they should be strong enough to knock people away." Albert said, raising his wand and casually waving it. Lee Jordan was sent flying by a powerful force, landing far away and crashing into a pile of cushions.
"Wow!"
Fred and George stared wide-eyed at Lee Jordan as he flew away.
"Are you alright?" Albert reached out and helped Lee Jordan up.
"Oh no, are we really using the same Charms?" Lee Jordan was a little annoyed. No wonder Albert made them practice the Obstruction Jinx; the difference in their feelings was evident!
"Take a break first. For the rest of the time, you can take turns using Obstruction Jinx on me." Albert sat on the mat, ate a Hard Candy, and handed one to his roommate next to him before continuing.
"Most wizards are physically weak, so we don't need to practice stronger Charms, faster, quicker, or continuous attacks. We just need to focus our spells on the opponent and make them unable to breathe. Even a Levitation Charm can have unimaginable effects."
"What you said makes a lot of sense," Fred muttered. "But what if the other party uses a very strong Protective Magic to protect themselves? I remember you seem to know that kind of powerful protective spell too."
He really wanted to learn that.
"Don't be silly. If you do that when fighting a wizard, you'll only make yourself a target. If you're dealing with a powerful Dark wizard, you'll definitely be in big trouble."
"We want to learn more powerful magic," Lee Jordan muttered.
"You can't learn it yet," Albert delivered a fatal blow without any mercy. "It's best to take it one step at a time. First, master the more practical spells like the Obstruction Jinx, Disarming Charm, Stunning Spell, Full Body-Bind Curse, Shield Charm, and Shattering Charm, and then learn the Spider Repelling Spell. If you can master these spells quickly, I can teach you other magic. There are quite a few spells in the book I bought last time, 'Practical Defensive Magic and Its Use Against the Dark Arts. ' We can study them together then."
"That's wonderful." George's eyes lit up. They had all read "Practical Defensive Magic and Its Use Against the Dark Arts" and tried some of the spells in it, but practicing alone without instruction was sometimes quite difficult. Moreover, Albert later hid the book, and they never had the chance to look at it again.
