Choosing New Courses
With the Easter holidays fast approaching, the Hogwarts students are getting restless again, wishing the school would close immediately so they can have some fun.
However, the Hogwarts professors didn't seem to intend to let the students have a peaceful Easter; they assigned more and more homework, piling up on the desks.
If you try to finish all your homework during the Easter holiday, you probably won't be able to enjoy the holiday at all.
Fred and George also became irritable. In addition to their homework, they had to find time every day to fight against Albert in magic, plus Quidditch training three times a week.
Speaking of Quidditch, it's frustrating for the Twins brothers. Gryffindor Team's next Quidditch Match is against Hufflepuff Team.
Despite having already lost two games, Charlie insisted that the team train hard to ensure better results next semester. Therefore, Fred and George had almost no time for anything other than Quidditch practice, magical matches, and homework.
"I feel like I've lost so much weight!"
In Transfiguration Class, Fred was trying to turn a little white rabbit into a slipper. As he poked the poor little guy with his wand, he complained to Albert beside him that he was almost overwhelmed with work lately.
If they can't turn the little white rabbit in front of them into slippers, it means they'll need to find time to practice Transfiguration Easter, which is not good news, as they already have enough to do.
What angered and frustrated Fred the most was that Albert had successfully turned the little rabbit into slippers after only one attempt, and after several attempts, his slippers became more and more exquisite.
Albert is far ahead of them in Transfiguration, even Ravenclaw's Katrina has been left far behind.
Everyone was already overwhelmed with studying magic and dealing with heavy homework. Albert, however, always managed to find time for other things, making the three of them wonder if Albert really only had twenty-four hours in a day. You really can't compare people; once you do, the gap seems huge, and it makes you feel extremely bad.
"Weasley, stop messing with that poor little rabbit, or you'll be put in detention." Professor McGonagall's stern voice interrupted Fred's complaints, and many students in the class turned to look at him.
"Sorry," Fred muttered, as he caught the little rabbit that was trying to escape and patted its head like Albert had done, trying to calm it down.
"This is much harder than turning a beetle into a button." George looked distressed. His little white rabbit was still a little white rabbit, but Shanna's little white rabbit had changed a bit. However, the rabbit ears on the slippers were still obvious and could move. Obviously, it hadn't worked, but the change was a good sign.
"Do you have some secret to success?" Fred couldn't help but ask.
"There are no shortcuts to learning Transfiguration, Weasley. Transfiguration is a delicate art; you need very rigorous training to succeed. You still have a long way to go in this regard," Professor McGonagall said calmly. This wasn't the first time she had heard someone ask such a question.
"I've never seen Albert spend much time on this!" Fred couldn't help but mutter, feeling that Albert had been spending far less time on Transfiguration than on magical combat lately.
However, Fred immediately shut up when he noticed Professor McGonagall's gaze had shifted back to him.
"Easter is coming soon, and I hope everyone won't just focus on having fun and forget about their homework. I hope we can avoid a repeat of what happened during the last Christmas Holiday. I suggest you all finish your homework before you go out to play." Professor McGonagall walked back to the podium, took out a pile of papers from the attendance list, and distributed them.
Everyone took the list, looked at its contents, and began to whisper among themselves.
"This is the list of new courses. You will need to choose new courses in your third year. You will have plenty of time to think about this during the Easter." Professor McGonagall's expression was serious. "Each of you needs to choose at least two courses. If you don't understand something, you can ask me or consult your elders. You need to take this seriously, as it will affect your future."
"Professor, could you introduce these five new courses to us?" someone asked.
"Divination relies more on talent. Very few people in the Wizarding World can truly foresee the future; most are just charlatans using Divination as a front," Professor McGonagall said.
Many students couldn't help but smile. They had heard about Professor Trelawney Sybill Trelawney's story, and many thought she was a fraud who couldn't predict the future at all.
"If you want to work in fields closely related to Muggle in the future, it would be best to choose Muggle Studies. Of course, I know some wizards who grew up around Muggle and should be better at this," Professor McGonagall continued. "Many wizards don't know how to get along with Muggle."
"Unless Professor Burbage Kerridi Boubagi, who Muggle Studies, is a wizard who grew up around Muggle," Albert said in a low voice, "I don't think that professor knows much either."
The fact that Arthur Weasley asked the rubber duck what it did shows that wizards have a very limited understanding of Muggle.
"If you enjoy outdoor activities and like interacting with Magical Creatures, you can choose the Care of Magical Creatures."
"Charlie chose the Conservation of Magical Care of Magical Creatures Care of Magical Creatures because he said there aren't many students in the Advanced Class," George said in a low voice.
"Arithmancy and Ancient Runes are suitable for wizards who like to study magic. If you want to become Curse-Breaker, you also need to be proficient in these two disciplines."
"The former requires a keen sense of numbers and can use numerology and grammar to predict the future. Wizards and witches who study and practice arithmetic are called arithmeticians."
"The latter is related to archaeology and alchemy, and it requires a talent for languages. There are very few wizards who are truly proficient in Ancient Runes." Professor McGonagall's gaze lingered on Albert for a moment before she continued, "Of course, if any of you plan to choose all the subjects, you can come to me privately. But I don't recommend that you choose all of them, because the pressure of studying might overwhelm you. Unless you are a particularly good student, I generally do not recommend that you choose all of them."
"Isobel will select all," Katrina muttered to herself, considering whether she should select all.
"It depends on what you plan to do in the future," Professor McGonagall advised. "Go back and think carefully before making a decision."
Fred, George, and Lee Jordan weren't worried at all about how difficult the courses they chose would be. Even if they were really hard, Albert was willing to help them. Besides, they only chose the easier Divination and protecting Magical Creatures, and they had no intention of developing in that direction in the future.
