Putting Him on the Spot
"I thought Defense Against the Dark Arts was going to be a mess," Fred muttered, echoing the sentiments of many students in the classroom.
Professor Quirrell's teaching skills were far inferior to the previous two Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, but he was still able to teach everyone some useful knowledge, albeit barely.
The Hogwarts third-year curriculum was still based on "Defense Against the Dark Arts: 《Self-Defense Guide》," Defence Against the Dark Arts Textbook that would, unsurprisingly, be used until the fifth year, and the main content of the O. W. L. exams also came from this book.
Of course, some professors will selectively add new teaching materials according to their own needs, such as the high-level fraudster Lockhart.
On the podium, Professor Quirrell was telling his students about the description of the Reanimated Corpse and a series of coping strategies after encountering them. He had told them that his scarf was a gift from an Africa prince to thank him for helping him get rid of the Reanimated Corpse.
However, no one really believed Professor Quirrell's story.
After everyone quickly jotted down some relevant information, they all looked in Albert's direction, seemingly waiting for something to happen.
"Do you have any...questions, Mr. Anderson?" Quirrell stammered, looking at Albert who had raised his hand to ask a question.
"Professor, I'd like to know what the difference is between zombies and the legendary Inferi," Albert asked. "How would we distinguish between them?"
He paused, seemingly to give Quirrell a moment to catch his breath and hear what he was saying, before continuing, "What should you do if you encounter Inferi?"
"Different...difference?" Quirrell didn't really like Albert's questions, but the genius always managed to ask some reasonable ones. He was now a little dizzy from the barrage of questions.
Everyone felt a little sorry for Professor Quirrell, but they all preferred to see Albert "make things difficult" for Professor Quirrell.
Because they can learn a lot of useful knowledge from Albert's questions and Professor Quirrell's answers, perhaps even more than what Professor Quirrell teaches in class.
"Inferi is a 'cursed, resurrected corpse' that has been transformed into a 'terrible puppet' servant that can be manipulated by Dark wizard," Professor Quirrell stammered, answering Albert's question with a sense of helplessness.
This student, hailed as the most talented student at Hogwarts, would ask questions in every class, becoming a unique feature of the Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Professor Quirrell regretted answering the question, but it was too late. If he hadn't answered, everyone would have stared at him with such expectant eyes, a level of focus they had never shown in class.
"... The Dark Magic created by the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named be mentioned."
Everyone could feel Professor Quirrell's body trembling uncontrollably, and his voice trembled as he spoke of the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
"Back then, that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named killed a lot of Muggle and used their corpses to create a huge number of Inferi," Quirrell said dryly. "To be honest, this isn't a pleasant topic."
"As for the difference, Inferi is a dead body, a puppet, that can only carry out the orders of Dark wizard, while Reanimated Corpse carries some of its former consciousness and is essentially more similar to a ghost. Of course, in Britain, you basically don't have to worry about encountering Reanimated Corpse."
"Sir, what should we do if we encounter Inferi?" Albert asked patiently after Quirrell finished speaking.
"The Inferi haven't appeared for a long time," Quirrell said uneasily. "They've disappeared since that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, lost Inferi last time."
"However, this does not mean that the Inferi have completely disappeared," Albert continued. "As long as there are still people who possess the magic to create Inferi, they may still encounter them. I have checked the relevant information, and there are very few records: Inferi, as "warriors or guards who do not care about their own safety," have "many uses."
"Yes...yes, the Inferi, as 'warriors or guards who do not care about their own safety,' have many uses," Quirrell stammered, repeating. "It can be very dangerous to encounter Inferi of Infernals."
"However, the Inferi are afraid of fire and light," Quirrell said. "Fire can burn them to death, and light can make them retreat into the shadows, making them chaotic and uncontrollable."
"Sir, is it possible to use a spell to blow their heads off, thereby stopping or eliminating the Inferi? I mean, to get rid of them." In Albert's eyes, the Inferi were puppets, somewhat similar to the zombies in Resident Evil. So, could the methods for eliminating zombies also kill the Inferi? When Albert said this, many students unconsciously touched their heads.
"Well... I've never encountered Inferi before, so I'm not sure... if what you said will work," Quirrell stammered. "If you ever do encounter one, I suggest Mr. Anderson not to try anything recklessly. Inferi are 'warriors or guards who don't care about their own safety,' so we should use the correct and safest methods to deal with them. Otherwise, once you get entangled with Inferi, it will be a disaster."
Albert nodded, indicating that he understood.
There are actually quite a few wizards who can wield wands and control Incendio, but not everyone can probably fire flames to drive away the Inferi.
Albert even doubted whether the light from a regular Lumos Charm would be enough to frighten the Inferi.
Encountering a single Inferi is not dangerous if handled properly, but if you encounter a group of them, you may have to run away.
At that time, it seemed like Harry Potter couldn't handle it.
In Albert's limited memory, there was a large group of Inferi at the place where Harry and Dumbledore went to find the Slytherin's Locket. In the end, Dumbledore had to start a fire to drive away all the Inferi.
Sure enough, if I ever encounter a bunch of Inferi in the future, I should throw a ball of light and run away as quickly as possible. After all, things that aren't afraid of death are really hard to deal with.
"By the way, why do you always like to find something to ask Professor Quirrell?"
When class ended, Fred finally couldn't help but ask.
"I don't think Professor Quirrell performed to his full potential," Albert said seriously. "He is also a very good professor."
"Thank you for your compliment, Mr. Anderson." Quirrell forced a smile as he passed by.
"Sycophant."
Katrina watched Professor Quirrell's departing figure and muttered to herself.
"Don't forget, Professor Quirrell answered all the questions I asked," Albert reminded him. "What we see on the surface isn't necessarily the truth."
This judgment comes from Quirrell's exploits. Since he managed to escape the Gringotts Goblin ' pursuit and make them mistake him for a Dark wizard, he must have some skill. Otherwise, he would have been killed by the Goblin long ago.
Moreover, and most importantly, there's Fiendfyre, also known as Fiendfyre. That stuff is incredibly difficult to control. If Quirrell could control Fiendfyre to burn through the vault door, how could he be weak? In a sense, any wizard who dares to wield Fiendfyre and survives being burned alive is quite formidable.
The other party must have a high level of expertise in Dark Magic, at least much better than Albert.
Of course, there is actually another reason.
Albert discovers a new mission in Quirrell: to be a good student.
Your Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor seems to be hiding a big secret. You discover that he is not as incompetent as he appears. You try to probe and uncover his hidden strength by asking him a hundred questions.
5/100 Reward: 10,000 experience points, 1 Skill Points, and gain a specific skill from the target.
Yes, that's right. That's the main reason why Albert tried so hard to ask questions: he needed to finish asking his questions reasonably before Quirrell was defeated by Harry.
