Hagrid Wants to Be a Mother
After being reminded by Albert, Fred, George, and Lee Jordan abandoned their idea of revealing what happened in the dungeon.
However, this interesting adventure still excited them.
The four had planned to sneak off to Hogsmeade on Easter Sunday for some fun, but right after breakfast, Wood cruelly announced that they would be having Quidditch practice later.
"Doesn't Wood need to study?" Lee Jordan asked, looking at Fred and George being dragged away by Wood with sympathy and confusion.
Fifth-grade students are working hard to review their lessons and prepare for the upcoming exams.
"Wood plans to join Quidditch team after graduation; honing his skills is more important than exam results," Albert replied absentmindedly.
He was surprised that he hadn't received a letter from Hagrid, since Hagrid should have already gotten the dragon egg!
Could something have gone wrong? "Should I go find Hagrid and come along?"
Albert casually asked Lee Jordan if he wanted to come with him to the Gamekeeper's Hut to have tea with Hagrid.
Unsurprisingly, Lee Jordan casually made up an excuse, saying he needed to go to the library with Shanna to do his homework. Albert, too lazy to expose him, went to find Hagrid on his own.
A few minutes later, Albert raised his hand and knocked on the wooden door of the Gamekeeper's Hut. He heard a Fang sound coming from inside, but no one seemed to be there. "Hagrid, are you in there?" Albert knocked again, but Hagrid did not open the door.
He walked around the cabin and found that the windows were tightly closed.
Left with no other option, Albert had to take out his wand and open the door himself.
Although it was impolite, Albert opened the door and went in himself to make sure Hagrid had gotten the dragon egg.
As soon as the wooden door opened, Fang pounced on Albert, standing tall and trying to lick his face. After Albert stopped her, Ya Ya circled around him.
Hagrid is still sleeping; he must have been drunk last night.
No wonder I didn't write to myself.
The room was filled with a strong, sour smell. Albert covered his mouth and nose, raised his wand and waved it gently, opening all the windows in the room and sweeping away the strange smell.
As Albert walked toward the bed, he noticed that Hagrid was carrying a basket with an egg inside.
"It seems Hagrid has successfully obtained that dragon egg!"
Albert breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the egg and called out to Hagrid, who was still fast asleep on the bed, "Hagrid, if you don't get up soon, the dragon egg will be stolen!"
The next moment, Hagrid suddenly woke up from his sleep, hurriedly checked his basket, and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the dragon egg was still there. He then glared angrily at the guy who had just scared him.
"Awake?" Albert greeted Hagrid with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" Hagrid covered a yawn with his hand and looked at Albert with annoyance. He had really startled him.
"Of course, I'm here to see if my Prophecy is accurate." Albert reached out and scratched Fang's ear, his gaze falling on the dragon eggs in the basket. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he muttered to himself, "It seems my Prophecy is quite accurate."
"Yes, it was really accurate. I won this dragon egg from a peddler while playing cards," Hagrid excitedly told Albert about what had happened the night before.
"Congratulations on finally getting your wish," Albert asked. "What are your plans now? To hatch the dragon?"
"Yes, I want to hatch it." Hagrid gently stroked the dragon egg in his hand as if it were a precious treasure. "I've even thought of a name for it. I'm going to call it Norbert."
"Hmm, not a bad name." Albert scratched his Fang, looked up at Hagrid, and kindly reminded him, "You need to hatch it first. Before that, you need to figure out what kind of dragon egg it is. Then you need to figure out what kind of food to feed this kind of dragon when it is young, to make sure that the baby dragon will not die because of your improper care when it is born. Newborn children are usually very fragile, even a dragon is no exception."
"Albert, help me." Hagrid paused in stroking the dragon egg and asked Albert for help, realizing that taking care of a dragon was not easy.
At the very least, Hagrid had no experience raising dragons.
"You need to go to the library to find a way to raise dragons." Albert glanced at the new quest that appeared on the Task Panel: The Birth of Norbert Your good friend Hagrid got a dragon egg, but he has no experience in hatching and caring for a fire dragon. Now he is asking you for help. As a friend, you may be able to help him hatch the dragon egg.
Reward: 1000 experience points, Hagrid's favorability +10.
Although the experience reward from the mission wasn't much, Albert was still quite satisfied.
At least, it's much better than the recent whistleblower mission, and it's easier to complete.
After Hagrid finished speaking, Albert took out a piece of parchment that he had prepared beforehand from his pocket and handed it to Hagrid. Inside was a book about raising dragons that Albert had found in the library.
"Here, take this. Go to the library and borrow the book yourself. You're an expert in raising these dangerous Magical Creature, so there's very little help I can offer."
Hagrid was also taken aback. He took the parchment and looked at it. It had four books written on it, "The European Dragon Breeds", "From Egg to Nirvana", "The Dragon Breeding Guide", and "Breeding Dragons for Fun and Profit".
"Of course, these books may be a bit outdated, but the content should still be useful."
"Thank you, I knew you were the most reliable." Hagrid tried to give Albert a hug, but the other man deftly dodged him.
Albert didn't want Hagrid reeked of sourness, to give him a hug.
"However, I need to warn you beforehand, Hagrid." Albert sat back in his chair, staring into Hagrid's eyes, and said, "Don't blame me for being a little harsh."
"What's up?"
"No matter what kind of dragon you raise, it can grow two or three times its original size in just one week. Within a month, you'll almost be unable to hide it from others anymore." Albert noticed Hagrid's evasive gaze, sighed, and said, "I told you this a long time ago, and I know you don't want to hear it, but I still need to tell you. Your time taking care of Norbert is destined to be short, and after that, you'll need to ask the headmaster for help to send the dragon away."
Hagrid opened his mouth; he knew Albert was right, but he was unwilling to accept the fact.
"As for how long you take care of Norbert, it depends entirely on how well you keep it a secret. The more people know about this, the harder it will be to hide the fact that you're raising dragons." Albert reminded him again, "The best way is for you to hatch the dragon eggs quietly and then send the dragon away when it's grown. That way you won't cause trouble for the headmaster. You should be prepared."
After hearing Albert's words, Hagrid, like a child, was so sad that he shed tears.
Albert looked at the heartbroken Hagrid and shook his head, feeling like he had become the bad guy.
Just then, an owl flew in through the window, landed on the table in front of Albert, and handed him a letter.
"Your letter?" Hagrid also noticed the owl.
"Yes, my letter."
Albert discovers that the letter was written by Mr. Brood, urging him to attend the party that evening and stating that he has already contacted Professor McGonagall and can use her fireplace to get to his destination.
