A Fierce Round of Analysis
The next day, in the Great Hall, students were discussing the attack on Mrs. Norris, with some even suspecting that Harry Potter was the mysterious Heir of Slytherin.
However, most Slytherin students scoffed at this idea, and they did not believe that the Heir of Slytherin would be someone like Harry Potter.
Even Albert's analysis in the Gryffindor Common Room last night has started to circulate in the school. Some people believe it, but more people do not, thinking that he is talking nonsense.
However, the few copies of "Hogwarts: Hogwarts, A History" in the school library were all borrowed in the blink of an eye, and the waiting list for those who wanted to borrow it was already two weeks in advance.
It turns out that the legend of the Chamber of Secrets does indeed circulate in Hogwarts Castle, and the monster that attacked Mrs. Norris was very likely the monster from the Slytherin Chamber of Secrets. The monster's target was probably the Muggle-born wizard in the school, namely Salazar Slytherin's noble cause.
In short, rumors were flying around the school, and the Muggle-born wizard who knew Albert began to be suspicious.
There was nothing they could do; they had all heard that Albert could Prophecy, and that whatever he said, whether good or bad, was remarkably accurate.
Anyway, everyone started to consciously follow their companions, afraid that if they were left alone, they would become the target of monster attacks.
Harry, Hermione, and Ron were very uneasy about this. They had been there last night, and Harry had even heard some sounds that no one else could hear. So, Hermione went over to Albert as soon as she saw him this morning to discuss the matter. In her opinion, Albert was more reliable than Harry and Ron and Erudition, so he might know something.
"Dumbledore said that Mrs. Norris is not dead, but petrified," Hermione briefly explained what happened after she was taken to Lockhart's office last night.
"Petrification?" Albert asked. "Dumbledore can't directly remove Mrs. Norris's petrification?"
"No, Dumbledore said we need to wait for the Mandrakes roots to mature so that we can make a potion to remove the petrification."
"Strong restorative potion." Albert couldn't help but curl his lip. Dumbledore could easily buy such a Strong restorative potion from outside. With the headmaster's connections, it was impossible for him not to be able to buy it. Even Albert had prepared a few bottles of Strong restorative potion for himself.
Albert doesn't believe Dumbledore didn't think of this, or that he wanted to save money. The fact that he was awakened from petrification later without the use of Strong restorative potion is quite suspicious.
After all, if the petrified students could be awakened by using Strong restorative potion, some information could be obtained, and Albert couldn't think of a suitable reason not to do so.
However, Dumbledore never did that, choosing instead to wait for Mandrakes roots to mature, which must have been intentional.
Perhaps Dumbledore wanted to use this opportunity to force out the Slytherin Heir hiding behind the scenes, and to find the exact location of the legendary Slytherin Chamber of Secrets, so as to completely eliminate this threat.
Otherwise, Albert didn't think waiting for the Mandrakes to mature was a good idea, since it would take at least six months for it to mature.
It's one thing if it's just a cat, but it's a bit much to expect that the student with the camera would act like that. If they could wake the person up, it wouldn't be hard to get them to tell them that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets is Basilisk.
"What's wrong?" Hermione noticed Albert's distraction and asked, "Did you discover something?"
Several students gathered around to listen to Albert's analysis. Although it sounded a bit like Albert was bragging, it didn't stop their gossipy nature.
"It seems to be a very advanced form of Dark Magic, which is why Mrs. Norris was petrified," Albert said somewhat absentmindedly.
"Do you believe that it was the heir to the Chamber of Secrets who petrified Mrs. Norris?"
"I don't think he's the heir," Albert said, offering his analysis. "Ordinary students simply can't do that. Using advanced Dark Magic requires powerful Magical Power to support it; otherwise, the spell won't work and might even fail."
"Dumbledore said something similar," Ron said, appearing out of nowhere. "The headmaster believed that ordinary students simply couldn't do that."
"So, if we rule out the heir's involvement, then it could only have been done by the monster in the Chamber of Secrets. As far as I know, Medusa from Greece mythology could do that. Hmm, the Banshee."
"As everyone knows, there is no such creature as Medusa in the Wizarding World," a student who disliked Albert couldn't help but sneer.
Albert ignored him and continued, "In my knowledge, no Magical Creature or Dark Creatures could petrify a cat. But I'm more inclined to believe it was some kind of monster that did it, a monster with close ties to Slytherin."
"Why wasn't it done by the Heir of Slytherin?"
Angelina, who had just come over, couldn't help but interject. She wasn't Muggle-born wizard, so she wasn't too worried about being attacked, but she was also eager to hear Albert's analysis.
"I'm afraid the students don't have that ability." Albert glanced at the uneasy Ginny Weasley and continued, "Professor Snape might be able to do it, after all, he is the wizard in the school who has the deepest research on Dark Magic, but it is obviously unlikely."
"Why."
"Fool, Snape was attending a dinner party in the Great Hall at the time."
"Therefore, it is suspicious that you did not go to the Great Hall for the Halloween Feast."
As he spoke, Albert turned his gaze to Hermione, but it was clearly not you two, because there should only be one heir, and the three of you were together at the time.
"If the Chamber of Secrets really exists, why has no one discovered it for a thousand years?" This time, the question was asked by Kenneth Toller, who had come to discuss with Albert whether to cooperate in selling a batch of amulets.
"The Heir of Slytherin must have discovered it. There must have been more than one Slytherin Heir over the past thousand years; they just helped hide the entrance," Albert reminded him. "Otherwise, the Chamber of Secrets couldn't have gone undiscovered, considering the school has undergone several renovations over the past thousand years."
"I feel that all the other professors combined are not as reliable as Albert."
"They just don't want to cause panic, they're probably already investigating in secret." Albert shook his head and said, "After all, the castle isn't that big, but it's not small either. It's probably not easy to find the hidden Chamber of Secrets, otherwise how could there be any so-called Chamber of Secrets legends?"
What did you find?
"I've got a vague idea, but I need more clues." Albert looked at Hermione and asked, "Is there any other secret?"
"It's about the thing I told you about last time." Hermione put it tactfully, without mentioning that Harry had heard that voice again. After all, in the Wizarding World, hearing voices that others can't hear is not a good omen.
"Okay, I understand." Albert stood up and walked towards the castle gate.
Where are you going?
"Go find Hagrid. Maybe he'll know what kind of monster could petrify Mrs. Norris. After all, he's quite knowledgeable about those things." Albert casually made up an excuse for himself. He had already figured out how to explain to Dumbledore that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets was the Basilisk.
