As they approached Hagrid's Hut, Fang came charging toward them, circling around the group. Albert crouched down, rubbed the dog's head, then scratched under his chin, finally calming Fang down.

Hagrid had already pushed open the wooden door and invited them inside.

There was only one room in the hut. Hams and roast pheasants hung from the ceiling, and a copper kettle sat on the fireplace, where the fire had long since gone out. A large bed stood in the corner, covered with a patchwork quilt.

Hagrid picked up a pink umbrella from the corner and used it to light the fire. Then he hung the water-filled copper kettle over it to boil, apparently intending to make tea for them.

As he worked, he did not forget to turn back and tell the three of them, "Next time—if I see you sneaking into the forest again, I'll hand you over to Professor McGonagall. She'll make sure you never dare go in there again."

"We were just curious... about what's actually in the forest," George muttered. "Why did Dumbledore forbid students from going in?"

"There are wild beasts in the forest, and magical creatures that are very dangerous for you." Hagrid explained impatiently, "Dumbledore didn't forbid you from entering for no reason. It's simply far too dangerous for you right now."

"Hagrid, be careful not to let the Bowtruckles fall into the fireplace. They seem rather afraid of fire," Albert said, changing the subject.

"Oh!" Hagrid pulled out a chair and sat down, setting the Bowtruckles on the table. He took out some herbs from a nearby cabinet, chewed them, then applied them to the Bowtruckles' wounds. He also used small wooden splints to set and bandage them, tying them in place with Unicorn Tail Hair.
