Chapter 872: The Missing Champion

Fred and George emerged from Professor McGonagall's office with grim expressions. It wasn't that they couldn't understand her decision, but her rigidity was truly infuriating.

No one wanted to see Albert come to harm less than they did, because only Albert was willing to help them fulfill their dream of opening a joke shop.

However, Fred and George also knew perfectly well that Albert would never want to miss the chance to compete in the Triwizard Tournament because of someone's schemes.

"What do we do now?" Fred asked.

"We can only hope Lee Jordan can get Angelina to vote for Albert," George said. He had no better ideas either.

"I'm afraid that won't work."

Professor Moody's voice suddenly came from behind them.

Fred and George turned around in confusion to look at Professor Moody, who had just emerged from Professor McGonagall's office.

"It's no use getting someone else to vote for him. Otherwise, I would've entered him myself long ago," Professor Moody said, leaning on his cane.

"What do you mean?" George asked with a frown.

"Dumbledore mentioned it last night. Putting your name into the Goblet of Fire is really the process of forming a Magical Contract with it. Having someone else vote for you would likely render that contract meaningless, because the wizard casting the vote wouldn't match the name on the contract. Dumbledore probably knows the exact details, and only he could easily fool the Goblet of Fire and make Albert the Hogwarts Champion." Professor Moody sounded irritated. "But Dumbledore clearly doesn't intend to do that. He's too noble to stoop to cheating. Also, are you sure Albert has really disappeared? Have you looked elsewhere?"

"We searched the whole castle, but we still couldn't find him," George said before Fred could answer.
