The Opportunist Salas and Bibi Dong Preparing to Make Trouble
Heaven Dou City, Spirit Hall, Salas's office.
"Report, Your Excellency Bishop. An urgent document has arrived from the Balak Kingdom, encrypted using the highest level of security."
After entering the room, an intelligence officer swiftly reported the situation and handed over the document. They were only authorized to send and receive such documents; they lacked the clearance to decipher them.
"Hm? A top-level encrypted document? All right, wait outside for my summons."
Salas frowned. It had been nearly six years since a document of this level had passed through his hands, and this one had come from such a remote place. He hoped the people below were not making a fuss over nothing. Otherwise, he would teach the sender what a Platinum Bishop was.
Opening the document, Salas glanced at the Angel Codex beside him and began deciphering its contents.
As he read, his initially casual expression gradually turned solemn. He had seen much in his life, yet he had truly never encountered what was described within.
"A special Martial Soul structure, a genius with Innate Full Soul Power not inferior to Twin Martial Souls... Hm, those people aren't idiots, but they are making rather too much of this."
Salas pondered as he continued reading, until his eyes landed on the final sentence.
"Hm? He has ties to Light Plume Crown?"
He quickly flipped back through the pages and finally found the information about Han Li's parents.
He clearly remembered this incident from several years ago. Light Plume Crown had happened to pass by while bored and taken the matter into his own hands, saying that since he was passing through, he would handle it. He had not expected it to line up with this today.
"Notting City Spirit Hall has done well and deserves a reward. This city lord is not bad either. Perhaps he can be moved to another position later."
His eyes flickered. He belonged to Pope's Hall, but that did not mean he had no desire to establish ties with Worship Hall. Just because Her Highness Qian Renxue did not think highly of him did not mean others would feel the same. This confidential report might be his opportunity.
After pondering for a long time, Salas summoned the intelligence officer waiting outside and spoke solemnly. "Make two copies. Send the intelligence to Spirit City, with one copy each to Pope's Hall and Worship Hall. Use the highest classification for both."
After the intelligence officer left, Salas had intended to summon others, but after pacing a few steps, he thought of how his cultivation had slowed more and more, how becoming a Titled Douluo was now beyond hope. He simply headed for the intelligence room himself.
He intended to receive the first-hand news. If Spirit City's response was favorable, it was not as though he could not make the trip personally. He believed he was quite good at looking after children as well.
News always traveled fast in a small city.
After Xiao Zhan sent him and Xiu'er home, promising to return at noon to celebrate his birthday, barely more than an hour had passed before neighbors from the surrounding area began arriving with gifts. After a round of praise and pleasantries, Han Li's smile had nearly frozen on his face before it finally ended.
After having Xiu'er notify the cook to prepare the meal, Han Li returned to his room. He took out his diary and reinforced the memories once more before tossing it into the brazier, watching it burn to ashes. He was no longer the insignificant nobody he had once been. He had to guard against every possible accident.
While Tao Ge was making his Martial Soul certificate, he had seen Xiao Wu's rank certificate. It came from a nearby village: Rabbit Martial Soul, with her Innate Soul Power registered at Rank 7. That way, with only a little concealment, her rapid cultivation could still be explained. After all, wasn't there a Blue Silver Grass with Innate Full Soul Power right beside her for comparison?
At last, this resolved the question that had weighed on his mind for so long: why two geniuses with Innate Full Soul Power could attend Notting Academy while Spirit Hall paid them no attention.
It was understandable enough for Blue Silver Grass to be disregarded. And Bibi Dong might have already guessed something. But it made no sense for a Rabbit Martial Soul with Innate Full Soul Power to be ignored.
Still, he had no intention of interfering just yet. Leaving aside the Soul Ring, he wanted that Soul Bone too. Invincibility and teleportation—Soul Bone skills like those, he believed that aside from the Angel Set, anyone else would be willing to trade their own Soul Bones for them.
Not only would interfering now be dangerous, he would gain nothing from it. Who knew whether Tang Hao was hiding nearby all along? That was also why he had not approached after seeing Tang San and Xiao Wu earlier.
Summoning his Martial Souls once more, Han Li manipulated them into changing shape. The excitement on his face was no longer concealed. The treatment given to the Plane Father was ultimately a little better than that of the Plane Child in his early days. He had not been given too many trials. If he had truly suffered as miserably as Huo Gua had in the beginning, he seriously doubted whether he could have held out until his rise to power.
He picked up the bow and symbolically took aim, then swiftly broke it down into twin blades and slashed forward, stirring gusts of wind. Han Li put it away with satisfaction.
An archer who could not fight in close quarters was not a good cook. Red A's template was now online. That was also why he had registered his Martial Soul as a bow on the certificate. Though it would not remain unknown forever, he could still catch as many people off guard as possible. Thinking of someone painstakingly breaking through his long-range attacks, only to be beaten senseless by his twin blades after getting close, the corners of his mouth could not help but rise.
"Unfortunately, I'll have to readjust the way I use the twin blades."
Han Li sighed. After learning about his parents' Martial Souls, he had persisted in practicing with a blade for two years. Though it had only been simple swings and chops, an attack pattern had already begun to take shape. Now, he could only adapt all over again. Fortunately, the physical training had still been beneficial, so it was not entirely wasted effort.
"I just don't know whether that earlier gamble worked. I hope it succeeds."
Han Li sat back down in his chair, his fingers unconsciously tapping against the tabletop as he considered his previous actions.
Over the past two years, he had anticipated many possibilities, but he truly had not expected one form of his Martial Soul to mutate into a bow. He had always taken his elders' teasing as a joke. A Super Douluo of Worship Hall like Broad Hill was not someone he could come into contact with.
But now, perhaps there was a slight chance. It was better than every route he had planned before.
Suddenly, his fingers stopped against the tabletop as he thought of the Plane Consciousness still slumbering.
"Perhaps this is the treatment of the Plane Father? Even if it's only a bargain-bin version?"
"It seems my way of thinking still hasn't changed. Something like luck appears to be even more powerful than I realized."
A smile blossomed across Han Li's face, and he laughed soundlessly. The expression on his handsome face gradually turned twisted. In the end, he could not hold back any longer. He threw himself onto the bed, buried his face in the blanket, and laughed out loud.
What he did not notice was that while he wriggled about on the bed, the door had opened. Xiu'er took one look at him, then quietly closed the door and retreated. "As expected, Xiao Li is still a child."
After waiting quite a while longer, until no sound came from the room, Xiu'er knocked on the door again. "Young Master, the city lord and the Spirit Hall deacon have arrived. You should come out and receive them."
The room fell silent for several seconds. Then Han Li opened the door with a smile, looking no different from usual, and headed toward the dining room with Xiu'er.
Spirit City. Two urgent intelligence reports were delivered simultaneously to Pope's Hall and Worship Hall.
Five minutes later, having received the message, Pope Bibi Dong entered the Worship Hall she so despised for the first time in a long while, accompanied by the Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluos.
She had not come for the so-called Innate Full Soul Power or that unusual Martial Soul. After all, aside from that "younger sister," no one possessed greater talent than she did. Besides, the genius was a boy. She did not like that very much. Even if he grew up, he would merely be a somewhat stronger Xie Yue—nothing worth noting.
She had come to hold them accountable. To her, this was a rare chance to weaken the Qian Family's influence within Spirit Hall once more.
