Background / History

Tang San initially studied under Yu Xiaogang at Notting Academy. After Yu Xiaogang was publicly humiliated by Ma Xiunuo and Su Yuntao, Tang San defended him, cited the successful acquisition of his animal Soul Ring, and voluntarily gave up his Soul Master subsidy rather than tolerate insults toward his teacher 10.

He possessed Tang Sect techniques and knowledge originating from a previous life. In an illusion controlled by Han Li, he confronted Tang Yin and the Tang Sect elders over the Wrath of the Buddha Tang Lotus, believing Tang Yin had reported him and stolen his creation 204. His true nature as a reincarnated spirit was later exposed to Tang Hao and Tang Xiao 308.

Tang San's relationship with Yu Xiaogang deteriorated after he discovered that his teacher had secretly broken through and was experimenting with Soul Beast bone replacement. Though he outwardly continued to assist Yu Xiaogang, he privately suspected that he was being used and considered harming him 226 230 234. He ultimately manipulated Yu Xiaogang's experiments by drugging him, altering his plans, and staging a supposed “mental breakthrough” 235.

Tang Hao arranged for Tang San to undergo the Bone Exchange Secret Method using King Kong Baboon bones. The operation reshaped his body, strengthened him, and resolved the rejection affecting his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul 248. Tang San subsequently pursued a ten-thousand-year Fourth Soul Ring and began publicly competing with Royal Fight Second Team 249 258.

During the Soul Master Competition, Tang San revealed both his ten-thousand-year Fourth Ring and later his second Martial Soul, the Clear Sky Hammer. His use of the Chaotic Cloak Hammer Technique exposed his Clear Sky Sect heritage to the audience and Spirit Hall 258 286 287.

After Tang Hao's defeat and capture by Han Li, Tang San attempted to defend his father against accusations of colluding with Soul Beasts 302. He later protected Xiao Wu from Han Li's attack, declaring that anyone wishing to harm her would have to step over his dead body 303. Han Li eventually revealed Tang San's reincarnated identity before killing him, Tang Hao, and Tang Xiao 308.

Tang San was fiercely loyal to those he regarded as his own. As a child, he publicly defended Yu Xiaogang and refused his subsidy in solidarity with his master 10. He was equally protective of Xiao Wu, acting against Han Li's attack despite fear and overwhelming danger 303.

His loyalty was complicated by suspicion, resentment, and a willingness to manipulate others. He concealed hostility toward Yu Xiaogang while pretending to be a caring disciple, secretly monitored him, and engineered his experiments to advance the bone-replacement method 226 230 233 235. He also maintained a personal “road to death” list that included Dai Mubai 231.

The King Kong Baboon enhancement worsened his violent impulses. When Xiao Wu was injured, its bloodthirsty instincts overwhelmed his rationality and drove him to focus on killing Zhu Zhuqing 266.
