Divinity Skills That Transcend Physics
Physical Strength Movement Speed Physical Defense.
Xue Jing's gaze moved back and forth between the three options.
Without a doubt, these three would provide the greatest boost to his combat power at this stage.
The others, such as Reaction Speed, Perception Ability, and Instinctive Intuition, were also good, but for now, their effects were clearly less direct than speed, strength, and defense.
After thinking for a while, Xue Jing first ruled out Physical Defense.
With Twin Life's passive resurrection effect, he did not currently need this kind of life-saving ability. Besides, as the Stone Throwing Immortal, he definitely would not fight enemies he could not beat at close range. Physical Defense was therefore optional.
That left strength or speed...
After considering it, Xue Jing chose Movement Speed.
With all his current skills supporting him, his Physical Strength was far from weak. Combined with his force, dealing with human-level bodies was effortless.
Senior Sister Zhu Shan Ying, whom Maomao had judged to be "much stronger than him," had been knocked unconscious on the spot by a single shoulder throw from him. Although that was because she had not used force to defend herself, it still showed that Martial Artists were somewhat like glass cannons—high offense, low defense.
Speed, on the other hand, was different. It was an attribute that would always be scarce, and one could never be too fast.
Among all martial arts under heaven, nothing is unbreakable—except speed!
Xue Jing selected Movement Speed.
In an instant, he instinctively understood, as naturally as breathing, how to use Twin Life's active effect.
"Twin Life, activate!"
The next moment, Xue Jing seemed like a video whose playback speed had been increased. His movements suddenly became twice as fast.
He rose to his feet, walked over to the freestanding punching bag, and sent it flying with a force-infused punch. The entire process was unbelievably fast.
"Huh? This feeling..." Xue Jing paused, a thoughtful look appearing in his eyes.
Then he tested it again. He propped the freestanding punching bag upright and threw another punch. It was just as unbelievably fast, as though someone had pressed the fast-forward button.
The freestanding punching bag flew away again and slammed into the wall.
"So that's how it is. It really is like this..." he muttered.
"One last test..."
Xue Jing left his home and the residential complex, arriving at the small garden track where he usually jogged in the mornings.
It was already eight or nine in the morning, and it was Monday. Most people were at work or school, so there were very few people in the garden. Only a few elderly men and women were strolling around, practicing martial arts, or exercising.
Xue Jing took out his phone and opened the timer. After confirming that no one nearby was looking at him, he pressed start. In an instant, he shot forward like a cannonball leaving its barrel, streaking across the track like a meteor at a speed humans could hardly achieve.
In just a few seconds, he had run half a lap. Then he stopped and pressed the timer.
5.12 seconds
"This track is two hundred meters long. Half a lap is one hundred meters... and it only took 5.12 seconds."
"So this is Twin Life's active effect in its true form?"
Delight appeared in Xue Jing's eyes.
"It ignores all physical laws and directly multiplies my Movement Speed by two..."
"Purely, conceptually, it makes my speed double!"
Xue Jing was ecstatic.
After all, physical training had diminishing returns.
For someone to improve their hundred-meter time from twenty seconds to twelve seconds was relatively easy. All it took was a period of sustained, high-intensity training.
But after twelve seconds, due to air resistance, physical limits, and other factors, every improvement of 0.1 seconds required a hundred or even a thousand times more effort than before.
Once one entered the realm of ten seconds, it became even more absurd. Every improvement of 0.01 seconds was an incredible achievement. Without enough talent and abundant resources, it was simply impossible.
But now, Twin Life directly ignored that limitation and simply doubled his speed! From 10.24 seconds to 5.12 seconds!
Imagine being in a dangerous close-quarters fight where even the slightest mistake could not be tolerated. Then, suddenly activating Twin Life and doubling the speed of every move—what kind of concept was that? It was a sudden acceleration that completely defied common sense and intuition. No one could possibly anticipate it. It was practically a Sure Hit.
This was Twin Life, a Divinity Skill that transcended physics! "Unfortunately, it really does only double my speed... My attack power is still calculated according to its original physical properties."
Speed was weight. The faster a punch, the greater its attack power, almost by definition.
Yet Twin Life only doubled his speed. That meant that even if he could throw a sonic-speed punch after Speed x2, the kinetic energy it unleashed would still be the kinetic energy of his original speed, rather than that of a sonic punch.
Even so, he still felt that Twin Life's speed could only be described with one word: invincible.
"Then does that mean Twin Life's Physical Strength and Physical Defense also multiply by two while ignoring physical laws?"
The moment Xue Jing thought of this, he could no longer sit still.
Didn't he need to hurry up and get seventeen or eighteen God Relics to absorb?
"I'm fucking starving for it!"
He picked up his phone and looked at Wu Youqing in his contacts.
She was the only channel through which he could come into contact with God Relics. He had no idea when another job would come.
Sighing, Xue Jing calmed himself down.
Just as he was about to continue testing the effects of Twin Life's speed, he suddenly realized... he seemed unable to use it anymore.
He opened the panel for a look. Twin Life Lv1, which had originally been glowing with golden light, had become dim and dull.
"Huh? There's a cooldown too?"
Xue Jing's mouth twitched.
He examined Twin Life on the panel carefully. The golden light around its text was gradually recovering bit by bit.
"I used it for a little over five seconds while running, plus the time I used it at home earlier..."
Xue Jing did a rough calculation. It seemed that using Twin Life's speed for around twenty seconds had put it on cooldown.
In that case... he would have to use this move carefully.
He also had no idea how long the cooldown was, or whether leveling it up would increase its duration.
"A Ban, is this really your limit?"
Xue Jing was a little disappointed that it had not lived up to expectations.
By the time he returned home, Maomao had already woken up. She was curled up on the living room sofa, watching an animated show while licking her sleep-mussed fur.
When she saw Xue Jing return, she opened her mouth in a yawn, revealing several sharp teeth.
"Didn't you go to school? Why are you back so soon?"
Xue Jing smiled and said,
"I missed Sect Leader so much that I couldn't help taking leave and coming back."
He had only meant it as a joke, buoyed by his good mood after activating Twin Life.
But to Xue Jing's surprise, Maomao froze for a moment upon hearing it, then turned her face away from him, presenting him with her back.
"I see..."
The young girl's voice seemed to carry a hint of shyness, while the cat tail that could never hide her feelings swayed lightly.
Xue Jing: "..."
If he said he was joking now, would she claw him to death on the spot?
