Amgilla's Last Ruler
Call!
Luo Jun breathed a sigh of relief after climbing over the wall; it felt so good to have his feet firmly on the ground.
But he had no time to rest. The weight of the roof was even stronger and was constantly ravaging his body. Under these circumstances, he might trip and never be able to get up again.
We must get over it as soon as possible!
Luo Jun took incredibly heavy steps and walked towards the pyramids.
As he got closer, Luo Jun felt the gravity on his body getting stronger and stronger. The rooftop, which was only a little over 20 meters wide, felt like a marathon to Luo Jun. He felt his knees and spine screaming with every step, and his internal organs were being squeezed and pulled. There was no part of his body that didn't hurt.
Having finally reached the other side, Luo Jun looked ahead and saw the enormous pyramid. Looking down, he saw that there were no longer any obstacles between the structure beneath his feet and the pyramid!
It worked!
Luo Jun breathed a sigh of relief and jumped down from the wall.
The moment his feet lost their support, he was accelerated to his Limit by terrifying gravity, even breaking the Sound Barrier!
Fortunately, gravity decreased during the fall, causing air resistance and gravity to quickly reach equilibrium, which reduced his falling speed to some extent. Upon reaching a certain height, he was able to mobilize his vital energy to protect his joints and internal organs!
This process happened in a split second. From the side, it looked like he stepped over the roof and then, like a bullet, whooshed down and crashed to the ground with a loud thud...
The shattered bricks began to heal, and a pale blue warm mist rose up, healing Luo Jun's injuries.
Fortunately, the ground is not as indestructible as buildings. The broken bricks and stones cushioned Luo Jun's injuries, and he recovered quickly under the treatment of the Water Healing Construct.
Stepping out of the treatment area of the facility, a massive pyramid came into view.
This pyramid is larger than any other pyramid in the Main World, and its stones are regular and flat, shining brightly under the reflection of the gemstone at the top, as if it had never experienced the ravages of time.
At the same time, a notification sounded in Luo Jun's mind indicating that the mission was complete.
"A total of twelve dice were rolled during the mission, earning a total of Experience Points points."
"Mission Difficulty 85 points, Severity Coefficient 12x, 1020 chips awarded."
Sure enough, it was just a small game with a low Severity Coefficient; the average success yielded less than 200 experience points, but it did give out quite a few chips. Adding to the original amount, I now have 2770 chips.
Great, we're just a little short of the goal of 3,000! We only need to complete one more task to make it happen!
After putting away the quest panel, Luo Jun ran around the pyramid. On the bottom layer of the giant stone, he could see many complex Ancient Parami Inscriptions, but he couldn't find any entrance or anything like that. It seemed that he would need a guide to explore further.
There was only one entrance to the city area around the pyramid, Luo Jun walked in.
The dice rolls are all gone, but looking at the time, there's less than half an hour left before it refreshes.
I remember when I was first swept into Amgilla, it must have been afternoon. There is no day or night in this space. As I explored, it was already past midnight...
Fortunately, once the task was completed, he could use the extra dice rolls beyond the task's limit. He walked to the first intersection, waited a while until the dice book refreshed, then crossed two more intersections and finally returned to the place where he had climbed over the wall earlier.
The others were still waiting there, and when they saw Ye return, they excitedly went up to him. "Is that really a pyramid behind us?"
Luo Jun nodded. "But I can't find the entrance; I need someone who understands the Ancient Parami script to decipher it."
As he spoke, he turned back and said, "Come with me."
Relying on his memory of the journey, Luo Jun led the group through several forks in the road and finally arrived at the foot of the pyramids.
"It's truly magnificent up close!" Jin Fei exclaimed, looking up.
"Mu Ning, can you see anything?" Zhuge Chi asked, but Mu Ning shook her head. "The pyramid itself has a huge energy field, making it impossible to probe its internal structure."
"Is the lost caravan really inside?" Ottos stared at the ring of inscriptions at the base of the pyramid. "What do these mean?"
Ophelia glanced at them and explained, "They're mostly prayers used in rituals, to praise achievements and thank the Deity."
"No clues?" Luo Jun asked.
"At least from this side, there's nothing special," Ophelia said. "Let's look at the other sides; maybe we'll find some clues."
The group could only begin circling the base of the pyramid, with Ophelia deciphering the inscriptions along the way. "This pyramid is the tomb of Menehses, the last ruler of Amgilla, who is also the legendary first ruler to build a pyramid."
"Legend has it that Menestheus was extremely warlike. In order to gain greater power, conquer more land, and build enormous pyramids, he attempted to steal divine power. One of the main reasons for the sinking of Amgilla was Karruth's punishment of him."
"However, all records about him exist only in Myth, with no artifacts to corroborate them. This pyramid is irrefutable proof that this last emperor once existed!"
"Wait a minute..." Zhuge Chi questioned, "As far as I know, many of the Ancient Parami emperors had the habit of building pyramids, and many ruins still remain today... Since the pyramids are said to be a symbol of Deity, why would later emperors imitate them?"
"Because their functions are different," Ophelia explained. "Legend has it that the pyramids of Menehses were not intended as tombs, but simply as devices to gather and steal power. However, the great god Karruth, to punish him, sealed him inside the pyramids, using them as prisons to imprison his soul, and commanded that future emperors must also be buried inside the pyramids, sacrificing their souls to the Deity, or else the disaster of Amgilla would be repeated, causing the complete destruction of Parami."
"So later emperors chose to build pyramids as their tombs because of Menehses's original sin?" Jin Fei looked up at the massive pyramid. "Could it be that there's some kind of Curse from the Great God Karruth inside?"
"What I just said is the legend that has been passed down," Ophelia said, her eyes fixed on the inscriptions on the pyramid as she walked. "But the records here are different from the Myth, even completely opposite..."
"The inscription indicates that this pyramid was built by Menehses at the behest of the Great God Karruth, with the purpose of fighting against the evil god who invaded the world."
"Menehses was not a warlike ruler who enjoyed aggression. On the contrary, he was a benevolent and loving ruler who was deeply loved by his people. Under his rule, Amgilla reached an unprecedented level of prosperity. However, in his later years, he did become increasingly militaristic, but his purpose was to fight against the enemies who had invaded Amgilla —the followers of the Evil God Dius!"
"The Evil God Dius?" Ottos frowned. "That name sounds familiar?"
"The pronunciation of Ancient Parami Language differs from that of Common Language," Ophelia said calmly. "If pronounced according to Common Language conventions, it should be pronounced as Dias."
"Dias?"
Now, everyone except Luo Jun stared wide-eyed:
"The deity worshipped by the Holy See, Holy Father Dias?"
