Thor, You Should Evolve into a God of War

The next day, major media outlets around the world went into a frenzy reporting on what had happened in New Mexico.

If it had only been Thor being unable to lift Mjolnir, it would not have been such a big deal, not enough to alarm the entire world.

But then there was Kaecilius dueling Loki, Magneto personally joining the fight, and Duva leading a massive force into battle. After lifting Thunder God's Hammer, he had even wildly wielded divine power, triggering large-scale weather changes.

This was no longer something that could be kept hidden.

Even an idiot knew that some major event had taken place in New Mexico, that extraordinarily powerful superhumans had been involved, and that a fierce battle had erupted.

Now, anyone around the world with even the slightest information channels roughly knew what had happened. With a big shot like Magneto personally taking action and going all out, the rumor that Thor had descended upon Earth had undoubtedly been confirmed.

Scattered information about the Eternals and Deviants also began quietly spreading.

"So that's what happened. The news really can't be suppressed anymore." Coulson looked haggard, his entire body wrapped in bandages. "That special serum they just injected into me won't have any aftereffects, right?"

"Under those circumstances, it was already a miracle that you came back alive. I had prepared myself to lose you, so don't worry about the serum. It was only a half-finished serum, and its only effect is to speed up recovery, but it won't have any problem healing your terrible condition."

Fury stood with his hands behind his back, gazing out the window. Sunlight bathed his figure, but it could never dispel the heavy clouds hanging over his face.

Everyone knew that from this moment on, the world would head in another direction. The terrifying power wielded by superhumans could no longer be concealed.

As for suppressing the news like before... how was he supposed to suppress this incident? Tell people it was merely an abnormal global weather event? Abnormal enough that all the strange weather seemed to grow legs, travel thousands of kilometers, and specifically rush to New Mexico before erupting?

"I have a feeling, Coulson, that if we seriously try to explain this to the public, they'll only see it as a grave provocation," Fury said with his hands behind his back.

Coulson understood immediately. "Because we'd be trying to insult their intelligence. Then we should release a large number of fake reports and use an overwhelming amount of junk information to squeeze out the real intelligence. At the very least, it can weaken the impact of this incident."

"That's all we can do. But I'm worried about Duva's side. That dangerous bastard! Motherfucker! He was the biggest winner in this whole incident!" Fury was an extremely calm man, but when he thought of the culprit behind this enormous uproar, he still could not hold it together.

He repeatedly flipped through Duva's file. He had spent an entire day and night thinking about it, yet he still could not figure out what exactly was wrong with this guy. Why was he so damn good at stirring things up?

"Chief, compared to his audacity and ambition, perhaps we should first find a way to clarify something else. Intelligence indicates that he always seems to know a great deal of secret information. Perhaps that was how he attracted Magneto, who had been investigating information about the ancient Deviants, and that led to this whole series of events," Coulson said.

The psychological profile they had built for Duva had reached a new conclusion: Duva was extremely skilled at exploiting every opportunity. Beneath that lazy demeanor was a striking shrewdness. He could always rapidly arrange whatever pieces he had at hand, fitting them together like building blocks into a combination that could generate the greatest possible value.

This report was freshly completed. It might prove useful in the future, but right now, it was fucking useless.

It only further fueled Fury's anger. His breathing grew heavy, his chest rising and falling as he nearly burst with rage.

"The way you look right now makes me wonder whether you've also been parasitized by a Xenomorph and become one of his people. I suggest you get an X-ray," Coulson said, his expression turning solemn.

Fury glanced at Coulson. He knew that this senior agent's words were half joke, half truth. Since he had said it, he truly harbored suspicions.

"I will. Not just me—everyone in the S.H.I.E.L.D. system will undergo regular physical examinations." Fury rubbed his forehead.

Parasitized... He thought again of Duva's insane method that Coulson had described.

He had stuffed a newly parasitized larva into his own body to obtain part of Thor's genes? Then he had used that chance to lift Thunder God's Hammer?

Honestly, if he had not known that Coulson would never lie to him, and if all surveillance records at the scene had not been instantly cut off and destroyed by Magneto's magnetic field, he would have suspected Coulson of drinking counterfeit liquor.

It was simply too absurd. Even if Duva had accomplished it with magic, it would have been easier to accept. Or more radically, even if he had sacrificed the Xenomorphs under his command on the spot to some Otherdimensional Demon God to achieve it, Fury would have found that more believable.

"The value of the Xenomorphs exceeds our imagination. We can now reach a conclusion about one possibility we've been speculating about: a larva that has only recently parasitized a host can be surgically removed, and the host can basically be confirmed to survive," Coulson said.

Fury asked, "Then what about the Xenomorph inside Duva? He probably used the genes of a Xenomorph Larva to gain superhuman power, yet he was able to remove the Xenomorph Larva that had parasitized him for a long time and replace it with the larva inside Thor."

"Perhaps Duva can control the larva and stop its development. But once the larva bursts from the chest, the host will most likely die, because the Xenomorph integrates and plunders all the superior genetic material in the body. Combined with the results of our examination of Abomination's remains, this is the most likely outcome."

"Even the host's self-healing ability fails..." Fury's expression darkened further. If that were true, then this thing was practically the nemesis of all superhumans. Yet deep fervor also showed in his eyes.

He hated Duva. He hated even more that he had failed to discover the Xenomorphs' power earlier and act sooner. What he hated most was that he was not Duva, the one controlling this terrifying species for his own use.

But soon, that would no longer be the case.

Fury finally turned around. "But not necessarily. A Chestburster takes away the host's superior genes. The question is, how will the host's remaining genes define the Xenomorph that has left the body? If it identifies it as part of itself, then of course the self-healing ability will fail, because self-healing cannot create a second set of organs out of thin air. There must be some unknown secret here that we haven't cracked."

If living organisms did not have such a recognition mechanism, then wouldn't a minor injury that healed normally cause new brains, hearts, arms, legs, and other things to grow out of the wound within minutes?

The body could not "heal" organs that should not exist, or a second set of organs. But what if the host consciously controlled their superhuman healing ability, or external forces interfered with their genes, and thus "created" a second set of organs? For example, those organs in the chest cavity that the Xenomorph had taken away?

No, there was another issue: whether the host's self-healing ability possessed such flexibility. Even if it did, could the remaining genetic material still accomplish such a thing?

Fury and Coulson exchanged a glance.

Coulson looked suspicious. "Chief, I think something is wrong with your condition. Either you aren't Nick Fury, or you embarked on some insane adventure without my knowledge. It must have been an operation of tremendous value to you for you to be this excited."

"What do you think?"

"I've already guessed what it is, but my instincts tell me it's not that simple. Duva wouldn't leave such an obvious loophole, and most importantly, the Xenomorph Matriarch has always remained by his side."

The two fell silent at the same time.

Duva returned with his spoils: Thor, Makkari, and seventeen Deviants.

Naturally, he was still using Tony's plane to return.

The price had also been extraordinarily steep. More than half the Xenomorph force he had brought had died, and he himself had been seriously injured several times. In the end, he had joined forces with Magneto to drive off Kaecilius, then used Thor's life as leverage to temporarily force Loki back.

If there was anything unsatisfactory about it, it was undoubtedly the old man who kept trying to communicate with him.

"...Got it. Fine. Goodbye. Stop bothering me."

"Peace? Yes, long live peace. I love peace. I'll practice peace through my actions..."

The X-Men had arrived late and missed the battle, but Professor X was truly annoying. His telepathic ability, which could cover the entire world, was even more annoying.

Whenever Duva thought of Professor X wearing Cerebro and possessing the power to slaughter the entire world, massacring hundreds of millions at a time, his head began to ache.

That old man was simply too formidable. Now he had set his sights on Duva and kept trying to communicate with him, which was truly a headache.

"He's finally gone." Duva carefully sensed his surroundings and confirmed that Professor X's psychic power was no longer nearby.

If they were talking about psychic links, Duva could do that too, though it was limited to the connection between himself and all Xenomorphs. Because of that, he possessed some resistance to Professor X's mental control. He could even mobilize the consciousnesses of every Xenomorph and construct a psychic network to resist any form of mental invasion together.

However, at its current scale, it was still insufficient to resist Professor X.

"After all, he's one of the two poles of mutantkind. He and Erik have fought each other for most of their lives." Raven spoke as she watched Duva.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You did it on purpose. You used Erik again."

"You call that using him? It was clearly a transaction. Erik already obtained all the intelligence he wanted about the Deviants. Without me, where else would he have learned it? The intelligence I provided gave him great help in formulating his next plan of action. The fact that he left immediately after obtaining it proves that."

Duva swung Thunder God's Hammer, tossing it from his left hand to his right, then from his right hand back to his left.

Lightning kept appearing around the hammer, yet it did not harm Duva in the slightest.

Raven looked away and stared at Thunder God's Hammer, her face still filled with disbelief. She found all of this far too absurd. Duva, a human, had led a force out for a trip, only to return as a "god"? "You actually didn't kill the real Thunder God?" Raven pointed at the unconscious Thor lying on the ground.

"Your expression is interesting. It makes me feel like I'm some cheap imitation. Also, I can actually sense your respect for me. What an honor. At least that proves my efforts have been genuinely useful."

Duva stood before the heavy iron gate of his home, looking at the bullet holes covering it and the obvious breach blasted open by heavy weaponry. Then he looked up at the scarred building before finally glancing back at the corpses scattered outside.

Tsk. During the few hours he had been gone, someone truly fearless had come knocking.

"The other side was well-trained, so we can't directly determine who they worked for. But they were very familiar with the building's aboveground layout. It may have been S.H.I.E.L.D.," Raven replied.

"You think Blade leaked it? It's also possible that they had this building's blueprints."

Duva did not take it to heart. Plenty of people wanted a piece of him, but there were few organizations with the nerve and the ability to assemble a heavily armed force and send it over in such a short time.

"I'm relieved that the two of you survived." Duva looked at Elektra, who was lying inside playing dead with an entire thigh missing, and said with satisfaction.

"Boss, you should give me a raise. Even when I was with The Hand, I never did jobs that involved going head-to-head with heavily armed forces." Elektra complained as she struggled to regenerate her severed leg.

As if both aggrieved and showing off, she displayed her broken blade.

Duva expressed his warm sympathy, saying that minor wounds such as lost arms or legs were not worth mentioning, and solemnly promised that next time, he definitely would.

"Just as you ordered, we let them steal a Xenomorph Egg. I really don't understand what you're trying to do," Elektra said, utterly puzzled.

"To expand the army. Those people had already acquired Xenomorph blood anyway. I've fought so many battles with vampires that the blood left behind by injured Xenomorphs has spread throughout vampire hideouts all over New York City. It wouldn't be difficult for them to obtain it. I'm simply trying to accelerate their progress."

Duva said something they did not understand, then turned to look at Thor lying on the ground.

The gaping hole in Thor's chest had stopped bleeding by now. It had to be said that the vitality of the God-King's descendant was absurdly powerful.

Of course, that was also because Duva had stripped out the Xenomorph immediately, minimizing the damage to Thor's body. If it had developed normally until it burst from the chest, Thor had a small chance of dying—though that depended on what Odin in this universe was thinking.

More likely, an outside force would intervene and use magic or other methods to repair Thor's chest cavity.

"Elektra, bandage Your Highness. I've already contacted Tony Stark. He'll send a group of doctors over. This is an opportunity to study a god's offspring, so he's very interested," Duva casually ordered.

He truly could not let Thor die here. It would be fine as long as Thor still had a breath left in him, but if he truly died, that would become a major incident.

No one knew what Odin's attitude would be, and the fleeing Loki would also go mad.

Duva first selected a Xenomorph Egg and used it to parasitize Makkari, the speedster, ensuring that his forces would have someone capable of rapidly transporting troops in the future.

Tony's side was highly efficient. Before long, a helicopter delivered several internists and advanced medical equipment.

"Is this the Thunder God everyone's talking about online?"

"How did he end up like this? A small portion of his internal organs is missing, yet every functional indicator of the remaining organs still far exceeds those of a human!"

"Mr. Duva, we even reattached his severed hand. We did everything we could, but for some reason, he just won't wake up," one doctor finally said.

"Don't worry. I have a way."

Duva lifted Thunder God's Hammer and placed it on Thor.

BOOM!

A bolt of lightning struck Thor.

The power of the Thunder God was rapidly absorbed by Thor's body.

"Son of Odin, you ultimately were not parasitized by my power, so there's no need to risk your life against me for the sake of your pride. Then the two of us can have a talk. I imagine you have much to say to me."

Duva spoke slowly. "Why don't we first discuss why Odin, the God-King, exiled you to Earth? And why you lost your divine power? Perhaps you should hear my advice."
