Unlocking a New Ability (Please Vote)
Looking at the abandoned little house before him, Su Yao walked straight inside.
But not long after entering, he stopped in his tracks.
"Who are you? Why did you come here?"
Two men and a woman emerged from a room nearby, their eyes filled with vigilance.
Su Yao sized up the two men and the woman.
They looked to be in their twenties or thirties. Both men had faces full of stubble and appeared somewhat dejected. The woman looked a little better, though not by much.
Their clothes were all worn and tattered. They did not seem to be the original owners of the house, but rather drifters.
Su Yao briefly explained, "I thought no one was here, so..."
Seeing his good attitude and that he did not look like a bad person, the three of them relaxed slightly.
"We've claimed this place. Please leave."
Mark, the oldest and most composed-looking of the three, spoke up.
But Su Yao caught another meaning in his words and asked, "This house isn't yours?"
"We claimed it, so it's ours." Mark frowned at the young man before him, somewhat annoyed by his lack of tact.
The other man and woman thought the same. They felt very displeased, believing the boy before them did not know when to quit. He had clearly seen that there were three of them, yet he still dared not leave.
Was this guy really that bold? The younger-looking, muscular blond man snapped irritably, "If you don't leave, we'll beat you out!"
Just then, something strange happened to the hot-tempered young man, drawing Su Yao's attention.
His body suddenly swelled dramatically, muscles bulging one after another. He looked like a gorilla, massive and powerfully built.
"A mutant?" A strange glint flashed through Su Yao's eyes.
Before he could do anything, the young man's two companions became anxious first.
"Kirill, are you okay?"
"Calm down, Kirill!"
"Huff... huff..." Kirill panted, trying hard to calm himself.
Only after his body returned to normal did he say, "I'm fine. I just got a little worked up and lost control of my ability."
The other two sighed in relief and nodded.
"He saw Kirill transform. What should we do with him?" The young red-haired woman frowned.
As soon as she spoke, the three exchanged flickering glances, and a trace of malice surfaced in their eyes.
By then, Su Yao had more or less figured out the situation.
"So they're three mutants hiding here. That makes things easier."
Su Yao fell into thought.
Driving them away or killing them would both be inappropriate, and either would cause too much commotion. That left only revealing a little of his ability and showing that he was one of their kind.
The three in the distance wore cold expressions. After secretly exchanging glances, Mark made a hand signal, indicating that they should proceed according to their earlier plan.
Just as they were about to work together and silently take down the boy before them, a scene appeared that left them dumbfounded! A black particle emerged from the boy's fingertip, then struck the ground in front of them with lightning speed.

The sound of an object grinding and cutting echoed out, and an egg-sized deep hole appeared in the ground.
"Hiss..."
The three drew sharp breaths, cold sweat immediately breaking out across their foreheads.
That power...
If it had not hit the ground, but them instead...
The three could not help imagining it, and fear welled up in their hearts.
This boy's ability was terrifying—far more powerful than an ordinary bullet. If they were hit, they would definitely die! After their shock subsided, Mark looked at the boy's golden eyes, revealed beneath the sunlight, and hesitantly asked, "Are you a mutant too?"
Su Yao nodded.
Though they had already guessed as much, seeing him nod still made Mark and the others breathe a sigh of relief.
Once they confirmed he was one of their kind, the hostility in their eyes immediately diminished greatly.
Mark introduced them. "My name is Mark. The guy beside me who can turn into a big brute is Kirill. The other one is my sister."
"Hello, I'm Heidi." The red-haired woman smiled awkwardly.
"You can call me Su."
The three nodded.
After exchanging names, the more impulsive Kirill asked curiously, "Buddy, why did you come to a place like this?"
As he spoke, he swept his gaze around the area, as if asking why Su Yao had come to such a rundown place.
Su Yao thought for a moment instead of answering first, then asked, "What about you?"
"We..." Kirill hesitated before saying, "We're avoiding pursuit."
As he spoke, he shrugged. "Well, you know, after exposing our abilities a little, someone reported us, and then..."
"My situation is about the same as yours," Su Yao said casually.
Hearing that, the three of them quickly imagined a whole series of scenes in their minds. They even imagined why he had come here.
The three looked at him with the eyes of fellow sufferers.
At that moment, Kirill asked eagerly and with interest, "Su, was that your ability just now? It looked so cool!"
"It was pretty powerful too," Heidi praised from the side.
Su Yao nodded vaguely, then asked curiously, "What are your abilities?"
Mark said, "You've seen Kirill's ability. Mine is X-Ray Vision, and as for my sister..."
He looked at Heidi, signaling for her to explain herself.
"My ability is farsight. I can clearly see anything within a kilometer!" Heidi smiled modestly.
Before she could finish, Kirill eagerly chimed in, "Hey, you don't know this, but their abilities are amazing. They can even combine them and use them together!"
"Hehe, it's thanks to the two of them that we've managed to hide for so long."
"Oh, of course, my sharp five senses help too. That's how we can..."
While he kept rambling on, Su Yao grew somewhat thoughtful.
He murmured, "Using abilities together..."
He knew of situations like that. In his previous life, he had seen similar examples while watching American TV shows.
For instance, there had been a brother and sister whose abilities were both ordinary on their own, but when they held hands and used them together, they could unleash enough power to destroy an entire building! Of course, such cooperation had requirements: they needed to be related by blood, and their abilities had to be compatible.
"Together, these two can probably see anything within a kilometer, right?"
Su Yao sighed inwardly.
After introducing their abilities to each other, both sides had developed some trust. When Su Yao suggested staying here for the night, they hesitated briefly before agreeing.
During that time, Kirill enthusiastically helped him tidy up his things.
After everything had been sorted out, Su Yao glanced at the three people discussing something in the distance and turned his attention to the panel.
Looking at the more than one thousand Energy Points that were still constantly increasing, anticipation appeared in his eyes.
"It should be enough to awaken the next ability. I wonder what it'll be. I'm really curious!"
Thinking that, Su Yao poured all of his Energy Points into Unlock Progress with eager anticipation.
