Li Mobai was one of Tianlan Sect's foremost True Monarchs and an elder generation figure to Fang Xiao's master, Ling Taichu. When Fang Xiao reported a route into the Taibai Main Hall, Li Mobai personally investigated through a Foundation Establishment avatar, completed the Taibai Sword Sect's True Inheritance Assessment, and entered the main hall with him. 70 71

During the Taibai exploration, Li Mobai protected Fang Xiao from outside pressure, forcing Shangqing Sect's Cang Xi to compensate Fang Xiao after confronting him with crimson spiritual flame. He also promised to resolve Fang Xiao's damaged origin and later personally guided him in condensing firmament energy through the Primordial One Qi Method. 83 84 92
