Background / History

Dosu entered Konoha for the Chunin Exams as part of an Otogakure three-man squad with Zaku and Kin. During the First Exam, he joined an apparent attack on Yakushi Kabuto, striking with a rapid series of iron-fist attacks. Rock Lee and Naruto immediately counterattacked, sending Dosu flying. He used a chakra-powered sonic boom to stabilize himself midair and retaliated with a sonic wave that drove Kabuto into a classroom wall. 113

During the Forest of Death, Dosu's squad monitored Team Seven from several hundred meters away. Their surveillance depended on firelight and normal eyesight; despite their sound-based techniques, they did not use echolocation or possess enhanced tracking senses. 120 When fighting broke out near Kin, Dosu moved to assist her, but Team Seven's ambush stopped him before he could act: a blade was placed at his neck, and the team took the Sound trio's Heaven and Earth scrolls. 120

Dosu later showed sympathy for Zaku after Zaku lost an arm in the preliminary matches, despite the Sound team's otherwise limited camaraderie. 126 In the final preliminary match, Dosu faced Chōji Akimichi. He repeatedly used sonic booms to part Chōji's Fire Style flames and force a path through the attack, winning the bout. 132

Personality

Dosu is cautious in the field, questioning his leader's instruction to wait until dawn while his team guarded Team Seven and considering a safer camp position. 119 He reacts quickly when a teammate is threatened, immediately moving to support Kin during Team Seven's ambush. 120

Though the Otogakure trio is described as a temporary team with little prior camaraderie, Dosu is the only teammate noted as showing Zaku sympathy after his injury. 126

Sonic Boom Manipulation
