Background / History

Four Eyes is a Maoshan Taoist and Uncle Nine's junior martial brother. While escorting a line of corpses toward Shaanxi, he encounters Yang Xuan fighting a zombie. After identifying himself and his sect, he guides Yang Xuan to Ren Family Town, where Yang seeks apprenticeship under Uncle Nine. 20

He remains at the Mortuary long enough to witness Yang Xuan immobilize several low-grade zombies without damaging them. Relieved that his “customers” were unharmed, Four Eyes subsequently resumes his journey. 23

Yang Xuan later accepts Four Eyes' invitation to cultivate at his remote home. Four Eyes escorts Yang Xuan and Ren Tingting there with his corpses, introducing them to his disciple Jiale upon arrival. 32 33 34

When the Royal Zombie crisis develops, Four Eyes cooperates with Yi Xiu and Yang Xuan. He helps establish a Big Dipper formation that, combined with Yi Xiu's Buddhist inscriptions and Yang Xuan's strength, subdues the Royal Zombie for capture. 40 41

Personality

Four Eyes is practical and protective of the corpses entrusted to him, calling them his “guests” and responding angrily when a fox spirit drains one of their yin energy. He regards corpse escorting as both a livelihood and a means to eliminate monsters and refine his cultivation. 33

He is also notably stingy, lazy, and mischievous. He refuses to let Yang Xuan freely experiment on his corpses, but eagerly stays at the Mortuary for good food. He later uses a Puppet Curse to torment Yi Xiu after buying the monk's house. 23 37 38

Despite frequently bickering with Yi Xiu, Four Eyes readily joins him to search for their endangered junior brother and works with him during the Royal Zombie incident. 39 40

He brings Yang Xuan and Ren Tingting to his secluded home while escorting corpses at night. During the journey, he fights off a fox spirit that targets one of his zombies and considers Yang Xuan's offer to teach him National Arts. 33

Life at the Wilderness Home

At home, Four Eyes reunites with Jiale, argues with Yi Xiu, and buys Yi Xiu's house to escape his chanting. He then uses a Puppet Curse to retaliate against his neighbor. 34 37
