At the very moment Charlie was born, far away in Golden Tree City, the Royal Capital of the Raine Kingdom, Victor suddenly felt a stirring in his heart as he chatted warmly with a kingdom marquis at the latter's residence. He sprang to his feet and looked east.
The marquis was startled by Victor's movement, but soon realized that Victor had merely stood up to look east and did nothing more. Bewildered, he hesitated for a moment before asking, "Marquis Victor, are you feeling unwell?"
Only then did Victor come back to his senses. With an apologetic expression, he said to the marquis, "My mind suddenly wandered just now. For some reason, I felt terribly homesick. My apologies, Marquis Bairami!"
Marquis Bairami chuckled at Victor's words. "Come to think of it, Marquis Victor, you must have been away from your territory for some time. It's only natural to feel homesick all of a sudden!"
What Marquis Bairami really wanted to say was that Victor was already a grown man, and a renowned commander seasoned on the battlefield at that. How could he suddenly become homesick?
But Victor was quick to answer. "I'm rather embarrassed to admit it, but my wife is pregnant, and her due date is actually around now. I lost myself in thought just now because she's about to give birth!"
After hearing Victor's explanation, Bairami felt rather ashamed and regretted his ill-timed remark. "I see. This must be your first child, Marquis Victor. No wonder you're so eager to get home at a time like this.
"In fact, you've already finished your audience with His Majesty the King. You can certainly prepare to return to the Vela Region!"
Victor nodded. "Yes, I intend to leave immediately. I know there's no real basis for it, but I feel
