At the front of the Sauron Army, Unag stood on horseback, his cold gaze sweeping across the formidable, heavily fortified position surrounding Carnford, which relied on its advantageous terrain.

Even someone as battle-hardened and resolute as him couldn't help but feel a sense of gravity and hesitation at this moment.

Forcibly attacking such a defensive system would come at a great cost.

He turned his head slightly and said to the officer beside him, a man as muscular as a bear, wearing leather armor adorned with peacock feather patterns, "Invag, take a close look at the enemy formation opposite you. What do you think?"

Invag, the Battle Group Commander of the Sparrow Corps, was ordered by Harald to lead nearly a thousand infantrymen, including auxiliary troops, to reinforce Unag.

Although the Sparrow Corps is not one of Harald's three core legions—the Wolf, Tiger, and Bear Legions—its strength has expanded rapidly in recent years, making it a force to be reckoned with in the Sauron Army. Its size and combat power have already made it the leading second-line legion.

In order to prevent the garrison of Fran City from taking advantage of the situation during this southward raid, Harald, as was customary, needed to leave behind a sufficiently strong army to keep watch and contain them.

This was originally a thankless and arduous task, as it meant neither participating in the looting and profit sharing nor being able to participate in the constant vigilance, something that all military units had previously avoided.

Harald's decision to keep the increasingly powerful Sparrow Corps on this mission was undoubtedly an attempt to weaken and punish them.

Promising them to loot freely after capturing Carnford was a way of appeasing and compensating them for their dissatisfaction.

Upon hearing this, Invag narrowed his weathered eyes and carefully examined the Broomflower defense line in the distance.

Several grotesque scars crisscrossed his rugged face, twitching slightly as he chewed his tobacco.

"Tsk," he spat out a mouthful of thick saliva, his voice hoarse, "Although it looks like there aren't many people and the line isn't very long, this location is damn tricky! On both sides are hills or stone fortresses, completely trapping our army in this small area in front, unable to spread out! The cavalry can't charge, and if there are too many men, they're all crammed together. We can only grit our teeth and bite our way up!"

His finger pointed to the conspicuous breastwork and moat. "See that? That wall and moat have rendered most of our arrows ineffective! If we shoot upwards, the force is weaker, and the arrows are easily blocked by the wall, unless we get very close. But then we're within range of their arrow towers on the city walls, practically sitting ducks!"

His gaze finally settled on the regularly spaced gaps in the breastwork, a hint of wariness flashing in his eyes. "And those gaps... they weren't left randomly. I bet there are those smoke-and-thunder-like Broomflower Musketeers hiding behind them! They're just waiting for our men to squeeze through the gaps so they can give us a good beating!"

Unag nodded grimly.

Although he and Invag were both from the Sauron Tribe, which was considered "barbarians," they spent almost their entire lives in battle and slaughter. Their rich combat experience gave them a beast-like intuition and accurate judgment of the battlefield situation.

They may not understand the complex etiquette and politics of the civilized world, but they are absolute masters at how to more effectively kill enemies and protect themselves.

In contrast, many aristocratic officers in the civilized world are often distracted by power struggles, extravagant lifestyles, and complex cultures, and often find themselves at a disadvantage in the art of commanding purely on the battlefield with cold weapons.

"That's right," Unag said in a low voice. "If we don't smash their first line of defense, we can forget about ever getting past that even more formidable stone castle."

Invag grinned, revealing a set of yellow teeth, with a cruel sneer, "They can't bear to part with these newly built fields and houses at the foot of the mountain; that's their biggest weakness! If they had all retreated into that stone tortoise shell from the start, we wouldn't have had a good chance of dealing with them."

"But now... they've given us the chance to crush them completely in the wild! They've brought this upon themselves!"

The two quickly exchanged opinions and soon reached a consensus.

Hesitation and procrastination are pointless; only a strong attack will suffice.

"Let's do it!" Unag made up his mind, his eyes flashing with a fierce light. "Invag, you take six hundred elite soldiers from your infantry! No auxiliary troops, just the most capable and fearless fighters!"

"Alright!" Invag agreed without hesitation. "Six hundred men! I'll lead the team myself!"

Unag continued his deployment, "My cavalry are not good at attacking from dismount, but I will give you a hundred of my most elite mounted archers. They will all dismount and provide arrow cover from the rear, doing their best to suppress their arrow towers and the defenders on the walls!"

"Focus the assault on the front!" Unag pointed heavily at the virtual battle map. "Four hundred men, main attack on the frontal breastwork! Don't rush in haphazardly! Divide into several waves and tear it down! Even if we have to use corpses, we must build a path!"

He then pointed to the small stone fortress built against the rocks on the west side. "The other two hundred men, go and attack that rocky outcrop! It's their flank stronghold. It's tough to take, but once we capture it, we can threaten their entire flank, leaving them unable to defend both ends! I'll have the remaining cavalry patrol the outer perimeter to prevent them from sending reinforcements from other places!"

"Understood!" Invag pounded his chest, turned and strode towards his troops, beginning to shout orders and call upon his men.

The massive Sauron Army began to operate like a war machine. Squads of Sauron Combatant, wielding giant axes and hammers and with ferocious faces, began to advance, and the murderous aura in the air suddenly became thicker!
