With the last garrison decimated by the fierce assault of the Sauron plate armorers, the dilapidated outer walls of Carnford were finally abandoned.

Like a tidal wave, the Sauron soldier cheered as they surged onto the city walls through various breaches and Cloud Ladder, quickly taking control of the defensive line that had once cost them so dearly.

Archers followed closely behind, scaling the city walls and unleashing a hail of arrows on the areas within the walls where sporadic resistance was still present, providing suppressive fire.

At the two massive breaches in the city wall that had been blasted open, the rearguard, after a brief but fierce resistance, also retreated in an orderly fashion towards the inner city under the command of their officers, according to the pre-arranged plan.

"Charge! Kill them all! The Broomflower Barbarians can't hold on any longer!" The first batch of Sauron soldier rushed into the outer city through the breach saw the defenders "retreat," and their anger and bloodlust, which had been suppressed for more than twenty days, erupted instantly!

They howled like wild beasts, brandishing their blood-stained swords, eager to rush into the streets, hunt down the defeated soldiers, loot houses, and vent their pent-up violence.

However, when they actually stepped into the Carnford, they were all stunned, and their momentum stalled.

What they saw before them was completely different from any other city they had ever seen that had been breached! There were no neat streets, no orderly houses, and no civilians fleeing in all directions.

What came into view was a chaotic, maze-like scene!

Because it was an emergency expansion during wartime, Morr completely abandoned aesthetics and planning when designing the outer city, prioritizing practicality and defense above all else.

Numerous semi-subterranean bunkers, warehouses, and workshops, like mushrooms after rain, are densely packed together at varying heights. They are hastily constructed from mud, gravel, and rough wood, and their appearance is simple and strange.

The so-called "roads" are nothing more than narrow, winding gaps that naturally form between buildings, and in many places you even have to squeeze through sideways.

Often, a path that seems like a passageway will turn into a dead end by running into an earthen wall or a deep pit; some roads twist and turn, and the soldiers who rushed ahead excitedly ran for a while, only to find in despair that they had returned to the place they had just passed!

This isn't a city at all; it's clearly a huge, chaotic, and malicious fortress-like maze!

"Damn it! What the hell is this place?" a Sauron Decurion cursed angrily. His squad had just taken the wrong turn at a fork in the road, and after circling around two almost identical mud houses, they were back where they started.

The Sauron soldier ' fervor was quickly replaced by confusion and unease. They crowded into the narrow, unfamiliar streets, bumping around like headless flies, their formation completely scattered, making it difficult for officers to effectively command them.

And just as they were feeling lost and helpless, death quietly arrived!

"Whoosh!"

A stray arrow shot out from the ventilation shaft of some semi-subterranean dwelling, piercing precisely into the throat of a Sauron soldier!

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out from a corner piled with junk, and a lead bullet dented another soldier's helmet, causing him to fall to the ground.

Attacks come from all directions! Those seemingly abandoned, silent, dilapidated houses—every window, every crack in the door, every hole in the roof—could suddenly spew out deadly flames and arrows!

The remaining garrison troops and armed civilians in Carnford, making full use of their familiarity with the terrain, broke into smaller groups and hid in the shadows of the buildings to carry out ruthless and efficient sniping and harassment.

The Sauron soldier at the forefront fell in droves, their deaths shrouded in mystery.

Those behind stopped in terror, trying to find the enemy, but found only a desolate and chaotic ruin. Fear spread like a plague through the Sauron Army.

"There's an ambush!"

"Watch out for a sneak attack!"

"Back to back! Form a defensive circle!"

The officers tried desperately to reorganize their ranks, but to little avail in the chaotic and complex environment.

Sauron army's fierce offensive was like punching a ball of cotton; what was even more terrifying was that this ball of cotton was filled with unseen thorns!

Despite their overwhelming numerical advantage, they were completely unable to maneuver and were forced into urban warfare and guerrilla warfare, which were both their weakest points and what they feared most.

Despite the chaotic layout of the outer city of Carnford and the unpredictable sniping that caused considerable confusion and casualties among the Sauron, Harald's army was, after all, a seasoned and elite force.

After the initial panic and losses, the soldiers quickly recovered from their state of confusion under the reprimands and guidance of junior officers and veterans.

"Don't panic! In teams of ten, clear out each house! Drag out those Goldspur hiding in their rat holes!" The centurions brandished their War Saber, shouting orders at the top of their lungs.

Decurion Olf, a scarred old soldier with a burly, bear-like build, received orders to clear out a dense cluster of semi-subterranean houses on the east side.

He spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, his eyes flashing with ferocity, and growled at his nine men, "Stay close to me! Keep your eyes peeled! Shield bearers in front, spearmen in the middle, archers at the rear! When you come across a door, kick it open and throw a torch in to check! When you come across a corner, peek out first! Let's go!"

His squad immediately changed into a standard urban warfare formation and carefully stepped into a narrow alleyway that could only accommodate one person at a time.

The alleyway was lined with earthen walls nearly two people high and low roofs. It was dimly lit and filled with dust and the smell of blood.

The lead shield bearer gripped his leather-covered Wooden Shield tightly and moved forward step by step.

Just as he passed through an even narrower gap between the two houses.

"Pfft!"

Suddenly, a sharp spear, like a venomous snake, shot out from an inconspicuous hole in the wall on the right, half-hidden by a tattered straw mat!

The thrust was both accurate and ruthless, bypassing the shield in front and piercing the shield bearer's unprotected left rib area!

"Ugh!" The shield bearer let out a shrill scream as the enormous impact slammed him to the left, the spear tip even piercing through his back and pinning him firmly to the earthen wall on his left! Blood instantly soaked through his leather armor.

Olf was right behind him, suddenly narrowed his eyes, a wave of fear washing over him! If he had been the one leading the charge, he probably would have suffered the same fate! But he was, after all, an experienced veteran, and after a moment of shock, his fighting instincts immediately overwhelmed everything!

"Damn it!" Olf roared, not retreating but instead taking a step forward, his left hand flashing out like lightning, grabbing the spear shaft that hadn't yet been pulled back!

He could feel the struggling force coming from the other end of the spear shaft, but it wasn't very strong.
