Finally, with a roar of unwilling rage, Webber relied on his weight advantage and desperate determination to forcefully shove the Sauron soldier over the edge of the battlement! A dull thud and abruptly cut-off scream came from below.
Having dealt with the threat before him, Webber practically crawled back to the battlement once more. He gripped the cold stone with all his strength and looked outside.
Out at sea, several tongues of scorching flame burst once again from the side of the warship that had just fired!
Immediately afterward, more muffled cannon reports came from farther away on the horizon!
Countless black shadows tore through the sky with deadly shrieks, crashing down like hail onto the heads of the Sauron army rampaging across the beach and attempting to push inland!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions rang out one after another. Flames soared across the beach, smoke billowed everywhere, and Sauron soldiers were sent tumbling through the air. Their previously fierce offensive ground to a halt!
Webber's gaze locked tightly onto the warship that had fired first—the one closest to him.
He finally saw the flag snapping in the smoke and sea wind. Its background seemed to be dark blue or deep green, with a striking pattern of spruce branches along the edges. At the center were two gleaming swords crossed together!
That was not the Wolf-Head Flag of the Sauron people! Nor was it the Griffin flag of the Goldflower Kingdom! It was a flag he had never seen before! But there was no doubt that the fierce and precise artillery fire raining down on the Sauron people was friendly, not hostile!
"Reinforcements... Reinforcements!" Webber's cracked lips trembled. He could barely make a sound, only a hoarse rush of air rolling through his throat.
The tremendous shock, the wild joy
