Charge Against Charge
The earth trembled violently under the trampling of hundreds of iron hooves, the roar drowning out all other sounds, like a continuous thunder rolling across the plains.
The mud and broken grass clippings were kicked high by the horses' hooves, forming a murky curtain in the air. The blood-red rays of the setting sun pierced through the dust, staining everything with a tragic and cruel hue.
The two cavalry forces charged toward each other at breakneck speed, rapidly closing the distance between them.
The dense formation compressed every inch of space, eliminating any possibility of trickery or evasion.
At this moment, all the superb horsemanship, the tricky archery, and even the powerful muskets became meaningless.
In the final moment before steel and flesh were about to collide.
The only thing we can rely on is our most primal courage.
The only thing they could do was let out a thunderous roar and immerse their bodies and wills in this desperate charge!
The Golden Fleur-de-lis Lancer pushed their speed to the limit.
The dense forest of four-meter-long, flattened, cold lances, a deadly sight, reflected a chilling glint in the setting sun, inevitably causing a slight wavering within the Sauron Cavalry ranks.
Some warhorses sensed the terrifying killing intent rushing towards them and the horrifying aura of their kind gathering together. They instinctively let out terrified neighs and began to uncontrollably try to deviate from the charging route, which could not be completely stopped by the shouts and whips of their riders.
Fifty meters! That's a distance that passes in the blink of an eye; both sides have reached their peak speed!
Lyon felt as if his blood was on fire. He gripped the heavy lance tightly, his arm trembling slightly from the excessive force.
His gaze was fixed on an exceptionally fierce Sauron Cavalry directly in front of him. The man wore leather armor studded with copper, wielded a heavy broadsword, and had a ferocious face covered in scars. He was roaring defiantly at him and looked like a junior officer.
Lyon's mind went blank. All tactics and considerations were thrown to the winds, leaving only the purest instinct to charge and the desire to kill the enemy.
"Kill--!!!"
The soldiers at the front of both sides roared almost simultaneously, their shouts even briefly drowning out the thunderous sound of horses' hooves!
The next moment, the two torrents of steel collided violently and without any frills!
In an instant, men and horses were thrown into chaos!
The terrifying sounds of impacts, the sharp crack of lances breaking, the grating scraping of metal against armor, the muffled thud of bones shattering, the mournful neighing of warhorses before their death, and the agonizing screams of dying humans...
Countless chilling sounds erupted instantly.
The scene in the front row was like hell.
Unable to avoid the collision, the warhorses crashed head-on, the immense kinetic energy instantly snapping their necks and shattering their skulls.
Armed with lances, the Broomflower soldiers, relying on their length and sheer numbers, often managed to strike their enemies first. However, the immense recoil caused their arms to tremble violently, instantly snapping countless expensive hardwood lance shafts.
Those Sauron Cavalry who were pierced by the spears were either lucky enough to be thrown off their horses, or unlucky enough to have their chests or abdomens pierced by the high-speed impact of the spear tip, and were thrown off their saddles like rag dolls!
Lyon only had eyes for the Sauron Army with the knife.
In the final instant of their collision, he let out a beastly roar, channeling all his strength into his arm, and thrust his lance forward with tremendous force!
An unimaginable force surged through his hand, instantly splitting his thumb and forefinger, drawing blood. Yet, he did not drop the lance, and the tip of the lance undoubtedly pierced the target!
"Ugh--!" A piercing scream rang out almost simultaneously.
Lyon could even clearly feel the terrifying sensation of the gun tip tearing through leather and piercing flesh.
Immediately afterwards, with a crisp "crack," the lance in his hand snapped off at the front third.
The ferocity on the face of the fierce Sauron Army instantly turned into pain and disbelief. He was thrown backward by the enormous impact and crashed heavily among the chaotic hooves of horses, his fate unknown.
Before Lyon could even catch his breath, he caught a glimpse of a dark shadow hurtling towards his face with a whooshing sound.
It was a heavy spiked mace!
Without even having time to think, Lyon instinctively ducked his head!
"Bang!"
A dull thud exploded above his head, making his eardrums ring. He felt a sudden lightness on his head as his exquisite commander's helmet was smashed off and flew away, landing somewhere unknown.
Cold sweat instantly soaked his back. If he had been even a fraction of a second slower, it wouldn't have been the helmet that shattered, but his head.
The Sauron Cavalry who launched the sneak attack didn't get a second chance.
The high-speed torrent of charges instantly scattered them; in just one exchange, the front ranks of the two sides' cavalry had already pierced through each other by twenty or thirty meters.
The first round of the most brutal collisions has temporarily come to an end.
The Broomflower faction clearly had the upper hand. The sharp spearheads of the thirty-odd carefully selected and well-equipped cuirassiers, amplified by the power of their group charge, easily tore through the hastily assembled front line of the Sauron.
In this single engagement, more than twenty Sauron Cavalry were lanced and fell from their horses, either dead or seriously wounded.
But this was only the beginning of a bloody cavalry battle.
Following closely behind, even larger numbers of saber-wielding cavalry from both sides clashed head-on like two turbid currents; the real melee and carnage had only just begun!
Having lost their speed advantage, the cavalrymen became entangled in a fierce battle, with swords flashing and blood and flesh flying everywhere. Every moment, someone screamed and fell from their horse.
