Arc 24The Western Scripture Journey
Duobao established Mahayana Buddhism as Zhou Ming strengthened the Witch Clan and freed it from the Heavenly Dao’s control. The powers then negotiated Buddhism’s eastward spread and finalized a plan for a scripture-seeking journey with 108 tribulations.
- Haotian appointed Bian Zhuang Marshal Tianpeng, and Bian Zhuang reported to Taishang Laojun before taking up his post.
- Saint Taiqing gave Duobao the Four Swords of Zhu Xian and led him west, where Duobao joined the Western Teachings and eventually established Mahayana Buddhism as Tathagata, Buddha of the Present.
- Zhou Ming broke through to Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal, helped the Ancestral Witches advance, severed the Witch Clan’s karmic ties to the Primordial Wilderness, and moved its people to the Pangu Realm.
- Jieyin and Zhunti sought Zhou Ming’s permission for Western Prosperity, and he agreed that the Witch Clan would not interfere as long as it was left alone.
- Hongyun agreed that the Human Race would support Buddhism’s eastward spread but forbade harm to its people and pressed for the Human Race to receive a share of the merit.
- Jieyin and Zhunti gathered the powers at the Heavenly Court, where they agreed to a scripture-seeking journey with Bian Zhuang, General Rolling Curtain, a Witch Clan protector, and a Dragon Clan mount among its participants.
- Zhunti and Jieyin decided to increase the journey from eighty-one to 108 tribulations, and Tathagata negotiated the factions’ roles and merit shares before receiving approval to begin preparations.
