Chapters 51–75 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 51The Role of the Hongmeng Purple Qi

Wu Ming explained that the six Hongmeng Purple Qi could not be comprehended until each recipient’s opportunity to become a Sage arrived, and that they should cultivate while awaiting it. The six left reassured about their destined Saint positions, while Wu Ming decided to find the Demon Clan an opponent for the sake of balance and the Witch Clan.

  • Nuwa handed Wu Ming the Creation Cauldron, and he told the six that the Hongmeng Purple Qi could not yet be comprehended.
  • Yuanshi, Taiqing, Tongtian, Nuwa, Jieyin, and Zhunti reacted with anger and suspicion until Wu Ming explained that their time to become Sages had not arrived.
  • Wu Ming said the six were ordained by Heaven to become Sages and that the Hongmeng Purple Qi would guide each of them when their opportunity came.
  • Wu Ming advised the six to focus on cultivation and reassured them that the Demon Clan would not dare seize their Saint positions while Hongjun Dao Ancestor stood behind them.
  • The six accepted Wu Ming’s explanation and left Buzhou Mountain with mixed feelings.
  • Wu Ming watched them depart and decided to find the Demon Clan an opponent to preserve balance in the Primordial Wilderness and protect the Witch Clan.

Ch. 52Six Sages Form an Alliance

The six holders of Hongmeng Purple Qi feared the Demon Clan, the Witch Clan, and other threats before they attained sainthood. They formed a temporary alliance to support one another until all six became Sages.

  • Tongtian, Nuwa, and Jieyin agreed to join, and Taiqing declared the six an Offensive and Defensive Alliance.

Ch. 53Wu Ming Visits East Prince Gong

Wu Ming visited East Prince Gong on Penglai Immortal Island to warn him that the Demon Clan was devising the Great Formation of the Stars and to claim the Witch Clan would defeat them. East Prince Gong doubted Wu Ming’s motives and ended by asking whether the Witch Clan planned to make the Immortal Court submit after the war.

  • East Prince Gong described the Demon Clan’s growing power and suspected Di Jun and Taiyi were preparing to dominate the Primordial Wilderness.

  • Wu Ming said he had come to save East Prince Gong’s life, but East Prince Gong rejected his warning and questioned why the Witch Clan was not preparing for war.
  • Wu Ming asserted that the Witch Clan had made preparations and would certainly defeat the Demon Clan, prompting East Prince Gong to suspect he intended to demand the Immortal Court’s allegiance.

Ch. 54A Friend's Death Is Better Than a Daoist's Own

Wu Ming warned East Prince Gong that the Demon Clan would target the Immortal Court and urged him to strengthen it against the Great Formation of the Stars. He proposed recruiting elite dragons as Guardian Divine Beasts, leaving East Prince Gong to weigh the risks of the Dragon Clan’s Karma against the benefits of its strength and support.

  • Wu Ming explained that the Demon Clan would likely attack the Immortal Court after avoiding a decisive war with the Witch Clan.
  • East Prince Gong recognized the danger and questioned why Wu Ming would not destroy the Demon Clan himself.
  • Wu Ming urged East Prince Gong to recruit more people but proposed the Dragon Clan when East Prince Gong objected to starting a war.
  • East Prince Gong feared that the Dragon Clan’s Karma would burden the Immortal Court, so Wu Ming suggested recruiting only elite dragons as Guardian Divine Beasts.
  • Wu Ming assured East Prince Gong that the Dragon Clan would agree because Immortal Court Destiny could help its elites advance, and East Prince Gong fell silent over the risky proposal.

Ch. 55East Prince Gong Visits the Dragon Clan

After Wu Ming warned East Prince Gong about the dangers facing the Immortal Court, East Prince Gong decided to seek an alliance with the Dragon Clan. At the East Sea Dragon Palace, he met the surviving Quasi-Saint Candle Dragon and prepared to explain his proposal.

  • Wu Ming urged East Prince Gong to counter the Great Formation of the Stars and left him to decide whether to absorb the Dragon Clan into the Immortal Court.
  • East Prince Gong chose to take the risk and traveled to the East Sea Dragon Palace to discuss the matter with the Dragon Clan.

  • Ao Hai summoned Candle Dragon, whose unexpected survival and Quasi-Saint cultivation shocked East Prince Gong.
  • East Prince Gong greeted Candle Dragon and resolved to state his purpose directly.

Ch. 56Inviting the Dragon Clan

East Prince Gong tried to recruit some of the Dragon Clan’s elite as Guardian Divine Beasts, offering them the Immortal Court’s Destiny to ease their karmic burden. • East Prince Gong invited part of the Dragon Clan’s elite to join the Immortal Court as Guardian Divine Beasts, and Ao Hai angrily objected.
  • East Prince Gong promised that the Immortal Court’s Destiny could help the Dragon Clan’s elites overcome the cultivation burdens caused by Karma.
  • Candle Dragon suspected East Prince Gong wanted the Dragon Clan as a vanguard, but East Prince Gong said the Witch Clan would win its war with the Demon Clan and that he wanted an alliance against the Demon Clan.
  • East Prince Gong said Wu Ming had warned him that the Demon Clan was developing the Great Formation of the Stars, a formation with power that might rival a Sage.
  • Candle Dragon questioned whether the Dragon Clan could trust the Immortal Court and how it would resist the Demon Clan’s formation, and East Prince Gong hinted that the Immortal Court had a competing formation without naming it.

Ch. 57Dragon Clan's Conditions

Candle Dragon agreed to send Dragon Clan elites to the Immortal Court after East Prince Gong accepted conditions protecting their status, cultivation benefits, right to withdraw, and refusal to join wars of aggression. Candle Dragon then revealed the elders were nearing the end of their lives and ordered Ao Hai to give up his position as Dragon King and go cultivate at the Immortal Court to prepare to lead the clan.

  • Candle Dragon set four conditions for Dragon Clan elites joining the Immortal Court, and East Prince Gong accepted them.
  • Candle Dragon agreed to the alliance but said the clan's elders still had to decide which and how many Dragon Clan members would go.
  • After East Prince Gong departed, Ao Hai questioned whether the Dragon Clan should join the Immortal Court, and Candle Dragon revealed the elders' injuries and Destiny backlash had nearly exhausted their Origin.
  • Candle Dragon told Ao Hai to step down as East Sea Dragon King and join the Immortal Court to focus on cultivation.
  • Ao Hai accepted Candle Dragon's decision and promised not to fail his trust.

Ch. 58Dragon Clan Enters the Immortal Court

Candle Dragon brought forty-nine Dragon Clan elites to join the Immortal Court, but first demanded assurance that it could withstand the Demon Clan's Great Formation of the Stars. • East Prince Gong welcomed Candle Dragon and the Dragon Clan elites to Penglai Immortal Island.

  • East Prince Gong granted the Dragon Clan elites the Immortal Court's Destiny, which weakened their Karma and eased some of their cultivation bottlenecks.
  • East Prince Gong sensed that the Dragon Clan's arrival strengthened the Immortal Court's Destiny, and Candle Dragon returned to the East Sea after discussing arrangements for the elites.

Ch. 59The Great Formation of the Stars Completed

After ten thousand years of seclusion, Di Jun and Fuxi completed the Great Formation of the Stars, preparing the Demon Clan to challenge the Witch Clan and dominate the Primordial Wilderness. Di Jun ordered the formation to be practiced and tasked Tai Yi with choosing its banner bearers and binding their spirits to the Monster Summoning Banner.

  • Di Jun and Fuxi announced that they had deduced the Great Formation of the Stars, which could combine the strength of Demon Clan warriors and contend even with Sages.
  • Tai Yi and the Demon Clan’s leaders urged Di Jun to launch an immediate campaign, but Di Jun ordered the clans to assemble at the Heavenly Court to practice the formation first.
  • Di Jun revealed that he and Fuxi had also refined all 365 Great Zhou Heavenly Star Banners and 14,800 Lesser Zhou Heavenly Star Banners.
  • Di Jun tasked Tai Yi with selecting trustworthy Demon Clan members of at least the Grand Unity Golden Immortal level to wield the banners.
  • Di Jun gave Tai Yi the Monster Summoning Banner and ordered him to bind each banner bearer by suppressing a strand of their Innate Primordial Spirit within it.
  • Tai Yi agreed to the plan, took the Monster Summoning Banner, and left to select the banner bearers.

Ch. 60The Storm Was Brewing

As the Demon Clan gathered for war, Wu Ming explained to the Twelve Ancestral Witches that the Heavenly Dao was their true enemy and the Demon Clan its pawn. He warned them to preserve their strength and ordered the Witch Clan warriors to gather at Buzhou Mountain as battle approached.

  • The Demon Clan assembled at the Heavenly Court, prompting factions across the Primordial Wilderness to prepare for possible conflict.
  • Dijiang and Zhurong urged Wu Ming to attack the Demon Clan first, but he said he had let them grow so the Witch Clan could use them to demonstrate its strength.
  • Wu Ming revealed that the Heavenly Dao sought to weaken Pangu's legacy and was using the Demon Clan to wear down the Witch Clan through a great tribulation.
  • Wu Ming explained that the Three Pure Ones had become useful to the Heavenly Dao by joining Hongjun's faction, while the Witch Clan remained a threat because of its ties to Pangu.
  • Wu Ming warned the Twelve Ancestral Witches that their survival was essential to the Thirteen Heavenly Gods and Fiends Array, and they promised to act cautiously.
  • Wu Ming ordered the scattered Witch Clan warriors to return to Buzhou Mountain and gather in Pangu Hall as the great battle neared.

Ch. 61Impossible, Absolutely Impossible

Nuwa warned Fuxi that the Demon Clan was likely to lose its coming war with the Witch Clan, but he trusted the Great Formation of the Stars and refused to withdraw. She explained that Wu Ming had revealed the six bearers of Hongmeng Purple Qi would attain sainthood only when their destined opportunity arrived, then began to tell Fuxi how Wu Ming reacted after learning the Demon Clan was deducing its formation.

  • Nuwa urged Fuxi to stay out of the battle between the Witch and Demon Clans, but he insisted the Demon Clan would win with the Great Formation of the Stars.
  • Nuwa told Fuxi that she and the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, and Zhunti had failed to comprehend the Hongmeng Purple Qi even after a thousand years together.
  • Nuwa revealed that Wu Ming had said the six of them were destined to become Saints, but their opportunity had not yet arrived.
  • Fuxi questioned Wu Ming's claim, and Nuwa argued that he had no reason to deceive them.
  • Nuwa admitted she had told the Three Pure Ones that the Demon Clan was deducing the Great Formation of the Stars, and said Wu Ming had discovered this.
  • Nuwa asked Fuxi whether he knew how Wu Ming had reacted to the news.

Ch. 62Nuwa's Decision

Nuwa warned Fuxi that the Witch Clan likely had a way to defeat the Demon Clan and urged him to stay out of the war, but Fuxi explained that serving in the Heavenly Court would help protect her Hongmeng Purple Qi if the Demon Clan lost. After Fuxi departed, Nuwa decided to visit Buzhou Mountain and seek Wu Ming's promise to spare her brother.

  • Nuwa reasoned that the Witch Clan's calm response to the Demon Clan's formation suggested it could counter the Great Formation of the Stars and might not seek to rule the Primordial Wilderness.
  • Fuxi said the Witch-Demon War was inevitable and insisted on participating because Di Jun and Taiyi might target Nuwa's Hongmeng Purple Qi if the Demon Clan lost.
  • Fuxi argued that Nuwa's alliance with the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, and Zhunti might not protect her if Di Jun and Taiyi threatened them with the Great Formation of the Stars.
  • Nuwa accepted that Fuxi had to go and decided to visit Buzhou Mountain to obtain Wu Ming's promise to protect him during the war.
  • Fuxi left for the Heavenly Court, while Nuwa vowed not to let anything happen to him.

Ch. 63Zhen Yuanzi and Hong Yun Aid the Witch Clan

  • Nuwa told Wu Ming that Fuxi had been forced to join the Witch-Demon War and asked him to spare her brother's life.

Ch. 65The Conditions Set by Wu Ming

Nuwa asked Wu Ming to spare her brother Fuxi during the Witch-Demon War, and Wu Ming agreed in exchange for three favors after she became a Saint. After Nuwa left, Wu Ming explained to Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi that the promise’s future timing made it far more valuable than it seemed.

  • Nuwa asked Wu Ming to protect Fuxi during the war and offered to accept any condition in return.
  • Wu Ming required Nuwa to fulfill three things for the Witch Clan after she became a Saint, and Nuwa readily agreed.
  • Wu Ming promised that the Witch Clan would spare Fuxi during the war, and Nuwa left Pangu Hall relieved.
  • Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi questioned Wu Ming’s bargain, and he explained that the three future favors were more valuable than Fuxi’s life to the Witch Clan.
  • Wu Ming changed the subject, and the three resumed drinking tea.

Ch. 66Witch-Demon War Begins

Di Jun launched the Demon Clan’s army against the Witch Clan at Buzhou Mountain, where Wu Ming proposed settling the conflict through an array battle. The Demon Clan formed the Great Formation of the Stars, but Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches summoned Pangu’s True Body, prompting Hongjun to rush from Zixiao Palace in alarm.

  • Di Jun ordered the Demon Clan army to march on Buzhou Mountain, and powerful figures from across the Primordial Wilderness gathered to watch.
  • Wu Ming proposed an array battle to Di Jun, who accepted and ordered Taiyi to deploy the Great Formation of the Stars.
  • Taiyi led the Demon Clan warriors in forming the star array, drawing power from the stars throughout the heavens.
  • Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches formed the Thirteen Heavenly Gods and Fiends Array, summoning Pangu’s True Body with Pangu Hall at its heart.
  • The Three Pure Ones and other observers were shocked by Pangu’s appearance, while Di Jun and Taiyi faced the Witch Clan’s unexpected trump card.
  • Hongjun saw Pangu’s True Body and Pangu Hall, then abruptly left Zixiao Palace and hurried toward the battlefield.

Ch. 67Zhou Tian Star Battle Array VS Thirteen Heavenly Gods and Fiends Array

Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches nearly shattered the Demon Clan’s Great Formation of the Stars with Pangu’s True Body, but a surge of Starlight Force from the Nine Heavens restored and strengthened the array. Di Jun celebrated Heaven’s apparent support, while Wu Ming declared the Demon Clan would still lose and called for the axe.

  • Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches struck the Great Formation of the Stars, leaving it close to collapse and injuring the demons sustaining it.
  • The onlooking Primordial Wilderness powers reacted with shock as Di Jun and Taiyi feared one more axe strike would break their array.
  • Wu Ming raised the Sky-Opening Axe for a second strike, but the stars poured powerful Starlight Force into the Demon Clan’s array and stabilized it.
  • Di Jun proclaimed that Heaven’s Will favored the Demon Clan and demanded the Witch Clan surrender, while the onlookers debated Heavenly Dao’s intervention.
  • Wu Ming dismissed Di Jun’s confidence, insisted the Demon Clan was destined to lose, and shouted, “Bring me the axe!”

Ch. 68Hongjun Appears

Wu Ming used the Taiji Diagram and Pangu Banner to empower the Sky-Opening Axe, broke the Great Formation of the Stars, and seized Taiyi’s Chaos Bell. Just as he moved to kill Di Jun and Taiyi, Hongjun appeared, stopped the strike, and demanded Wu Ming leave the Primordial Wilderness until the Tribulation ended in exchange for sparing the Witch Clan.

  • Wu Ming combined the Taiji Diagram and Pangu Banner with the Sky-Opening Axe, shocking the Three Pure Ones and the other watching Saints.
  • Wu Ming’s empowered axe shattered the Great Formation of the Stars, leaving Di Jun and Taiyi gravely wounded and the Demon Clan defeated.
  • Wu Ming used Pangu’s True Body to seize Taiyi’s Chaos Bell and suppress it in Pangu Hall.
  • Wu Ming raised the axe to kill Di Jun and Taiyi, but Hongjun appeared and dispelled the attack.
  • Hongjun offered to spare the Witch Clan if Wu Ming returned with him to Zixiao Palace and stayed out of the Primordial Wilderness until the Tribulation ended.

Ch. 69Daoist Friend, Assist Me

Wu Ming refused Hongjun’s demand to return to Zixiao Palace and fought him with Pangu’s True Body, but the Witch Clan’s array was defeated. Wu Ming rejected Hongjun’s final offer and called to Pangu Hall for aid.

  • The Twelve Ancestor Witches protested Hongjun’s demand, while Wu Ming offered to keep the Witch Clan out of the Tribulation if Hongjun left them alone.
  • Hongjun insisted that the Witch Clan had to undergo its calamity, so Wu Ming attacked him with Pangu’s True Body and the Sky-Opening Axe.
  • Hongjun’s Dao laws overcame the array, leaving Pangu’s True Body weakened and Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches injured.
  • Hongjun revealed that Wu Ming had inherited Pangu’s Law of Strength and was only at the mid-stage of the Primordial Golden Immortal realm.
  • Hongjun gave Wu Ming one last chance to go to Zixiao Palace, but Wu Ming refused and called to Pangu Hall for assistance.

Ch. 70Dao Ancestor, Come and Fight

Zhou Ming emerged from Pangu Hall and revealed that Wu Ming was his avatar, then absorbed him and strengthened Pangu’s True Body with the Chaos Bell. He challenged Hongjun to fight over whether the Witch-Demon Tribulation and the Heavenly Dao’s grand trend could be changed.

  • Zhou Ming appeared from Pangu Hall holding the Chaos Bell, and the Twelve Ancestor Witches greeted him as their elder brother.
  • Hongjun recognized Zhou Ming’s extraordinary roots and fortune but said that attaining Hunyuan under the established Heavenly Dao would be difficult.
  • Zhou Ming asked Hongjun to accept the Witch Clan’s conditions, but Hongjun said Zhou Ming and Pangu’s True Body were still not strong enough.
  • Wu Ming merged back into Zhou Ming, raising his cultivation to the peak of the Hunyuan Golden Immortal Realm, and Zhou Ming took control of Pangu’s True Body.
  • Zhou Ming fused the Chaos Bell into the Sky-Opening Axe, greatly increasing Pangu’s True Body’s might.
  • Hongjun declared that the Witch-Demon Tribulation and the Heavenly Dao’s grand trend could not be changed, and Zhou Ming challenged him to fight.

Ch. 71Heavenly Dao: Fellow Daoist, Let's Talk This Out—Don't Be Impulsive

Zhou Ming defeated Hongjun, but the Heavenly Dao still demanded that the Witch Clan enter the Tribulation of Witch and Demon. Zhou Ming summoned Pangu’s Will into Pangu’s True Body, leaving the Heavenly Dao’s Hongjun frightened and pleading to talk.

  • Zhou Ming’s Pangu’s True Body defeated Hongjun in battle, and Zhou Ming repeated the Witch Clan’s demand to stay out of the Tribulation.
  • Hongjun said the Witch Clan’s fate was fixed by the Heavenly Dao, then the Heavenly Dao descended through him and offered to spare the clan if Zhou Ming imprisoned himself in Zixiao Palace.
  • The Heavenly Dao’s Hongjun threatened to capture Zhou Ming, so Zhou Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches bowed toward Buzhou Mountain and called for Father God’s Will.
  • Pangu’s Will awakened within Buzhou Mountain and merged with Pangu’s True Body, which grew more powerful and gained Pangu’s supreme will.
  • The Heavenly Dao’s Hongjun reacted with fear and begged Zhou Ming to send Pangu’s Will back and discuss the matter.

Ch. 72Heavenly Dao Flees, Father God's Instructions

Pangu's Will severely wounded the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun, forcing them to flee, then addressed the gathered experts before fading from Pangu's True Body. He left Zhou Ming and the Witch Clan with instructions to prepare for the Heavenly Dao's return and gave the Three Pure Ones an ambiguous warning.

  • The Heavenly Dao tried to flee with Hongjun, but Pangu's Will bound them together and struck them with the Sky-Opening Axe, badly injuring both and damaging the Jade Disc of Creation.
  • The Heavenly Dao wrapped itself around the wounded Hongjun and escaped into Chaos, while Pangu's Will chose not to pursue them.
  • The gathered experts, including Zhen Yuanzi, Hong Yun, Minghe, and the Three Pure Ones, bowed to Pangu, who told them to rise.
  • Pangu's Will said the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun would need one Yuanhui to recover and urged Zhou Ming and the Twelve Ancestor Witches to cultivate and reach Hunyuan.
  • Pangu praised Zhou Ming, entrusted him with the Witch Clan, and told the Three Pure Ones to take care of themselves.
  • Pangu's Will faded from Pangu's True Body and returned to the depths of Buzhou Mountain as the experts bid him farewell.

Ch. 73After the War

After forcing back Hongjun and the Heavenly Dao, Zhou Ming declared that the Witch Clan would not rule the Primordial Wilderness but warned others not to scheme against it. He spared Di Jun and Taiyi while claiming the Chaos Bell, then returned to Pangu Hall with the Twelve Ancestor Witches to discuss what came next.

  • Zhou Ming told the gathered mighty figures that the Witch Clan sought peace and would not rule, but threatened an irreconcilable struggle against anyone who plotted against it.
  • Zhou Ming returned the Taiji Diagram and Pangu Banner to Taiqing and Yuanshi, who accepted them with strained composure.
  • Zhou Ming spared Di Jun and Taiyi but took the Chaos Bell for the Witch Clan and ordered it suppressed in Pangu Hall.
  • Nuwa departed with Fuxi, while Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi left after Zhou Ming promised to visit them.
  • Di Jun and Taiyi fled with the Demon Clan remnants, and Zhou Ming told Zhurong and Gonggong that keeping them alive would be more useful than killing them before leading the Ancestral Witches back to Pangu Hall.

Ch. 74Zhou Ming Talks About the Tribulation

In Pangu Hall, Zhou Ming explained to the Ancestor Witches why the Witch Clan must stay out of the Tribulation and avoid exterminating the Demon Clan. He began explaining why he had demanded Hongjun’s personal agreement, leaving that answer unfinished.

  • Dijiang asked Zhou Ming why he had insisted that the Witch Clan avoid the Tribulation and made Hongjun agree to it.
  • Zhurong, Gonggong, and the other Ancestor Witches urged Zhou Ming to destroy the Demon Clan and kill Di Jun and Taiyi.
  • Zhou Ming explained that Tribulations produced Karma through slaughter and destruction, which could ruin even powerful clans, as had happened to the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans.
  • Zhou Ming warned that exterminating the Demon Clan would burden the Witch Clan with immense Karma and go against Pangu’s purpose for the Primordial Wilderness.
  • Zhou Ming said killing Di Jun and Taiyi would not stop the Heavenly Dao from creating new Persons of Destiny and a new Demon Clan, and that the surviving leaders might be useful later.
  • Zhou Ming began explaining that he had demanded Hongjun’s agreement because Hongjun represented the Heavenly Dao in the Primordial Wilderness.

Ch. 75What a Genius You Are

Zhou Ming explained why the Witch Clan could not simply avoid the Witch-Demon Tribulation and urged the Ancestral Witches to cultivate before the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun recovered. Zhurong proposed killing the future Sages, and Zhou Ming sarcastically called him a genius.

  • Zhou Ming told the Ancestral Witches that the Witch Clan was already caught up in the Tribulation and needed the Heavenly Dao's promise to escape its schemes and Karma.
  • Zhou Ming warned that the Witch Clan depended on the Thirteen Heavenly Gods and Fiends Array and Pangu's will, and urged them to cultivate toward Hunyuan.
  • Houtu asked how Zhou Ming had summoned Father God's will, and Zhou Ming claimed his years of communication and filial piety had earned Father God's help.
  • Zhou Ming warned that the Witch Clan had caught the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun by surprise and needed to grow stronger before they recovered and the six future Sages rose.
  • Zhurong proposed killing the six future Sages before they became powerful, and the other Ancestral Witches agreed.
  • Zhou Ming sarcastically called Zhurong a genius, but Zhurong mistook the remark for praise.
