Background / History
The Ghost Doctor described his childhood as ordinary, but later stated that he witnessed his parents die during the Taoyuan Town Massacre. That experience convinced him that life was fragile and that only strength and immortality had lasting value. Investigation linked his possession of the Heaven Communicating Talisman Art to the massacre, though its origin remained uncertain. 235 237
While alive, he was among the earliest overseas students and returned with advanced Western medical knowledge. He claimed he could have become a renowned doctor and was once nearly a marshal's son-in-law, but rejected status, wealth, and beauty as meaningless beside immortality. 237 250
He committed murders alongside the Human Body Collector, whose own obsession was creating beautiful women. Foreseeing that his crimes would eventually be exposed, the Ghost Doctor deceived his partner into spending a century collecting rare alchemical materials for him. Both became Fierce Ghosts after death, but the Ghost Doctor was suppressed while the Human Body Collector continued gathering materials in the human world. 246 249
After being released, the Ghost Doctor actively sought an agreement with the mastermind rather than serving as her puppet. He was permitted to act with unusual freedom as long as he continued killing people, while he pursued the ingredients needed to refine the Ascension Pill. 222
Appearance
The Ghost Doctor is usually concealed by a faint green poisonous mist that makes his face difficult to distinguish. His presence is often marked by green light, distorted air, and the lingering smell or effects of poison. 219 222
- Carries a scalpel for close-range killing and organ extraction. 222
- His poisonous mist follows him as he moves and can remain dangerous after he leaves an area. 220
- Can merge into his own mist, becoming difficult to see within it. 242
- His body can visibly repair itself through swirling green mist after severe injury. 243
Personality
The Ghost Doctor is ruthlessly self-serving and takes open pleasure in murder. He rejects the possibility of reform, insisting that his atrocities are deliberate rather than compelled and that killing brings him satisfaction. 222
His pursuit of immortality overrides every other concern. He treats human beings as alchemical materials, considers wealth and beauty transient, and is willing to sacrifice countless lives for the Ascension Pill. 237 250
He is also calculating and deceitful. He maintained a century-long scheme against the Human Body Collector, negotiated temporary truces when Liang Fan became dangerous, and recruited other hunting-ground masters when direct confrontation became unfavorable. 250 273 349 His confidence eventually broke after repeated deaths from Heavenly Lightning and again when Liang Fan surpassed him through the Immortal Slaying Pill. 319 381
Abilities & Skills
Poisonous Mist and Toxins
The Ghost Doctor constantly emits green poisonous mist and is proficient with numerous poisons.
- The mist causes coughing, pain, suffocation, and collapse; a large cloud can incapacitate victims almost immediately. 216 223 224
- He throws pills that burst into highly toxic fog. 223 224
- He can conceal himself within the mist, making him nearly impossible to see in its densest areas. 242
- The mist can reveal the outline of an otherwise invisible target, limiting the effectiveness of Liang Fan's Invisibility Talisman. 242
- Gas masks can temporarily protect victims, while Heavenly Lightning can disperse the poisonous gas. 220 317
Speed and Close-Quarters Combat
His movement speed is among his most dangerous traits, allowing him to seize victims before they can flee.
- He can cross open ground and enter buildings in moments, often appearing as a flickering green figure. 219 334
- Uses his scalpel and bare hands to kill, dismember, and extract organs. 220 222
- Possesses formidable mental-combat ability in addition to his physical speed. 220
- Cannot fly and is hindered for a period after falling from great heights. 223
- His ability to locate well-hidden targets is comparatively poor; he repeatedly passed Liang Fan's hiding place without detecting him. 220
Alchemy
The Ghost Doctor's killings are driven by his alchemical pursuit of the Ascension Pill.
- Uses the Eight Trigrams Furnace to refine elixirs from human organs. 219 220
- Usually kills men immediately while taking women alive to extract their organs for the furnace. 220
- Consumed materials gathered over a century by the Human Body Collector to produce the Ascension Pill. 272 378
- Refined and consumed the Ascension Pill, but later sought the even more powerful Immortal Slaying Pill. 376 379
Resurrection and Immortal Body
Within the Abandoned School, the Ghost Doctor could recover from otherwise fatal damage.
- Regenerated after falling from a rooftop and repaired his body through green mist. 243
- Could survive repeated destruction by Heavenly Lightning, but his resurrection time increased as his body weakened. 306 319
- His immortality was conditional: outside the Abandoned School, he lost the protection sustaining his body. 384
Ascension Pill Enhancement
After consuming the Ascension Pill, the Ghost Doctor briefly reached a vastly stronger state.
- Broke the God-Ghost Contract despite previously being unable to attack Liang Fan under its terms. 376
- Could severely wound Liang Fan with a glance and overwhelm Li Tongtian's intervention. 376 377
- Absorbed Heavenly Lightning during the Immortal Slaying Pill's tribulation and became immune to lightning. 379
- Despite these gains, he was completely outmatched by Liang Fan after Liang Fan consumed the Immortal Slaying Pill. 381 382
Equipment / Weapons / Items

- The mastermind — cooperative partner who released him and allowed his killings under their agreement. She also assisted him against the Human Body Collector, though the Ghost Doctor later claimed she forced him to break his pact with Liang Fan. 222 273 302

Story Role / Major Arcs
Abandoned School Hunt
After defeating the Butcher and taking his place, the Ghost Doctor became one of the Abandoned School's most dangerous hunters. He slaughtered entrants, fed female victims' organs into the Eight Trigrams Furnace, and pursued the Ascension Pill through mass murder. 212 219 220
He initially regarded Liang Fan as another obstacle, but Liang Fan's evasive abilities, Soul Summoning Bell, and Invisibility Talisman made him cautious. The Ghost Doctor could not fly, struggled to locate invisible targets, and was temporarily hindered by falls, allowing Liang Fan to repeatedly escape. 223 242
Pact, Betrayal, and Heavenly Lightning
Recognizing Liang Fan as a genuine threat, the Ghost Doctor proposed a contract: he would spare Liang Fan and fifty named people if Liang Fan stopped interfering with his alchemy. He later broke the agreement, claiming pressure from the mastermind, and resumed targeting others. 250 302
Liang Fan acquired the Heavenly Lightning Talisman and repeatedly hunted the Ghost Doctor. Though he could resurrect, successive lightning strikes weakened his body and left him terrified of Liang Fan. 317 319 326
Human Body Collector's Death
The Ghost Doctor reunited with the Human Body Collector after a century and accepted the rare plants the latter had collected. He immediately betrayed him, subdued the Ghost Beauty, extracted the remaining materials through force, and killed his former partner. 272 273
Ascension Pill and Death
When the Ascension Pill was refined, the Ghost Doctor entered a God-Ghost Contract to become Liang Fan's servant for twenty years. Once he consumed the pill, however, his increased strength let him break the contract and turn on Liang Fan. 376
He later absorbed Heavenly Lightning while defending the Immortal Slaying Pill, becoming immune to lightning. Liang Fan used the Ghost Doctor's greed to complete the pill's refinement, consumed it himself, and overwhelmed the Ghost Doctor despite the latter's Ascension Pill-enhanced body. 379 381 382
Liang Fan finally dragged the Ghost Doctor outside the Abandoned School. There, the Ghost Doctor revealed that his immortal body would disappear beyond the school's boundary; Liang Fan killed him anyway, causing his body to vanish completely. 384
