Giant Frog Attacks (1)

Hearing Wei Dengke's shout, Mo Li rolled his eyes. He suddenly found Wei Dengke's personality a bit childish. This place was so vast; shouting randomly wouldn't make it easy to find Zhong Lichun, as if it were that simple.

However, what happened next made Mo Li's jaw drop. Not long after Wei Dengke finished shouting, Zhong Lichun's voice came from their right: "Don't come over! It's dangerous!"

Upon hearing Zhong Lichun's cry, both Mo Li and Wei Dengke's expressions froze. Zhong Lichun's voice was trembling. Knowing Zhong Lichun's strong personality, for her to make such a fearful sound, what kind of danger must she have encountered?

Although Zhong Lichun told them not to come, their purpose for being here was to find her, so how could they not go? Mo Li glanced at Wei Dengke, then said seriously, "You wait here, I'll go check the situation."

"Wait here? If there's really danger, it's the same everywhere. Let's go together. If something happens, we can look out for each other," Wei Dengke shook his head and requested earnestly.

Wei Dengke's words were indeed not wrong. This place was too strange, and there could be hidden dangers. Wei Dengke had almost no combat ability. Leaving him here if danger arose would mean Mo Li would have to come back to save him. After a moment's thought, Mo Li nodded and said, "Alright, you follow behind me. Be careful."

After saying this, Mo Li walked towards the direction where Zhong Lichun's voice had come from, and Wei Dengke followed closely. Mo Li didn't notice that Wei Dengke had taken something that looked like a pen from his lanyard and gripped it in his hand.

This underground world was filled with numerous spherical fungi of varying sizes, some as large as ten meters in diameter, others as small as a bean. The colorful fungi gave the underground cavern a magical appearance. If one hadn't seen it with their own eyes, no one would believe such a place existed.

Rounding a large, reddish-brown spherical fungus, Wei Dengke and Mo Li stopped. They had unexpectedly found a large underground lake, estimated to be at least four hundred meters in diameter. The lake water was very clear. Although the dim light made it difficult to see clearly, both Mo Li and Wei Dengke could vaguely make out something swimming in the water.

"Didn't I tell you not to come? Why didn't you listen?" Just as the two were staring in shock at the underground lake before them, Zhong Lichun's voice called out again, this time much closer.

Following the sound, they finally saw Zhong Lichun. She was perched on top of a giant spherical fungus, looking at Mo Li and Wei Dengke with a terrified expression, her eyes filled with anxiety.

Before the two could speak to Zhong Lichun, a loud splash came from the lake beside them. Hearing the sound, they turned their heads and were completely stunned by what they saw.

A giant head had emerged from the lake's surface. The head was enormous, estimated to be at least three meters in diameter. Due to the poor lighting, neither Mo Li nor Wei Dengke could clearly see what it was, only a massive silhouette.

"Run!" Just as they were stunned, Zhong Lichun's anxious cry came again. This time, they didn't hesitate. They turned and ran. The creature that had emerged from the lake saw them trying to escape and lunged out of the water, landing on the shore.

The impact of its massive body hitting the ground caused the earth to tremble. Wei Dengke instinctively turned his head at the sound and then let out a high-pitched scream: "Oh my god! What a huge frog!"

Hearing Wei Dengke's exclamation, Mo Li also looked back, and then Mo Li was dumbfounded. Wei Dengke wasn't wrong. Behind them, there was indeed a giant frog. How big was this frog? To give you an idea, it was at least as big as a large truck. The frog was grayish-yellow all over, its skin covered in uneven bumps. Its pair of yellowish eyes darted around, and a foul stench emanated from its body.

As soon as the giant frog leaped ashore, it began chasing Wei Dengke and Mo Li frantically. What was incredible was that this frog was different from ordinary frogs; it didn't hop but ran on the ground using its four limbs. Given its size, each stride covered at least three meters. Although it didn't appear to be running very fast, it had closed the distance between itself and the fleeing duo in just a few steps.

"Run faster! Faster! You're going to be caught!" Zhong Lichun, perched on the giant spherical fungus, saw this and urged them on loudly.

Mo Li was using all his might at that moment, running incredibly fast! He quickly outran the pursuing giant frog. However, Wei Dengke couldn't keep up. He was panting heavily as he ran, and the distance between him and the giant frog was closing. It was estimated that the frog would catch up to Wei Dengke in a few more seconds.

"Ah~! Help!" Just as Mo Li was desperately fleeing, Wei Dengke's piercing scream was heard. Upon hearing the cry, Mo Li quickly looked back. The giant frog had extended its tongue, about six to seven meters long, wrapped around Wei Dengke, and was dragging him back.

Under the instinct for survival, people can unleash incredible potential. Despite Wei Dengke's thin and weak appearance, he was now completely desperate. As he was being dragged by the giant tongue towards the frog's mouth, Wei Dengke actually used his hands and feet to prop open the frog's closing mouth, letting out a series of strange cries.

"You bastard! I'm not a bug flying around in front of you, why are you eating me? I don't taste good!" Wei Dengke shouted while holding open the frog's mouth.

At this moment, both Mo Li and Zhong Lichun felt helpless. Their opponent was too large. Facing such a creature, even if they attacked together, they wouldn't be able to win. But if they did nothing, Wei Dengke would be in grave danger.

Mo Li gritted his teeth and started running back. He didn't know how he would deal with the giant frog once he got there, but he couldn't bear to watch Wei Dengke be eaten, so he could only take it one step at a time.

Wei Dengke strained to keep the frog's mouth open, his arms and legs trembling uncontrollably. With his strength, he couldn't hold on for much longer. Feeling his strength waning, cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He let out another low growl, then released his hands from propping open the frog's mouth. The next moment, the frog's mouth closed, and Wei Dengke disappeared from Mo Li and Zhong Lichun's sight.
